The Wire, Breaking Bad and The Sopranos are not necessarily exciting shows (don't think the writers optimized for raw excitement), so maybe that's the issue here. They're however very interesting, intriguing and memorable.

Breaking Bad was so good a TV show that a spinoff Better Call Saul was created from it and that spinoff banged majorly. It's been a while I watched The Wire though, so maybe nostalgia might be influencing how well I rated it back then, but you see that Sopranos and Breaking Bad ehn... peerless. Sopranos is a piece of art.
