Happy day family
I've been a ghost reader on nairaland for almost 12 years now. Favourite section is the literature section . Matter of fact, I found nairaland while searching for novels online. Literature landers would recall when the likes of Audrey Tims and her ilk held sway(great moments)
To cut to the chase, I'm an introvert but very adventurous. I discovered that I got these hyperactivity from my mum. Now in her late forties,my mum is still vivacious and adventurous but the problem is her visual capabilities.
She can do a lot of things like soap making, tailoring and business (buying and selling) but you would agree with me that, you can really do little with a bad eyesight.
Please my people, which other ways can I engage my mum maximally since she really needs her eyes to do the other things I listed above.
I believe she can still see very well again.
Some doctors suggested we fly her to India where she can receive expert medical treatment but, owo mi ti kekere.
This woman pampered and prayed for me even when doctors and friends wrote me off.
My heart really bleeds for her because I feel she is in pains psychologically though she acts fine most times.
There are days when she sees a bit clearly and other days when it seems like a fog is covering her eyes.
Please Nlfp,Dominique, justwise, help me move this to the front page. Mama is emotionally distraught.

Your mother is in her late 40s and she does not know what to do for herself and her failing vision?. undecided

I recommend you start by taking her to a mental health therapist so she can address whatever is keeping her from doing better for herself in this day and age. undecided

By the way, you didn't mention exactly what it is that is wrong with her eyesight. What was her diagnosis..undecided

Take her to General hospital Calabar.
Their rate is highly subsidized and expert care is received.

Are there really mad people on this forum or what? Mental health therapy? Are you kidding me? undecided I think you need this therapy more than her mom. She's complaining of her mom's visual predicament and you are here talking about therapy. undecided

Next time, read we before you dish out rubbish!

If u are in Lagos state, take ur mum to Catholic eye hospital at Agege. That's where my mum had her eye operation for same blurry vision and today, she can see clearly and better.

My sister had her eye operation at Aba in Abia state. It was done by an indian doctor and they were all successful.

Take your mum to Agege and locate the only Catholic hospital there pls.

Wishing her the best.

Yes we have done that and they recommended glasses and medications. Sadly, the situation has not improved.
I just want to know if there is anything she can do to keep her busy. She is always alone at home when we go to work.

A 40-something year old woman in this day and age who doesn't know the way to the doctor or psychiatrist when sick needs to go get her head checked immediately. That is just the reality of the world we are born into. lipsrsealed

2. Even my own mother who is many decades only than your mother knew where to turn when the same problem --- Glaucoma --- hit her in her late 50s. Stop making excuses abeg and get her engaged in reality of life today. If she is still internet illiterate then put her in front of a machine all day until she learns. How can I make excuses for someone of that age? Abegi undecided

By the way, you don't even seem to know exactly what her diagnosis is, how come? You mean she still hasn't visited an eye doctor or what? undecided

For that of Aba,the Indian doctor visited and my sister heard of it and she went down and paid the necessary bills and the operation went successfully well.

Keep her busy? She needs to get her eyes fixed. Something she should have done the moment she first noticed the problem. She shouldn't have allowed it to get as bad as it has is my beef, and worse, she is not even old, so what exactly is her excuse? lipsrsealed

There are opticians and optometrists on here at least. She could ask questions. She can peruse each of the diagnoses to ascertain whether the symptoms match her own. I mean come on. undecided

What exactly is the problem of her eyes,
Is it cataracts
If yes it can be operated upon

Is it glaucoma if yes Doctors knows better
