BigBabyJesus: No one is giving anyone Biafra! If you want Biafra, pack yourself off Nigeria land and go form your Biafra elsewhere. Timbuktu might have you, or claim land in the Sahara desert. And mind the Nigerian door as you exit please or we shall let it hit you on your way out.

Thanks but this not about resource control but citing of corporate head offices. There was a time the government actually told those multinationals to relocate to their host states but they refused. ofcourse resource control will be a good idea anyway. It's part of the restructuring that we have been clamouring for... So no qualms about that. Lagos will always survive on its own no matter what.... cktheluckyman: |

Lightorder: The Gbadebo issue is purely political! They just capitalised on ethnicity and Lagos is no man's land mantra and the flaws of those who holds such insane position. Those who stopped him are APC, even thugs from any part of the country could have been paid to carry out such service , as long as money is involved , including Yoruba thugs of course Just like wike stopped people in Rivers and what is obtainable in other states. Those who voted for Obi in the presidential election and could have voted for Gbadebo in the gubernatorial election are also those Lagos based Ondo, Oyo e .t.c indigenes you mentioned . So don't mix the two, if you are fighting APC go ahead and fight them but don't make Yoruba people your problem or is Lagos not Yoruba land? even though a lot of them in Lagos still assisted Obi in winning Lagos before APC thugs came and hijack the governorship election. 2 Likes 1 Share |

He is not. Those who are all about ululating that Lagos should be given due status as Yoruba land are descended from castaways of other western states. They cannot stake their claim convincingly that they are aborigines. They are like empty vessels that make the loudest sound. That is why they have made themselves busybodies digging a pit for others, without knowing it is quagmire for their downfall. |

XAUBulls: This is a great post. There was a thread about the people who founded different parts of Lagos on here a few days ago and if you understand the etymology of Yoruba names - you can pretty much tell the subgroups of Yoruba a lot of them belong to. I think Oyo seems to always get neglected when it comes to indigenous Lagosians despite Oyo people being one of the original inhabitants of what’s known as Lagos today. With Badagry for example: Oyo and Aworis have a better claim to it than the Eguns (Ogus) who’re settlers that arrived there after leaving Whydah (I think or is it Quidah?) - due to the King Ghezo. I don’t know if you have seen Viola Davis and John Boyega’s “The Warrior King” (the movie isn’t 100% historically accurate tho) but it did show when the people of Quidah were attacked by King Ghezo. I believe that’s when a lot of them migrated to what’s know today’s as Badagry. Ikoyi is another one: Onikoyi anywhere in Yorubaland is Oyo, so that’s pretty straightforward. Also, with Eyo festival - the Dosunmu family inherited Eyo from Ijebu (Iperu-Remo) via marriage thus making them the custodian of Eyo in Lagos as Adimu orisha but the 2nd most powerful Eyo (I can’t remember its name) is Oyo (from Iseyin). Etc. Let me go on a tangent a bit with the excerpt about Ijebuland sharing borders with Osun. I didn’t really know that and thanks for the heads up. It makes the claim that Ijebus stationed tens of thousands of Ijebu warriors in Ife to protect Ife during the Yoruba wars much more plausible now. I always thought Ijebus just shared borders Oyo state since Ijebus are part of the integral part of the Yoruba settlers in Ibadan - after the Egbas vacated the city and migrated to their current abode in Abeokuta. I was going to delve more into Ife and the pre-Oduduwa migration of Yoruba groups like Aworis and Eastern Yoruba subgroups from Ife and Ife empire but I’ll leave that for another day. 3 Likes 1 Share |

EcoBrick: It's a welcome development. Let it come. I know the people this coming law will be targeted at. It's the IGBOS, but nothing to worry, we shall at last overcome. But my concern in all of these is that non- Indigenes will be making laws for indigenous people of Lagos State. This is quite absurd. Mudasiru Obasa is from Ogun State, Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat and lots of them in power today are from states outside Lagos and you want to make laws for indigenes, what an aberration? For those who will be drafting the laws and reversing the reversibles, know that any law made by any state assembly, in Nigeria that runs contrary to the constitution of Nigeria is already null and void. We look forward, to seeing them. Good luck. |

Is that what he called robustful legislation am not surprised. When we have glorified agberos at strategic position they find it difficult to identify whether chicken or egg which comes first. Lagos is multifaceted in so many ways and that can't be changed overnight. Oba_saa and his goons will come and go but the people of Lagos will remain. |

Ttipsy: They are not stopping nada . .. they just want to give more considerations to the disrespected and disregarded indigenes, more or less like a favour, like the catchment area we find in University admission and don't see matter from a one sided view, this thing didn't just arrive from no where , action begets reaction, don't be blind to what is influencing the decision for this bill.. And don't describe someone as dumb , if you are no better, can't you give superior argument without abuse? 3 Likes |

Jagungidi: Are you saying the red Indians are not exposed today, not enlightened, not educated in today's world.? or are not in politics,,? even those who are still in tune with their primitive culture and who isolate themselves from western ways of life, they still give them their respect , recognition and space and they are not run over. Which zero and fake love? those who even protect dogs and give other animals their right. |
