Then what happens when another coupists overthrow this present ones?

These things are not new to Africa. From one coup, it starts to increase.

If ECOWAS does not stop this one now, forget it oh. It is over

So u support ECOWAS going heads-on with Russia-backed coupists ? It will only end in disaster for all concerned except RUSSIA and the US who will be financing the proxy war.

We have a lot to lose if violence erupts in Niger because ECOWAS wants to stamp its feet on a sovereign nation’s internal issues.

The problem is people in the country support them.. That's 1
2) they are also a buffer between us and Sudan and our intervention can also lead to civil war in Niger.

The border between us and them is porous as Bleep and we are already spread thin. THIS FOR ME IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE.

3) we don't know the number of international interests in Niger.

Point is which ever way we choose to act, it's still going to present issues.
Which is why I said it's another angle. Whether it makes sense or not is still a possible reality sadly.

And who told you Niger people support this coup?

Stop falling for cheap propaganda, there was an anti-coup protest this morning by bozoum people.

It’s foolhardy to think that the Majority of Niger support a foolhardy coup, when the first reaction to the coup was an Anti coup protest in the capital hours to the coup announcement.

But the coupist have activated their propaganda, distributing Russia flag to their tribe member.

There’s a reason they just announced a ban of social media , you think if they are enjoying people support they will ban social media.

Are you advocating for armed intervention?

Please take this as an honest question, not an attempt to cast aspersions.

If the dialogue won't work, please let there be armed intervention

My only fear is that our armed forces are overstretched.

I am sure the Nigeriens have a place for impeaching their president. Let that crowd go back and activate that clause through their lawmakers. Impeach him and then vote in the current coupist democratically.

Usurping power by force will give room for more. I have seen this movie many times

If that guy overthrows the president, VIOLENCE must erupt.

I'll take my chance with the one with a higher probability for peace

Exactly oo.
That wagner angle is a serious wahala.
It means that coup was probably backed by Russia and with the way the west has been vibrating since, let us not be dragged into a proxy war with how thinly spread our military is.

Thanks for this break down🙏

I detest the fact that America will look away when people are groaning under a democratically elected ; then the moment non state actors and coupists listen to the people’s groan; America starts saying “It’s democracy or nothing “

Lol, they are not Russian backed anything.

This is an ethnic coup, the president was from a minority tribe, they tried something similar in the beginning of the administration.

Wagner group is just being an opportunist, and the Coupist are trying to whip up anti west sentiment. Hence sponsoring protest and distributing Russian flags.

The Niger Military in the diffa region, the region the president comes from are not in support of the coup.

Omo, armed intervention will not be a good look ọ.
Pound for pound, if the Nigerian military alone marchés on Niger We will be IN Niamey in 12 hours.

But there are too many things to consider.

First, the Civilian population seems to support them.
Second, we'll be dragged into a proxy war against more powerful nations.
Third, the impact war will have on our northernmost states.

Abeg, armed intervention is a no no abeg.

Where were all these calls when Cameroon were killing their anglophone population? When other coups in Burkina Faso, Mali etc were launched? No abeg o

What an idiot, everything is about Agbado to you.

Imagine being Happy that your country neighbor is going through a turbulent time because your messiah didn’t win an election.

You better move on, the election is over. What a waste of human being.

When you put economic pressure on the newly Coup government, you have just signed an unwritten agreement to let refugees invade your country

The exact same thing we want to avoid.

Hope you know that?

The major issue here is that the coupists have the support of the citizens. Harsh sanctions can turn that tide, and only then can armed intervention be considered.

We can take that risk if we beef up our border security.

But armed conflict, that risk is greater.

Lmao.

And our people who have no knowledge of Niger, think that the Nigerien are in support of the coup.

The first protest that emerged after the coup was against the military, but they were shot at and rounded up.

Always falling for cheap propaganda, Nigerians disappointing me heavily sometimes.
