Question is which capital city will you get the most quality life with enough money. Owerri beats the rest. It is relatively calm, well planned, neat and green, good and modern residential apartments, fairy good road and transportation ease. It also has a functional and fairly busy airport, hotels and other recreational facilities. Enugu is also good but appear dirty nowadays.

Port Harcourt has even more facilities than Owerri but has worse environment, worse traffic and a problem of petty cult clash. Reason many port Harcourt residents go to Owerri on weekends for relaxation.

Ikeja is good but traffic and noise are a major turn off.

I wouldn't argue about Ibadan. A large unplanned settlement with mostly dilapidated houses and with almost a non functional airport is what you want to argue about?

Don't mind these guys, ignorance and bigotry has finished them. Owerri is definitely one of the best cities in Nigeria. Beautiful, serene, wide roads, lots of greenery etc.

For some reasons, Owerri is underrated but the facts speak for itself.

Owerri was the second city to ban okada in Nigeria after Abuja. Today, you can't find okada or Keke in Owerri. How many cities in Nigeria today can function without Keke and okada?

Owerri airport is one of the busiest in Nigeria despite being only local.

Owerri has the best nightlife you can find in any city in Nigeria!

Owerri has lots of malls, hotels and eateries per square mile than most cities in Nigeria.

New Owerri is so beautiful and serene that only a few places can be compared with it in Nigeria.

Anyone who wants to challenge me should get ready to argue with facts, pictures and videos or shut up!

South South

Benin too many old buildings.

Umuahia is rubbish.
Abakaliki is picking up compared to the last time I was there.
Awka could still do better.
Owerri is not that bad.

I have been to all the states in Nigeria so I am talking from experience.

Umuahia township is well planned, what she needs are modern buildings, good infrastructures and sanitation. The shopping complex located at the former Ogwumabiri market should be removed or redesigned.

Can you answer the questions below?

What infrastructures are in Owerri? Does it have transportation system like airport, BRT, train etc?

How many five star hotels, restaurants, secondary schools exit in Owerri?

How many Industries, factories, multinationals etc are in Owerri?

How many world class health care centers, hospitals etc are in Owerri?

How many highbrow areas, estates etc are in Owerri? grin

How many malls, supermarkets, grocery stores etc are in Owerri?

How many recreational centers, stadiums, golf courses, polo clubs, cinemas etc are in Owerri? grin

Ikeja comprises of Allen, Opebi, Omole, Ojodu, Maryland, GRA, Anthony, Onigbongbo, Alausa, Magodo, Ogba, Agidingbi, Oregun etc.

What about Owerri? grin

The most developed state capital in terms of infrastructures are listed in this order.

1. Ikeja
2. Port Harcourt
3. Ibadan
4. Kano
5. Kaduna
6. Enugu
7. Abeokuta
8. Jos

10. Ilorin
11. Owerri
Port harcourt is the most developed state capital in Nigeria that I know.
There's nothing much in onigbongbo than mobolaji Anthony, omole is just an estate in agidibgbi, Anthony is not part of Ikeja, Anthony is in Kosofe LGA, Magodo is in Kosofe LGA on the other side of Lagos Ibadan expressway way, there's nothing in oregun than kudirat Abiola way and mobolaji johnson. Allen is just alen Avenue.

Port Harbour is way bigger with better infrastructure than Ikeja. Enugu and Owerri are way bigger and has better infrastructure than Ikeja.
A good part of ibadan even have better infrastructure than Ikeja.

If I should rank in other:

1. Port harcourt
2. Kano (based on what People say)
3. Kaduna (based on what people say)
4. Enugu
5. Ibadan
6. Owerri
7. Ikeja
8. Uyo
9. Calabar
10. Ilorin (I have been here and this city is nice and organize). I have been to Akure, Osogbo and Abeokuta, Ilorin is way better than those places.

If I should sincerely rank capital cities without bias.

1. Port harcourt (without any single doubt, this is the best capital in Nigeria, Port harcourt is almost like the whole of lagos).
2. Kano
3. Kaduna
4. Enugu/Ibadan (for industrialization, I will go for Ibadan. For planning and serenity, I will go for Enugu).
6. Owerri/Ikeja (owerri is way bigger with more road infrastructure than Ikeja, while Ikeja is more densely built and many parts of Ikeja tarred, although these roads are substandardly tarred).
8. Uyo/Calabar (for road infrastructure, I will give it to Uyo but Calabar is better planned and seem to be more active than Uyo. Uyo seem to be bigger by landmass but Uyo is looking scanty, calabar is a very small city by landmass).
10. Ilorin/Jos/Benin (Ilorin is very planned with good roads, same as Jos but ilorin to me seem to be a better city than Jos, Jos does not really have some massive buildings). Benin city is large and also have some good roads in it.

After these then you can then mention cities like:
Akure and Abeokuta, they are also a little nice.

Cities like Abakaliki will be in this league soon if they can keep up with this current pace. Awka will make the list if they can enlarge zik avenue, construct a wide dualized road from Abagana to zik Avenue and also connect unizik road to Aroma junction with a wide dualized road. Awka already has some structures to compete but they don't have wide roads aside the expressway

Niger is the worst Northern state that i have visited. No single road network. My journey from minna to katagora was horrible.

I don't like lagos is too dirty and noisy

Abuja is the best for me

Kano is good but without hausa you'll get lost

I can't live in awka anymore. It's just a developing village

Enugu, the incoming government have a lot of work to do because the present governor performed poorly in infrastructure

No state capital in Nigeria is developed, they are all pieces of shit including ikeja and Port harcourt by global standard but the worst I have visited are as follows:

1. Lokoja (this one na dead place)
2. Lafia (na only two dualized road dey for here)
3. Ado Ekiti (mtcheew)
4 Umuahia (the government here is sleeping)
5. Yenegoa (this place na total disgrace).
6. Awka ( it's an expressway capital with 3 flyovers and 2 dualized roads)

The best I have visited by Nigerian standard are:
1. Port harcourt
2. Enugu
3. Ibadan
4. Owerri
5. Ilorin
6. Ikeja

Ps: I have not visited Kaduna and Kano state.

You are on point with your list…

Yenagoa (Bayelsa generally) is a disgrace. Especially considering the money she has as compared to her population. And few L.G.A.

Lokoja is an eyesore.

Some state governments are really shameless!

Can you prove this…

Apart from the flour mills, BAT and the chicken hatcheries and other related companies. I really cannot think of many industries to quality Ibadan as industrialized.

Enugu apart from coal mining. Which is long in comatose cannot be said to be an industrialized city.

I think the argument for Enugu being a good city is on account of its well planned urban nature and being very organized and serene.

Enugu is more of a civil service city!
