Knocks For Sanwo-olu’s Wife For Describing Lagos Doctor’s Death as ‘arrow Fired’ by Racoon(m): 7:20am On Aug 04, 2023
Netizens have continued to react to a viral video of the Lagos State First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, where she attributed the death of Dr. Vwaere Diaso in an elevator accident at the General Hospital Odan, Lagos Island to an “arrow fired into the health family”.

The PUNCH gathered that Diaso was in the elevator on her way to get her food from a dispatch rider when the incident happened on Tuesday. She was rushed to the emergency ward of the hospital where she was confirmed dead.

Following this, her colleagues besieged the premises of the hospital in protest on Wednesday and grounded activities at the hospital.

Also in protest, the Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, and Secretary, Ismail Ajibowo, directed all doctors working in the three government hospitals on Lagos Island to begin an indefinite strike.

In the viral video, Mrs. Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the protesters,  linked the incident to the helicopter accident that occurred in the state earlier on Tuesday.

She said, “An arrow has been fired into the health family. The first of August is a day I will never forget
The same day a helicopter crashed, the same day a lift dropped down. How? How? How?”

Her comments didn’t however, go down well with several aggrieved Twitter users who criticized the Lagos First Lady for making such comments.

Her comments didn’t however, go down well with several aggrieved Twitter users who criticized the Lagos First Lady for making such comments.

They described the unfortunate incident as a consequence of poor maintenance of the elevator by the hospital management and not any metaphysical attack.

A tweep, @ceemancy declared, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong and at the worst possible time….Murphy’s law. That’s why maintenance is very important”

His tweet was also re-echoed by another tweep, @deesick, who said, “How? Negligence, nonchalance, carelessness. That’s how”

In the same vein, @DieuEmeka blamed the death of Dr. Diaso on the failure of government.

He tweeted, “The how is simple nah. The government which her husband heads failed to maintain the lift. There was no arrow. It was simply a result of corruption and irresponsibility on the part of the government. That is what, why, and how.”

However, the Lagos State Government said it had set up a panel of inquiry to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident and promised to sanction anyone found culpable.

May God comfort the family of the bereaved. You can't blame the woman for being an extension of women in Nigeria today.

It's as you have it in Yoruba tradition as well, "ise aye ni, kiise ojulasan". Then the next thing is to call for "etutu awon alale" and "awon orisa to ye kati bo, tao bo, ti won n binu".

This scenario is just a Christian version of this same typical Yoruba worldview. Sometimes it will manifest in high places and it just did.

We all have the moment we succumb to reasoning and power beyond our control.

This is the main problem with you apc supporters. That you want to support a government dosent mean you must support every nonsense that they say or do. Recieve sense for once.

If your daughter fell in an elevator due to poor management and someone who dosent know you personally comes to give a stupid opinion about your condition spiritually will you like it? Just be quiet

In a sensitive matter like this the best thing to do is wish the mourning family your condolences and move on. Instead of saying what you dont know. What she said was unnecessary and insensitive.

Maybe you should learn how to be objective and stop being emotional.
What exactly is wrong with what madam Sanwo-Olu said?

Okay leave his wife. It might even be a close friend or colleague that might have said such about your daughter. It dosent change the fact that it is insensitive

Very true, though I'm not holding brief for her but connecting the fall of helicopter with the lift accident is saying something diabolical is targeted against Lagos State.

In that sense, she has taken the place of the bereaved and make Lagos State the victim in this case. It's unfortunate, but she's not known for any wrongdoing in the past.

People in high places are not always "social smart" in all cases, so we shouldn't expect beyond what we often get, she might be a great woman in some other area.

She's just been religious at the wrong time.

I believe in spiritual attacks. But my issue is that do you have proof that it was?

Not everything in life is an attack. Some is due to negligence and poor maintenance.

If you your car tire is smooth and you allow your loved ones to drive it like that or drive without a spare tire, if anything happens on the road or they get stuck or car skids when rain is falling and have accident, it is not a spiritual attack..its negligence on your part. I wont engage you again because you apc supporters are know for being zombies that will still defend anything apc even if you catch tinubu on top of your mother.

You can imagine the bunch of primitive thinkers managing Lagos. Now why won’t the state be in a state of comatose if its managers have this kind of primitive and animistic mentality?

In the 21st century, a bombastic fool who is married to a yabaleft patient and an assistant drug dealer to Ebola Tinubu, is still ascribing natural phenomenon to “spiritual arrows”.

This kind of primitivism and animism existed only in Ancient Greece where even rain was seen as the gods urinating.

But since Sir Isaac Newton’s Principia Mathematica in the 18th centuries, natural occurrences such as this act of negligence that resulted in Dr Vwaere’s death, stopped being ascribed to the gods.

But this fool, that is married to a mental patient, is trying to hide their denigration of duty to some inexistent arrows, and fools are here defending her.

Shame🤦

Her statement wouldn't have caused any backlash on her if the situation surrounding the accidents were not the way they are.

Firstly if you look at why the people are attacking her, it is mainly because of the lift acccident, the helicopter accident is not really the focus of the backlash, like I said earlier the situations behind the events are the major concern here.

Though the helicopter accident might be a case of negligence, it has no evidence of that yet, but the case of the lift accident has proof of high negligence which is not a spiritual issue.

Let me ask you a question:
If you handed your child over to a boarding house and gave them enough money to feed your child and there was enough evidence from other students that your child was not been fed well and they all kept on complaining to the school and the school did nothing about it and your child died, can you accept with the school that the case was spiritual?

That's a similar case with what happened here, go back and read the news and the reports given from other doctors working there, they have been complaining about that lift and nothing was done, how do you attribute that to something spiritual?

If there were no complaints about the lift and everything was fine with the lift, then it may have been a different story, attributing the case to spirituality will be very annoying to the victim's family and loved ones, the same way you will be annoyed if the boarding house you kept your child told you that your child's death is spiritual when they clearly were starving your child.

Please let's be guided, a lot of Nigerians believe in spirituality but when there is overwhelming evidence of negligence it becomes a different case, this has nothing to do with politics....

Why would anyone have such animistic mentality in the 21st century, why?

And to make matters worse, it’s the wife of a public servant, wife of a governor.

Does she want to drag us back to Stone Age when everything was attributed to the gods?
