I don’t think more than 20k regular Russian forces have been killed/wounded since the war started. And the bulk of the casualties they took happened during the first 2months of the war and in Lyman. Outside that - they haven’t really been that much involved apart from Kherson and Mariupol.

Russia currently has about 2million active forces and almost 700k of them are chilling somewhere in Southern Ukraine, Luhansk and along the borders. Those doing most of the heavy fighting are Wagner and the separatists albeit regular Russian forces are supporting them with artillery.

Donetsk where Bakhmut is located is heavily fortified with underground tunnels and deep trenches. You don’t throw your elite forces in a frontal assault meat grinder such as that - you use expendable forces hence it’s well suited for Wagner since it has a lot of hardened prisoners in its rank. But they were supported with artillery by Russian VDV (paratroopers), tho. Ukraine can throw its elite forces there because it’s the most strategic point in Ukraine for logistics (the primary node for rail transport) - it’s also high ground and its strongest line of defence.

I think a lot of you need to study this war without bias because it’s providing the best education of what modern warfare looks like in real time with a real war. The last time the world witnessed something like this was in Vietnam.

Russia isn’t fighting europe, the U.S. etc. they’re fighting Ukrainians armed with limited western weapons. They aren’t being provided with the best the west has to offer, and most of their heavy weaponry is only just arriving.

You can tell how daft an excuse it is becaus you’re not claiming Ukraine is fighting Iran and North Korea too, and both of those countries have been supplying Russia with ammunition and weapons.

Based on how Russia has been performing in Ukraine, they’re certainly nowhere near good enough to fight the likes of the US and China in a conventional fight.

You really think Russia has achieved a victory? But at what cost? Russia has far more pressing needs than to expend resources on a completely pointless war. The war is basically an ego trip. Its foreign reserves has been frozen, and in the event of any "victory"(this may simply means the handover of Russian speaking parts of Ukraine to Russia), it would pay huge reparations running into hundreds of billions of dollars. A lot of the sanctions would still remain in place affecting the economy of Russia

Many former USSR countries have per capita income twice that of Russia, such as the Baltic states. Russia has so much scientist that it should be a top 10 in commercial technology but is instead heavily dependent on the export of commodities to survive.

The invasion was never justified. The West would have backed off from allowing Ukraine join NATO and the EU if Putin demanded so as they wouldn't like to lose massive business opportunities in Russia. He thought this was still 2014 but did not realise that this time, the West was waiting for him in the event of an invasion. The Bakhmut win would easily have cost Russia tens of billions of dollars.

About Taiwan, China's economy seems to be experiencing a downturn. Any invasion would seriously damage its economy, whether it comes out victorious or not. I do not support Biden's hard-line posture in regards to Russia or Taiwan, but the truth has to be said.

A Taiwanese invasion would jeopardize world manufacturing. You have microchips manufactured in Taiwan in electrical components in homes, offices, or factories. It is the world's global leader. The world economy might as well come to a halt. I am sure my computer has Taiwan manufactured chips.
