The whole screening thing is pretty much a charade, given that portfolios haven't been assigned... a very shambolic ministerial selection process.

What were you expecting?

If they had portfolios I'm sure it won't be as shambolic. It's like trying to interview a person for a non-descript job, it's always going to be lame.

I read this morning that this ousted president coming to power in 2021 was the first peaceful transition of a new government since Niger gained independence. That means prior to 2021 democracy, (the way America wants it practiced ) hasn't been practiced in that country.

2021-2023 and the country is back to it's default settings.

I think a "big brother country" like France and USA interested in having democracy entrenched is such country with history of political conflict should first try to investigate the causes of these constant political instability and try to help them solve some of it. It should not just be America shouting "DEMOCARY OR NOTHING" when shiiit hits the fan.

You remember how Nigeria kept falling back to military rule back to back. It is not because Nigerians love military rule, it's because our military guys are power hungry and they felt they can always usurp powers with little or no consequences. Until the people themselves say enough is enough, this will continue to happen. The US or France will just be blamed unnecessarily.

I agree with you that Ragner and Russia will have it hard in comparison to the US. However, I don’t want anyone to misconstrue the purpose of US military bases.

Over the last 3 months, Putin has been intentional in securing Africa’s support. He is forgiving loans, giving helicopters and other monetary incentives.

Well hopefully dialogue works.

Na so politics be.

Make these ministers just perform. Na my own be that.

Hopefully Tinubu won't be like Buhari that dont sack or change dormant and incompetent ministers.

Set KPIs for them and put machinery in place to review each ministry quarterly.

You can make a reasonable prediction on the outcome of a thing by observing the process of that thing. It's funny that principles we apply to everyday life, we fail to apply to politics.

There's something about that Abuja that changes most of them. Amaechi said the only thing they do there is share money cheesy

There is something I'm even suspecting and I'll confirm if Wike is made Minister of ND.

Remember that part of the ring road between Eleme and Town through Okirika I talked about. It may seem as though Wike knew he will be minister of ND, made sure SIM excluded it from the contract he awarded so he can use NDDC to implement it cheesy

I like how we we are pretending Niger has been this beacon of democracy all this time. This has been an unstable country for a very long time so this idea that this coup will suddenly start one war that will lead to this upsurge of refugees Nigeria has never seen before is quite wild to me.

Invasion is very easy to start when it will end is what you cannot predict as even Putin is finding out.

Best case scenario is to try what they're trying in places like Guinea and Mali. Military coupists rarely enter and stay in perpetuity unless in few instances, I mean even Abacha and IBB tried transitioning to Agbada.

This is a pelepele matter, ko gba agidi. If you say Niger is landlocked, Sudan, Algeria will not act in interest of ECOWAS so don't be naive. Nothing consign them with us

It's actually not surprising, and minus Wike, all the other ministerial candidates have people that would have spoken for them ahead of their screening (especially the ones who can't stand proper scrutiny, or feel too big to be scrutinized), so it's to be expected really.

They'd probably have a few of the brighter ones like Dele Alake, El-Rufai and others face some light scrutiny so they look like they did something, and so their online propaganda arm fit use push narrative of Tinubu knowing how to pick technocrats, but it's clear what this selection by BAT is, just funny seeing people pretend like it's something else.

Buhari is one guy that will give you a job and he will just trust you to do your job well. He hardly interfares. Some people will always take advantage of that.

Fashola put it so well. That Tinubu and Buhari has different leadership qualities.

That Buhari is like a football coach that prepares his team, give instructions to the players and go and sit at the dugout for 90 minutes believing that there will carry out his instructions.

That Tinubu after preparing his team, will be at the touchline still giving instructions while the game is going on. Pep Guardiola grin grin grin.

This one Tinubu said recently that many touch decisions will be put in place to reposition Nigeria. E get as e be oh. Make en hold break small. Things are getting tougher walahi.

Ministerial nomination is mostly to settle people who helped you there. Those who sacrificed to get you there. You need people to get there and these people will seek their own interests too. Its one of the beauty of democracy and also one of the drawbacks.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by donjazzet: 3:10pm On Jul 31, 2023
What I've just observed right now is that it's the agbado supporters here that has just introduced this narrative of tribe.

This people see every single thing through the lens of tribe. It's always about tribe tribe tribe even though we've not seen anything related to that from the news in Niger.

I suspect that the APC propaganda channels introduced this notion of tribe in continuation of consolidation of support for bat just incase some Nigerians are thinking of ever doing the same.
Divide and rule by tribe is all these people know.

Yea, I get it, I just wish we didn't have a president with too many politicians to settle. Tinubu's ascent to the presidency was driven primarily by politicians, and that many persons to settle is too much of a drag on his decision-making and eventual performance as president.

Ohh I see!!!

It's no longer about "BAT will select the best heads, regardless of whose ox is gored".

When we were saying the exact same thing that Tinubu will simply recycle the current corrupt political class, for selfish games, these same people countered it with "Tinubu will select the best technocrats". That he did it in Lagos.

Now it has now become, "hey, that's the reality of politics, he will employ those that will help his election bid, It's the same in many countries ".

Such a shameless bunch.

Gbam!!
It's not like we didn't shout this point aloud from the rooftops!!

"Voting Tinubu is consolidating on the current corrupt ruling elite class because his campaign was powered by these same wicked corrupt people" we said.

Voting an obi whose movement was powered by the youths around the hitherto largely unknown people would be a revolution as good as any. We said. But these people kept drumming the single line, "bat will select the best people in his government". He doesn't care whose ox is gored. He is no one's puppet.

Today the story has changed now that we're seeing a very terrible list of same corrupt and murderous politicians like Wike, Ibori, and the Stooges of the main players. It is now "accept it, it's the reality, it's how politics is".

These people are evil by nature.
