Broveens42: In bold: And you think you know what development of state capital is? And you don't take into account the development of the entire Imo state? Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri were on nearly equal status of urban development in 1976 when Imo state was created. But because people of Owerri zone in a primitive greed style lobbied for, and got located in Owerri all institutions of government that induce modern development wherever located, no consideration for Okigwe and Orlu zones; that is what you are celebrating. Result is Imo state governors struggle to provide matching urban infrastructures in only the expanding Owerri; as most of the population in Okigwe and Orlu zones drift to Owerri which is now made up of Old Owerri, New Owerri and other Owerris springing up in the once rural areas in Owerri senattorial district. The underdevelopment of rest of Imo state outside Owerri district is stinking. The underdevelopment has since 2011 been accelerated by two hatefilled governors from Orlu senatorial district who see a political enemy in Orlu LGA. The present governor has since inception of his administration, practically arrested modern development in Orlu, the 2nd largest urban centre in Imo state. He is very happy for what he has done. As he cannot do a development project outside Owerri except reconstructing federal roads linking Owerri to other places in Imo State. You count the blessings of your Owerri hometown but do not count the arrested development of rest of Imo state. 2 Likes |

OVB123:I can only vouch for the states I have been to. Among all of them only Abia and Ekiti feautured there and it is absolutely on point. The first time I went to Ekiti I was gobsmacked, I could not believe they even have a government. I mean all the people I know from there happened to be good human being and well educated as well as enlightened. As for Abia, there story is for another day, after visiting my cousin at Aba and spending days at umuahia which I can claim to be home based on marriage,my respect for all the Orjis went to hell. In fact that was when I started hating on him and I ain’t stopping at all. I count him as one of the most wicked human being on earth including the other orjis too. |

Sunnyhillsfarms: So the legacy of Donald Duke and and Liyel Imoke has been rubbished by that short dwarf called Ben Ayade. Last time I visited Calabar was in 2013 and it was sparkling clean and neat, lodged in one nice hotels around Mary slessor junction called 'Pentagon' or is it 'Picadilly'..name starts with a P...I can't remember now. Clean babes everywhere. It's pity the current governor is a waste of space. |

Iriruaga100: You and your lots don't really know what development is all about. I'll give you reasons why only owerri and abj should be mentioned slightly above Nigeria level. 1. Being developed doesn't mean static condition; development is a continuum where you seek to improve the city according to the master plan ( owerri still maintains that) 2. Organized street/classy buildings (and not selected areas like GRA) ; you can't compare any city in Nija to owerri in that regard. 3. Organized commercial buildings without ugly fences. 4. Wide roads with so many bypasses ( not overrated flyovers that lead to no where) 5. World class landscaping for both residential and commercial areas. 6. Owerri is largely known for it's entertainment industry with world class hotels/lounge/recreation . Yes! It's a viable industry like some other world class cities abroad 7. Functional traffic lights 8. Solar lights 9. Underground drainage (balloon technology) 10.Tarred roads on major streets of old and new Owerri 11. Functional fire service 12. Public schools with world class learning environment...go now and visit schools like government secondary school, Holy ghost college, owerri girls college etc you will understand 13. Proactive public health 14. Organized transport for both civil servants (government bus) and other motorists (Bus imo) 15. Many shopping malls 16. Sam mbakwe airport ( a local airport that's 4th busiest in Nigeria is not a joke) 17. Home to family of expatriates ( a lot of this so called foreigners working in down south have almost formed a colony in Owerri but I won't give out the location here). They feel secured. Whether you like it or not, owerri is a peaceful capital and will always be. 18. The only state capital/zone in Nigeria where none of it's governors had emerged since 1999, but well built. Serenity is the major consideration in capital city situation. One of the reasons why FCT was moved from Lagos. A state capital is the thinking center of any state and shouldn't house a major commercial center to save it from noise. You can't have Main market in awka. You can't have Ariaria in Umuahia... Warri can't be the capital of Delta But go to Ikeja, they carry Computer village go mount at the center of the city thereby making the city more of a commercial city than a capital city 4 Likes |

[quote author=Workch post=123225152]No state capital in Nigeria is developed, they are all pieces of shit including ikeja and Port harcourt by global standard but the worst I have visited are as follows: 1. Lokoja (this one na dead place) 2. Lafia (na only two dualized road dey for here) 3. Ado Ekiti (mtcheew) 4 Umuahia (the government here is sleeping) 5. Yenegoa (this place na total disgrace). 6. Awka ( it's an expressway capital with 3 flyovers and 2 dualized roads) The best I have visited by Nigerian standard are: 1. Port harcourt 2. Enugu 3. Ibadan 4. Owerri 5. Ilorin 6. Ikeja Ps: I have not visited Kaduna and Kano state. Kano and kaduna are far better |

Suspect33:You have not told me why only repeating yourself. You can never compare a city where ladies are scared to dress to fashion and men drink bear and wine in secret, to a place where the opposite is obtainable. Kano has good infrastructure more than Awka (by far) but religious extremism and Sharia is a huge dent. |
