When you see a Kabu Kabu bus zoom past a stationary 2020 prado jeep on 3rd mainland bridge... you will know why electrical fault is worse than mechanical.

Electrical problem gives headache even when I have money. I remember buying alternator, injector, water pump for just a single wire problem.

Electrical of course.

Mechanical faults are easy to diagnose. Not so much with electrical faults.

Bro the second hand value is terrible. I speak from experience. It’s also hard to get buyers. But most importantly be careful with your gear it’s very scare to replace.

It's electrical fault because we don't have good rewire and most of them don't even know how to use scanners.

I drive C-Class Benz and I can attest; it’s a strong machine and I hardly buy parts. However, it is known for more electrical faults than mechanical. I patronize car electricians (rewire) more and occasionally check mecho.

On the same vein, I've heard of some car brands like Toyota/Honda having less electrical but more mechanical faults of major components such as engine or gear. So, which do you think is worse and more financial drain per your experience?
Electrical

Difficult to diagnose and fix

Elecetrical, very hard to locate in most cases
sometimes you even confuse it for mechanical

In my opinion, electrical faults are more frustrating than mechanic faults in cars....That's why I can buy a vehicle with a knocked engine/gear but wouldn't come within 10 kilometres of a flooded vehicle...

Worst case with a mechanical fault is to replace the entire component, be it gear, engine or whatever.. But some electrical faults are village people on steroids.... Tears unlimited.. .

Some cars makes like Peugeot and Mercedes are more susceptible to these logic defying electrical issues, especially as they get older, compared to the Japanese vehicles..

Some Electrical faults will make you envy those trekking... A 'simple' parasitic drain of a car battery when parked overnight have led many into a bottom-less pit of expenses..

And the worst thing is that most naija car electricians will creat another or even multiple electrical faults while trying to solve one... Those guys are very good at bonanzas.. Solve one problem and get three for free grin

Electrical fault is sometimes more difficult to trace.

Electrical o.....can make a car park for years without solution except you locate an electrician that has dealt with such issues before. I can attest to this.

No doubt abt it. If u think or say mechanical is worse, then obviously you know nothing. I mean nothing abt cars. I've seen a brand new car burn to ashes cos of electrical fancy lite she admired and asked a rewire to fix.

DIFFERENCES! WHY DO YOU THINK MOST BENZ , VW, AND BMW ENGINES LAST LONGER,

REASONS - They have more sensors attached to there engines than normal japanese cars, this are also backed up by the ECM ( brain box) which signals are sent to from the sensors and triggers alot of electrical issues including shutdown on motions or at will. Untill u have a good diagnosis to check and scan what the fault is and probably replace the sensors bad and reprogram the brain box to work with the new components replaced.
Hence it saves the engine from severe damages that's why the engine last more.

JAPANESE CARS - HONDA AND TOYOTAS, - Their engine are also backed with few sensors. But not as much as the Germans. And most of the major electricals are backed up by relays and fuses. And the technical ones are attached to the ECM brain box. That's why on a Toyota u can see a lot of errors on the dashboard screen and it would still run for months without not having much effects, but it's killing the engine gradually. Reasons why people tend to replace Toyota engines often. Cos they are not as strong as Honda engines.

Electricals are seriously complicated In our society that we have quack electrical engineers

grin grin Electrical o , that one fit make you catch witch .

I have seen someone with 3 vehicles resort to hiring Keke for his movements because of Electrical wahala in all the vehicles ..

Worse is that you can easily detect a Mechanical fault and give direct instructions to the Mechanics but that of Electrical , hmmn , Electrician can look at your bonnet and tell you the Okplom Gadget switch is faulty whereas it's just a minor issue of joining two wires which disconnected ...

hmm, seems you have not encountered a viral electric problem in your car, infact some electrical issues are impossible to solve,I once have a nice car an Acura that has flood problems, the car is excellent mechanically, infact it is the most reliable car I have driven, but somedays you can put the AC on and the headlights will come on,you can wind down your side glass and the AC will switch off,you can park your car, switch off the ignition, pocket your keys and the AC fan can start by 1am in the night with the 6 loader cd blasting music, how can you correct sometime like that

Most of the problems stem from electricians who don't have the requisite tools for diagnosis. They resort to bypass connections to fix problems and end up messing the whole car up.

/
My car's day-time running lights stopped working 3 days ago so I went to an electrician to get it fixed and then walked to a nearby shop to eat. When I came back I noticed the guy had bought wires and was connecting from one end to another. I had to ask him to remove every single thing he had done while he was busy protesting blablabla.

This morning, I went to another electrician yesterday and the guy changed the bulbs without any hassles.

The worst thing that can happen to anyone is a bad rewire
