I asked if you are a child because you clearly don't know how international trade works

Nobody with spare refining capacity will buy your refined products. Oil is sold in barrels as raw crude as standard except the buyer does not have their own refining capacity. Even behemoths like Saudi and Russia sell raw crude. Nobody dey beg you for market, market price determines all things.

If you want refinery, you can make it a condition of tender and see who bites.

Nigeria has 3 refineries with Dangote to come on board. Even Dangote did not site his refinery in Niger Delta where the crude is lifted but set his refinery up to receive shipments in Lagos. It wouldn't matter if Dangote bought crude from Niger Delta or abroad he will still pay the market price which is currently fluctuating between $70 and $90.

It is up to you to add value to things. You can use $10m of Uranium to run a $10bln nuclear power plant, you say someone should build $10bln plant for you to buy $10m of uranium from you, when they can buy uranium elsewhere. Is that a joke?

You (Niger) don't even have capacity to run a nuclear plant nor have that much need for power, nor anywhere near the funds for yearly operational costs of a nuclear plant. Common Kainji dam already takes care of most of your power needs.

So your statement was just laughable and not worth discussing seriously, sorry if you found offence in it. I couldn't kill myself to point out obvious things.

The discussion was not about international trade but Western influence in the making of African leaders. The point was that having the bulk of the world's raw materials, if our leaders were independent they could drag industrialization into Africa through proper negotiations. If you had quoted my complete post, you would see where I was driving at.

I said so because I am informed that the reasons our refineries cannot work is because of suppression by the West using the leaders they have installed or control over the years. Nigeria would stop importing fuel for instance. This would create jobs and also bring development.

So the point of discussion was about Western influence in choosing African leaders.

Diss.troy how true is this?

True. But Prospa, let's be honest - you and I are from core oil-producing communities.

Let's begin with the below:

Oil companies pay certain monies to host communities quarterly. Not yearly, but QUARTERLY - every 3 months.

Jobs and scholarships are allotted to these communities too.

Ask your paramount rulers, LGA Chairmen, and HoR members what they do with these regular allotments. They never make noise about it, but give it to their cronies or outrightly auction these allotments to the highest bidders.

Happens in Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta States especially. Are we going to blame that on the FG too?

No guarantees same wouldn't happen when the PIB stipulations are implemented. So, no, I'm not pumped about it.

Spy360:

No. You completely misunderstood me.

Let me start by saying based of eoconics, It is a known fact that better business management mean locating industries at the source of the major raw materials to reduce cost of production. So these companies would be willing to do so.

Corrupt African leaders have meant that our industries remain dead so that we continue to depend on foreign industries for finished goods whereas if we negotiated we could have those industries located here thereby creating jobs etc.

But we lose these jobs, and still have to pay expensively for the finished goods to be brought back. This process favours the West.

It is my opinion that Western powers ensure this happens by aiding these corrupt leaders to remain in power.

If you want to argue, do it based on the immediate paragraph above (bolded) if that is not your opinion. Stop deviating.

We import wheat from somewhere, Should those countries also ensure and mandate that we use their bakeries to make bread to follow your logic

the oil Saudi and Qatar is selling to the West are they insisting on the West refining it in Saudi after paying you for the goods you sold. Actually economics and trade demands that when a transaction is consummated, the buyer should immediately take possession. If you want them to situate their refinery there, then dont collect money for the crude.

How do Western powers ensure that corrupt leaders remain in power? Do they vote in our elections? Did they vote OBJ, Buhar Jonathan or Tinubu? Did they vote Chime, Obi TA Orji, Fayose, Alao Akala and Dapo Abiodun?

Was it not fellow Africans voting these people into power? When Biya keeps winning elections according to the Camerounian constitution suggest what the West should do?

To be a supporter means you will sold them to other people, you will have spoken well on their behalf numerously, you will have fought for them and defended them. Can you show me doing that for them?

Can you show izzou, an Obi voter, supporting Obi?

I am yet to get answers to these questions from our anti-west narrators.

1. Why are African borders closed to each other for trade and investment?

2. Why are African passports closed to fellow African countries for travel/ tourism and immigration?

3. How am I able to travel around Africa easily when I present a foreign passport than when I present a Nigerian passport?

4. Thoughts and comments about the Gabonese president and his cabinet found with millions of stolen cash and still asking us to "Make noise".

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

https://www.nairaland.com/7825141/last-time-nigerias-economy-stable

So the last time Nigeria's economy was stable was a decade ago(under PDP)

E just remain small make Tinubu and his appointees open mouth talk true say APC's 8+ rule has been a colossal failure . na small e remain like this

It's difficult to juxtapose saying you were Buhari's biggest supporter with you now saying your support was lukewarm, similar to Izzou's for Peter Obi. I don't expect Izzou to even in the peak of excitement say he was Peter Obi's biggest supporter because there's just no basis from where that feeling/statement would come. For you to have said you were Buhari's BIGGEST SUPPORTER, you at worst were a solid supporter of the man, maybe just not the biggest like you were trying to claim.

The reasons our refinery doesn't work is not because West appointed NNPC DG. Our refineries have worked from 1970s to early 2000s. I live directly opposite PH refinery

We don't have the bulk of the world's raw materials either and don't produce anywhere near others. Pull up top 5 producers of Oil, Gold, Iron, Coal, Copper, Silver, Uranium and you won't see us there. You might see one. So you are woefully underinformed on what you are talking about and your deductions derive from lack of information

In all these, take note, that there has barely been any post that supports the notion that I was "Buhari's strongest supporter".

No single policy defense, no cover up for their failures and fvck ups, instead you have constant rebuke of the party and those still supporting the party.

A hyperbolic statement made only once in 8 years doesn't stand.

You think nihilist and others wouldn't have dug up any supporting statement if it existed?
