It's a tough job but I wouldn't give it to anybody's else, he seems to be the only one available to me, I don't see another person until at least 2029. He just recently announced that the Blue Beetle is the first character of the DCU and I think that movie wrapped filming like 2 - 3 months before he was appointed. I honestly thought he would cancel it or at least delay it further. I just don't want anything to come out of the DCU until it has gone through an in depth evaluation in the hands of James Gunn and has been blessed with a few creative ideas from him.

Blue Beetle is the first character from the DCU is different from the first film from the DCU.

This basically means Blue Beetle will be an important part of his upcoming universe regardless of the movie's outcome.

Good thing is Blue Beetle was made as a standalone with little to no connection to the DCEU. This makes it ripe for inclusion in the upcoming DCU and doesn't overcomplicate things.
