With My 450k Salary Am Not Still At Ease. by Intergrated: 4:51pm On Jul 08, 2023 |
Greetings all. I work in a company and my take home is 450k after tax. My problem is I have been thinking of a skill to learn as this job would not last forever. Aside this job I do not have a skill and as a man I feel one should have a long lasting skill. Please any suggestions would be welcomed aside from online skills. Thank you . 83 Likes 4 Shares |

What do you mean you have no skills? Do you think your employer paying you 450k salary is a Father Christmas? Your job description in the company is a skill. 543 Likes 35 Shares |

Natural2Heal: My thought exactly . however with this amount you can acquire as many DS as possible with just a little out of a month salary. nnamdi640: DS is short for DIGITAL SKILL(S)! I mentor on this and also help interested peeps with DS to master how to create revenue with their DS. wittyness 30 Likes 4 Shares |

450k is huge, especially in this country. My advice is for you to learn how to save. Cut down your expenses, don’t spend recklessly, don’t compete with co-workers and don’t try to impress anybody (including women). Rent an affordable apartment, start up a business. (Don’t start building any house immediately, because it’s a liability). It will only tie your wealth in one spot. Imagine building a house with 30-50m in Lagos, only to get at least 2m yearly as a rent. How long will it take to get back the capital A House is a long term investment + retirement plan. Start a business first! 436 Likes 30 Shares |

In a year time you should have a land in a choice location with this salary. Within 3 years you should have put a foundation of mini duplex and have side investment. I don’t know what skills you are talking about again. I doubt if any skills will give you that much in today Nigeria. Just try saving for now as you already have a paying job. 17 Likes 1 Share |

Think about using your money to start a side hustle. Where you pay people to work for you. But you need to know about the business and be able to monitor it so that people don't rip you off. Important thing is let your money work for you. Note that it is hard to find good employees or partners that are honest with money. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

Why? Just give yourself like a year and half and save like 200k from it. You should be getting like 3.5m as savings. Use it to set up phone accessories shop where you don't add much gain to your sales. You could opt for wholesales. 37 Likes 6 Shares |

Those saying 450K is more than enough to buy a land and start building do not really understand how expensive things are in Nigeria today. I earn slightly above what the OP mentioned, but believe you me, it's not been easy. If you live in Lagos, Abuja or PH and you are married with kids, you will understand. A 2 bedroom flat in an average neighborhood is over 700K. Cost of fuel and car maintenance is over 60/70K monthly in recent times. School fees for 2/3 children is over 200K per term (600/800K annually). Feeding takes over 100K monthly. Utilities and other miscellaneous dey ooo. Best thing na just to save enough and japa. 176 Likes 14 Shares |
