Water baptism is a show business to show the public (those who care to know that you have renounced your old ways of life). Just like it is during the baptism of John.

Today, if you still wana abide with it, no problem. But it is the same thing as accepting altar call. Showing the church now physically that u have accepted their way as taught in the bible.

Let's fix Nigeria first. Religious houses littering everywhere, name of God in all Nigerian languages on everyone's lips still things are going downhill with lightning speed. God's name and open religious identification should be criminalized for Nigeria to move forward. There should not be a powerful sultan and bishops above the country's elected president. Only then can we progress.

Altar call.

After giving your life to Christ, the next step is water baptism which is you denouncing the world and resurrecting with Christ. Usually, some classes called believers'/ baptismal classes are taken to further teach the new convert about Christ before the baptism.

This is different from the sprinkling of water done on Children in some churches; those children are neither old enough to give their lives to Christ nor follow the way prescribed in the Bible: immersion in water.

Like Jesus said, he did it to fulfill all righteousness. Holy ghost baptism is of great importance to Christians.

Being absolute is a red flag I look out for too and speak against. However when the Word is the yardstick, the word declares the absolute stance not me. Example enroute to Heaven, through the judgement halls, one of the ciritcal qualities that would be examined are the fruits of the spirit. How does one outside the Holy spirit bear His fruits?

I wont say doctored but I get what are trying to say. I will say the bible was written by men like you and I and everyone else. Those men had good intentions, to create rules and standards that guide humanity. Rules that make us work toward peace, harmony, and good deeds.

Baptism is required for those who are able. The eunuch was baptized by Phillip right when he saw the lake. The thief at Christ's right hand could not come down from the cross in order to get baptized. We are supposed to get baptized if we are able. It is a sign to other Christians that we are in Christ. If you can't, you can't. Only God knows the intention of your heart. Jesus was baptized in order to fulfill all righteousness
