Saw nnpc selling for 560 on my way to work this morning and i just shake head.

He should never have removed that subsidy when he did.

I said it that time that subsidy can only be removed after measures have been put in place to mitigate the negative effects of subsidy removal but people said he should just remove it one time gbam!

Izzou you dey among those asking for immediate removal with alacrity? grin

It's beyond him removing the subsidy or removing it when he did cheesy

Thank you.
Just removing subsidy is one thing.
The next policies should be about taking advantage of that decision but oh well.. Everything dey impossible for Nigeria

Hmmm you might be right but probably for people with proper connections but not for a G boy with a potential murder case.

This same guy was arrested in 2020 for fraud by the efcc yet the case was swept under the carpet.

I am currently singing a different song like this. grin

As i dey suffer, dem dey share 70 billion as palliatives.

Bastards

And they had the audacity to justify it. The money is not meant to be shared. It's for renovation.

To be fair they aren't supposed to announce it sha, that's the whole idea behind the subsidy removal, the market dictates price. I think the change in price is not unconnected with the increase in USD, and in the coming days the price would begin to mirror the rate at which price of USD changed, bringing it a bit lower.

Same thing i said that day oo. You cant be asking the people to continue to sacrifice while you are not even showing any sign of sacrifice from the elite side.

Nobody should've supported that subsidy removal at that period.

I said it that before long this thing will turn to chaos.

We don do about 2 months and we dey manage.

The issue here is why it should keep on increasing, and at the same time, the best tenure yet is sharing pallatives for Akpabio and the rest.

This government is not sincere. Na the truth be that

EFCC sweeps fraud cases under the carpet on a regular, so that doesn't mean much. On a murder case that has casted like this, anything that brings that guy back to the country, best believe he'd serve time for it.

NNPCL has said they are increasing to 617.

If you don't buy it today or tomorrow, you will still buy it at that rate.

I said Tinubu should wait and access things himself before removing the subsidy, that way he can access the impact of the removal and how to mitigate against the severity of the impact on the majority of the people.

Just announcing subsidy removal the day he was sworn in without critically accessing the situation is reckless.

Its been more than a month and no measures is in sight.

You never answer the question naa..

What period should he have removed it?

Because what you'll see is a sharp rise from 189 to 617, if he removed it today.

People would have endured if they didn't see frivolous spendings from his tenure in less than 2 months.

I should buy fuel for 617, while less than 500 people manage 70 billion as palliatives?

Yes they haven't been sincere on this.

The idea of subsidy removal is that market forces is what will determine the price of the product. no more pegging of price. That's what we are seeing now.

Market forces does the exact opposite in Nigeria

If there are 10 importers in Nigeria, they just need to come together and fix anything they like.

What period should they have removed it?

They should have fixed electricity nationally and then improved transport network in the major cities first. Then when the fuel burden on the average citizen is lower you remove subsidy.

There are 2 problems with that. 1) I don’t know just how broke the country is. 2) Those measures would probably take 2-3 years which might make it too close to the next election cycle with potential for electoral backlash.

Those measures should have been in place before removing the subsidy IMO though. With the way Nigerians depend on fuel to do pretty much everything I am actually impressed with their resilience in these times.

Then they turn around and share 70 billion for themselves

Lmao FG should be grateful that we are not like the French people.
Because by now the people get every justification to hold FG to ransom
