You can claim to be an expert witness, until the opposing counsel exposes you as biased and partisan, then your account is null and void. Just as they did to the LP expert witness today, it was heavily proved beyond doubt that she is a tainted expert witness.

You be olodo.

A witness that was a Labour party HOR candidate and that confirmed that she had sued INEC to court recently, during cross examination, is not partisan? 😄
Arrgh!!!

Her being a member of LP was not a secret na. Neither is her suit against INEC. By the way she is in court to testify against INEC, she didn't come to baby sit them. Being a member of a party does not make you partisan as long as your report is evidential. It's like a teacher marking his son's script. It does not invalidate the result as long as she follows the marking guide.

The key thing is that her report did not include anything about LP. That's all there is.

What the court will now do is to find out if her report has weight or substance. The INEC SANs couldn't get her to comment on anything LP. That's why they started asking her which states LP won and all those nonsense. She was too smart for them. Olanipekun even acknowledge that she is no stranger to court affairs.

I am sure you will keep arguing. I don't have all day for silly clowns.

Been expecting to see some sort of speculations/discussions from the knowledgeable folks on this thread regarding Baba-go-fast's score card on policies such as:

- Over 40% increase in electricity tariff
- Student loan; requirements to qualify and concomitant effects on general tuition fees
- Subsidy removal; how people are trekking nowadays since they can't afford the crappy public bus
- 'Regularisation' of Naira to the FX market; resultant effect on basically everything imported

And most importantly, how all these will affect the regular man on the street earning 33k minimum wage...

From my own end, all I see is taxing on multiple fronts...owo council and owo turning on a grand national scale.

Is there a good side to expect in future?

I haven't really seen much discourse. Just pictures from oasis (still gloating from his victory), some banter, some small gender fights and a very awkward silence on the pressing issues.

I'm honestly asking so me sef can learn.
My dear it is a very difficult thing to defend stupidity.

So they bring pictures and emogis to cover up.

Me to, I'll like to learn

DontBullshitMe:

While I commend Tinubu for atleast taking those harsh decisions in the reversal of these fruitless schemes, the truth is these schemes shouldn't have started at all and the damage they have done to the country at this point looks irreversible from my pov.

Look at the (free) tertiary education subsidy nonsense (which that ignorant Awolowo started) for instance : That useless scheme was eating up the huge chunk of the education budget of the country. Public primary and secondary schools were neglected while the country subsidises tertiary education for entitled students studying stupid courses like Mass Comm, Botany, Theatre Arts, History, Philosophy etc. Those who study Professional courses like Medicine, Engineering etc quickly pack their bags and flee the country (which I support anyway) so the country is basically losing its huge investment. Kids aged 2-16 who were short-changed and denied quality primary and secondary education will grow up to be semi-literate, unintuitive and uncompetitive thus turning to crimes and all sort.

I don't even know what to say about Petrol subsidy than to shake my head for the billions of naira spent on subsidising a consumer product for years that didn't necessarily encourage productivity. Nigerians were gulping heavily subsidised petrol for over 35 years, literally eating the future of their unborn kids and you begin to wonder, why will the country not be in such deteriorating state? It didn't even stop at that, some custom officers were also feeding fat on illegal fuel export. Hehe.

On the Forex part, FG incentivised round-tripping with such a huge margin between official and parallel rates. People were making a killing buying from CBN and selling in the parallel market and further straining country's dollar reserve and weakening the currency further. Those people are made for life chilling in one resort in Abuja. Just sad ordinary Nigerians had no access hehe.

So, these policies by Tinubu are already too late. Even if they will reflect any direct benefit on ordinary citizens, it will take about 40 years that's if his successor does not even reverse them (to gain popularity) so waste of suffering again. grin grin

So much ignorant assumptions in a single post !

1.Without free education most professors, retired judges, foremost economists , SAN’s etc u know today would’ve never been educated . Without Awolowo’s free education most of these grandparents today would never have had access to education , neither will they have sent their children to school .

2. If u claim government neglected primary and secondary school fundings, I think u should speak for ur state/region. I’ve been to unity schools owned by federal government and I’ve seen federal government investments/intervention projects there that rival what u will get in some expensive private school. I served in a unity school in the north and that was the first time I saw an ICT center in a Nigerian school fully powered by solar energy which lasts as much as 48 days without normal source of electricity . Lagos state government has free education at the primary and secondary school level , and still yet its state owned university is one of the best (if not the best state university in Nigeria )

3. Calling Awolowo ignorant does not only make one sound ignorant himself , but ungrateful . Some of the teachers who taught u in school would never have smelt the 4 walls of any educational institution .

4. Referring to courses in the arts and scoial sciences like History , philosophy and mass comm as stupid is not a bright thing to say at all. U sef reason am , if everybody studied “professional courses “ like medicine, engineering , etc where
Will they all apply their skills ? Wont they still travel out for better opportunities when the labour market is saturated with everybody carrying the same degree ? Abi na person wey study medicine go dey read news for arise TV, na person wey study engineering go dey anchor Sports programme on radio?

5.Perhaps u don’t know Nigeria was once operating regional government ; Awolowo introduced the free education which was so successful that other regions had to start copying part of it. Look at what the free education u are running down did for the old western region and look at the old northern region where few children of the elite could go to school while the indigents were left in the dark. Look at the gulf between those two today ; tell me what u see.

6. U didn’t even scratch the surface of what Nigeria’s problem is. U left tackling corruption , uncontrolled population growth, government’s excessive spendings on frivolous things, etc only to wish all form of subsidies/incentives which the common man benefits be taken away . 🤦‍♂️

Wahala for students uniben . School fees increased

Funny enough, this is not yet the increment being proposed by the FG. There’s no tuition fee in the breakdown of the fees which means what FG is proposing has not been implemented yet, na UNIBEN still dey do this increment

There’s no such law.

It’s a proposal by RMAFC, it hasn’t even been passed in the house of assembly both state and federal.

If only people will read the article , the headline is just a clickbait to garner response by pulse, our media houses are really something else.

Based on what I read on it , the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) claimed salaries of public officials , judicial officers and elected officials have not been reviewed since 2007 and that it was due for upward review this year . Somehow they are proposing a 114% pay rise .

I guess this particular matter will determine if Tinubu is any different from other presidents in the past. If they are telling us they need to remove petrol subsidy , let go education subsidy and make other tough sacrifices because Nigeria don’t have the money to continue with them, it will be totally wicked and selfish to go ahead with the new pay rise they are proposing for now . It will only mean they want the rich to keep getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

Someone like Senator Abiru of Lagos East senatorial district was the MD of a commercial bank where he resigned and contested for vacant senate seat. People like that are already made . It will be sheer wickedness for people of his caliber to get 114% pay rise while the common man in the streets( some of whom campaigned and voted for him) sink deeper down the poverty line .

I want to believe they will step it down, if not for anything but for the bad PR it will give their government

Exactly.

I don’t think any state house of assembly or the federal house of assembly will want to look into it. Not at this time when so much is being asked of the citizen.

Any state that try to implement and amend their law on that recommendation should be called out.
