When will African countries, especially the educated minds start holding their leaders primarily accountable for the state of the continent, instead of the West?

He who pays the piper dictates the tone.

These useless, greedy leaders to a large extent are foisted upon Africans by the West, they’re like lapdogs who must do the biddings of their masters. We’ve had countless crises, electoral malpractices etc that have been aided and abetted by the West over the years, which were all swept under the rug.

I was just watching a video on my phone of Emmanuel Macron hugging and holding the just ousted stroke ridden Ali Bongo, the latter was literally shaking to death right from his convoy to the podium where he stood with the French president. Unfit to rule, but accepted and backed by his colonial masters to run for a third term.

If you look at the effects of the West’s imperialism in Africa, the sort driven by the greed of adventurers like Cecil Rhodes and George Goldie, you can’t help but think they’re behind every misfortune that has plagued this black continent.

Our leaders are in Washington today, tomorrow they’re in Paris. All being summoned around like schoolchildren, these are not good optics for the continent.

Try to stand for what is right, and you’ll be taken out like Patrice Lumumba and Thomas Sankara.

Larride clearly didn't mean "extremely popular". Trendy in this case is same as wokeness - trying to align with whatever the new trend is right now.

To me, the whole thing is now looking like a fashion trend. Same way people ridiculing the existence of God and referring to Christ as a mere character in the Bible appears like every one forcing themselves to belong.
Wokeness is the birth of cancel cultures. Every one wants to sound woke.

Attention is a Hella drug to females.

Wokeness is the new drug now...for both sexes.

You're all sorts of wrong here, I don't even know which to highlight.

But first, there are indeed people who do not believe in the existence of God, at least the version being described by organised religions like Christianity, Judaism, Baha'i, janaism and the rest.
People who are Christians or Moslems are only such because they clearly haven't exposed themselves to the other major religions around the world.
The minute you gain sufficient exposure to other religions practiced around the world, their set of rules and doctrine, it inevitability triggers a curiosity and self consciousness about the absurdity of irrational beliefs.
When you hear that women go their entire lives not driving, or not shaking hands with a man because of her religion or never ever exposing her hair outside her home, or Hindus never eating cow beef and chicken that both of us love, then you see the absurdity of it.

So no my dear bro, atheism is not about "being WOKE" (a term I'm sure you can't actually define), atheism is the rejection of belief in a supreme deity or being due to lack of evidence.

I no fit shit na west, We blame west for removing Gadaffi yet blame west for not removing Paul Biya. The same Camerounians will go to the polls and vote Biya then blame the west for it

When you vote someone be it Bongo Biya Mugabe do you expect the west to come and help you remove him so that you can put another round of blames on them

Of course, Tinubu provided the intense media propaganda arm that shoved Buhari as the answer and better alternative to PDP in our faces. Then Tinubu also came out and consistently praised Buhari brainwashing us all with his narrative of Buhari being the antidote to PDP's corruption. Telling us Buhari was a totally corruption-free individual.

You know what I didn't do though, consistently defend Buhari even when it was obvious he was making a mistake.

Eyah Donjazet the helpless. embarassed

Tinubu deceived you in 2015 and also deceive you in 2019 to be one of Buhari strongest supporters on this board even when he wasn't on the ticket.

How can he was unable to deceive you to vote for him considering he was now on the ticket himself in 2023?

You trust Tinubu in 2015 and 2019 and suddenly dont trust him in 2023? cheesy

Bros what were these countries like pre military coup?
If the people get tired of the military and scream for civilian rule then that's fine.

Change is constant till one of them clicks.

That's not the basis of my question tho, is it?

She says she admires Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, I'm simply asking what has changed since the coupist took control of those countries that warrant admiration?

That highlighted statement is the base of your argument and where you keep getting it wrong.

Support for gay people isn't in vogue, especially for us here. You yourself are witnessing how I'm being consistently ridiculed for being pro-gay rights, pro-women, an atheist and so on. But I power on despite being dragged about this because it is my deeply held personal conviction.

You can see how loudly people are speaking against gay people here and the corresponding likes on those hateful posts and you can see that no one except me is speaking in favor of these disadvantaged minorities.
At this point we're going around in circles because you are making a blatantly false sentence.

Being in support of gay people is not popular by any stretch here. Anyone who supports gay rights or gay people here is very strongly rebuked. When the ratio for something is like 85% disapproval vs 15% approval, there is no way you would say it is "trendy" when heavily against the tide.
No, the base of my argument is that trendy does not necessarily mean the position of the majority, which was what you initially said Laride referred to.

It's trendy to be gay, alte, gender non-conforming/fluid and whatever else, especially amongst today's gen Z's/millenials, does it mean it's the position of a majority of Gen Z's and by extension the general population, NO, but it's sure trendy, and you are on that train of trendy.

People like posts for a number of reasons, and it's not always because they support the position the person making the post is making. Seankaf0r's posts are quite funny, I throw likes on a fair number of his posts even in situations when I don't agree with the posts in particular, the same way some persons like posts because they like the poster or because they don't like the person a posters posts are targeted at or even as a form of trolling.

What people need to understand as IBB the grand daddy of coups has posited in his interviews. Coups rarely happen in isolation, it is either the army is disgruntled or the people are disgruntled and it makes it easier for coups to happen.

Let's see how many countries AU or ECOWAS can invade at once.

When people clamor for credible elections and solid institutions it is for avoidance of things like this. The army are not fools, even if gullible supporters of these dictators think they can get away with sham elections remember they still require the help of the military to pull it off

This is not about whether military rule or coups are a good thing. It's about the so called civilian rulers to sit up and recognize they will be the next victim if they keep misusing their powers

These people are lucky. In barbaric times they could have been executed.

How can one family be in charge of a country since 1967?? Kilode

Of course some might use Singapore as example but I'm sure if Gabon was at Singapore level nobody will complain

It was French military that overpowered Lauren Gbagbo of Ivory Coast and handed power to Allasane Ouatarra.

French Embassy in Niger has refused to shutdown and their military base refused to close.

ETC

European government install criminal leadership in Africa so that they can continue to rule. Coups are just the only way to attempt a correction until another criminal comes to power.

Yes indeed, I was deceived by Tinubu that they were the answer to our problems and then I weighed up the fact that it was either them or PDP who had indeed normalised corruption in nigeria and I carefully decided to experiment with them and that experiment has proven a failure.

Now what does this have to do with my post.

Because it's almost like you're saying that because I voted the APC, I should never condemn and criticize them?

Does that seem like a reasonable proposition to you?

Do you believe that anyone who for whatever reason voted for the APC and Buhari should never acknowledge that their choice failed but should instead double down like the larrides and the dayo's and further entrench that failure??

You think it would be best if I stuck to APC no matter what even though I know the APC has failed? I should never point out how they failed us?
Because if that's not your point, then it's highly irrelevant to keep repeating this point whenever one points out the failure of this party that continues to doom nigeria.

So who is to say Buhari didn't deceive Tinubu grin
