If Tinubu is serious about ending subsidy, he cannot and should not mince words Backtracking or sounding unsure will make importers pause importing, leading to more scarcity Who will import without subsidy knowing the President could change his mind Imagine importing at a price that is profitable only when retailed at N500, only to bring fuel on the market and everyone is selling at N200 because they bought later when President changed his mind and gave them subsidy payment. You will make a big loss. You will rather not import, but wait it out to see the Presidents reaction. This will lead to scarcity Policy changes must be decisive with no grey areas or counter messaging. Govts in UK fall within days because of policy reversals. See Liz Truss for example 2 Likes |

Amigoss:None of Total, oando,Mobil and other major marketers are selling..... I wonder how he is going to revoke their licences...... I am still waiting for the palliatives atleast b4 the end of d month when they believe the no-subsidy sags will commence.... Cos,according to our comrades,we are paying #600 for subsidised fuel even in d eyes of our presido |

OasisX:B4 the announcement it was 230/250...just a speech, it has hit 600 ..what do u expect when it is officially removed...I think d marketers would be d determinants cos we can't do any thing reasonable in this country without fuel and so must pay thru our nose to be alive The subsidy removal isn't d problem per se but the truth behind d whole fuel saga.. How much do we pay as Subsidies in reality vs the amount of fuel we consume per day... The truth is....we ain't like so many other countries cos our lives depends on fuel in all ramifications. From price of commodities to light to many other things asides transportation. Everything ought to be highlighted and reveal b4 embarking on such a devastating situation and should be gradual while working on other important things to gain d trust of the masses BUHARI isn't mad to cut it off during d past 8years, I believed he was advised against it....BAT owing up with his full chest is just another own goal cos he can't withstand the outcome when fuel hits 800-1000/litre with tied pump...... Like I said the reality would begin to manifest from next week when d market value of commodities begins to vibrate... 2 Likes |

No dey follow mouth ! *Ẹ má tẹle ẹnu * Raumdeuter was once anti-subsidy removal ; most of the things we argue today as reason for opposing sudden removal , he argued in its favor 11-12 years ago. Egbon Raumdeuter like most of us today argued about removing subsidy when government agencies don’t even agree on our petroleum consumption figures , he opposed the idea of buying fuel same as developed countries , he even made an economically reasonable decision of critiquing the idea of not paying Nigerians the wage of Americans and expecting them to have the same purchasing powe of Americans . Before u start saying our opposition of the subsidy removal this time and the way and manner it was announced ; was borne out of our “hate” for Nigeria or Peter Obi’s loss of the election, take a time to reflect on whether most of what egbon raised in these attached have been resolved today. Do we need to applaud Tinubu for doing exact same thing Jonathan did and was kicked out ? 10 Likes 4 Shares

If the speech had resulted in 20% reduction in fuel price you would have said he has hit the ground running but now you want to shield him from the own goal he scored. How can such a careless fellow lead this great nation forward? 2 Likes |
