The funniest shit I ever saw in my life was when waiting on line to be interviewed , this Ibo chief came in with full regalia and introduced himself as Chief so and so but was bluntly alerted by the black American interviewer who told him "I ask the questions and you respond. You understand me?"

Another one was one fake pastor who came in with tonnes of paper work presenting certificates of his church and what not and a letter of invitation. They bounce him without taking one look at any of it.

Those guys believe Nigerians will lie and so any too much turanchi raises a flag for them.

But most importantly , and this is for anyone who understands Americans , is that they rely on eye contact and most Nigerians don't seem to be able to maintain eye contact. To an American , that is a sign someone is lying.
forget the eye contact bullshit.
See America, they have already done there research and know the region of a particular country who who want to Japa for drug and the rest. Or just runaway.
You will hardly see a northerner been denied visa. undecided
You know why?

Wouldn't that be for people that use those platforms? I've not used used any of those platforms for at least 6 years. And when I used them, I almost never posted content there

Then you are illusive to them and as such more dangerous than you can imagine in their own eyes.

The greatest thing that can happen to anyone today is finding him or herself in the US without any trace on their database.

No entry record that will hold your bio data on your passport.

If you can somehow find yourself on the Mexican border without flying and from there cross the land border without documentation ,then be rest assured you will become a ghost and can assume as many false or stolen identities and if you keep your head down and don't get into any foolish shit, you will live in America like a king .

Your story didnt add up.
Your body language at the point of saying all those matters too.

Coming back to look for job while your father or family have such a 'successful business' was a red flag.

Nice try, never give up.
Give it a try again or try another location.

All the best to you.

Why did u cut off when talking about your dad?

Trying to straighten out the conflicting lies. If all you're going to the US for is to learn cookery and return to Nigeria to set up a bakery and all that, you've pissed on your own visa request. You can as well do it in any third rate private catering school in Nigeria here and still open and manage a first class bakery. That's the logic, that's inevitably one of the reasons. A friend of mine was denied American visa for the reason I gave above. The very first question the vo gave him was , ' What are going to do in the US ' . Thinking that he had to play it smart and also wanting to impress the vo , he said, ' I'm going there to study HOROLOGY ' . The vo said ,' that's alright . But why don't you go to Switzerland, it's much better choice than the US because they make the best watches in the world ' He smiled at him and GBAM ,Visa denied.

Just move on bro and try again.

They're not crazy but they're well trained to detect lies and poke holes in your submission and statements.
You need to read their mind and stay ahead of your game when next you visit them.

Even as a permanent resident holder I encountered something similar at Chicago Airport inward from London on the 1st of July 2023, can you imagine ? Asking me why did I travel and for what reason. I have the right to get angry but I dear not because the border agent has every power at that point to do anyhow which they recognized too,its a mind game bro
How much more someone that has not been to the states before.

U.S visa interview is quite technical and subjective. Most of the others on the thread have answered your questions. The VO can typically deny you because they just don't like something about you or they are in a bad mood. However, in playing your own part, you have to

You have to prove that

1) You can afford your education through your sponsor or a scholarship
2) There is a good reason that you will come back. In your case you could have suggested that you will come back to manage your fathers brakery and introduce new recipes bla bla bla bla. Given the huge level of unemployment in Nigeria, no VO will believe that you will come back to look for job especially since your Dad is as you said making 50 million naira annually.
3) You didnt even talk about the school you're going to. Why did you chose that school? Why not a school in any other place in the world? When VO asked what are you postgraduate plans. You would have started with the school you're going to what skills and knowledge you will pick from there and tied that to your dad's new potential subsidiary and how you're planning to go into bakery in the future since it's a very lucrative business.

So your story didnt add up.

At the end even if you conjure the sweetest believable tale ever, you must still say it with utmost confidence and sincerety ever. lol. Remember nothing wey dem never hear before.

Whether the VO will now believe you is left to you and your God. However, atleast you will have done your own part.

I have a question though? are you planning to come back? lol. The VO knows you're likely not. But hey you have to prove to them that you would since this is part of the requirements to be granted a student visa. lol

What is disheartening are the non-refundable fees that the applicants pay for a visa refusal.

It is obvious that the United States embassy and consulates are being maintained by visa application fees. As long as the money keeps flowing in, they will continue this mode of operation. Who would reject a "business" of making over N50m each working day?

What can we do?

If a foreign entity snubs you, you may snub them back. Only apply for a US visa if it is very important to you and there is no other option. Boycott the US visa application if possible.

Consider the US visa application as a gamble; only pay the application fees with money that you can afford to lose (in other words, money that you do not need for anything else).

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), agents and lawyers, who are involved in immigration issues may start a campaign against US visa applications. Let the general public be sensitized against wasting hard-earned money on a foreign entity, especially when there is no positive result.
swears Bro! They should be refunding at least 50% of that visa fee.

At least our government should do something abt it.If they are compelled to refund part of the money in so doing they increase the number of ppl they give visa cox they know they have something to loose.

U need to see dy rate of rejection at the embassy if u heart no strong u fit even go back before it's ur turn to be interviewed cox at a time it seems the VO was doing dy rejection 4 fun
