Baba, I’m not a fan of Tinubu or his political ideologies , but I don’t think he will proceed with approving the 114% increment at this time .

How many state governments will adopt the new pay structure being proposed and they will be bold enough to face the people and ask them for sacrifice. Lagos state for example has money but how will Lagos state government increase the pay of people like Mudashiru Obasa by 114% and expect the residents of the state to bear with them when they say they don’t have funds to fix roads in the state ? How will they increase the pay of Desmond Elliot and come out with bold face to tell us it’s paucity of funds that has made work slow on Lagos-Badagry expressway ?

I don’t think any reasonable government will implement whatever nonsense RMAFC is proposing at this time !
assuming they implement it...what will you...I and every other common man do..

Pulse dey whine themselves ni.

The recommendation that the chairman gave was since last year, he recommended that elected office holders and judges should get a 114% increase in their basic salary and recommended that it should start Jan 1 2023, Buhari ignored it.

Yesterday, while speaker at an event, he made mention of it and that's what Pulse was reporting.

Nobody is going to increase any salary of political officer holder at this period.

114% Doc.

They are soaking garri with crack rock in that country. The place is irredeemable.

This is the exact reason nobody takes us serious. Proposing austerity and jacking up already obscene wages for an already indulgent, indolent bourgeoise class. The French revolution happened over less.

But they are and that is the truth. Only an ìdìot will bet money that Obi will come out victorious in court.

So the only way they are not compromised is if they announce Obi winner of the election?

When it comes to scheming for emoluments, even the Devil will get swindled by Nigerian lawmakers.

Tinubu could also use them to score some quick PR points so this might be some 4D chess shit

No, the way they are not compromised is to make the process of appointing judges plain, impartial and of merit.

As it stands, it's just politicians who appoint judges.

That's incorrect please. The National Judicial Commission makes recommendations for a vacant position and the President/Governor assent to it.

If you are claiming that our judges are not appointing on merits, you will have to bring examples.

If you listen to lawyers talk about the appointment of judges then you'll know you are incorrect.

For example the appointment of Peter Odili's daughters as judges while 'legal" they were fast tracked their parents.

They were fast tracked by the parents, how? Is it by telling the Governor to make her a judge or by influencing the NJC to recommend her?

Most times the President/Governor approves and appoint whoever the NJC recommends.

Again, state uni charge far higher than federal uni but I refuse to believe a state uni will charge 790k for Medicine unless they have facilities that rival private universities.

And yes, state govt subsidies tertiary education also but not on the level of the federal ones.

I was paying 95k to study Accounting in a State Uni while a friend that went to Redeemers University Ede was paying around 750k to study the same Accounting.

The children of big men especially those with parents who are judges and what not will have their names sent to the NJC who ask the governor or president. By the time the slots are filled up, na the common lawyers wey dey extremely good especially in top law firms go get the remaining spots.

If I come across that convo again, I'll share the link.

Remember when subsidy removal was proposed ..and we thought it couldn't happen due to the situation of the country, alas, here we are today.

They can actually implement it...Nigerians will only lament and go about their business. Heck, some people in our midst will defend it.
