obiekunie01: The man is not a doctor to begin with and therefore not a member of NMA. It's the duty of the State Ministry of Health (or Department of Medical Services) to license and monitor facilities operating within their jurisdiction. Also, doctors can be verified at the NMA. |

Kekere is a conehead....he harvested their kidneys just as his homebase people harvest people's heads...only that he definitely didn't break their records of harvesting and mining a head/skull in a twinkle of an eye 1 Like |

The NMA can distance themselves all they want , but they share in the blame, since any carpenter, tailor or welder who has seen the inside of an operating room, or not, can just wake up and start a clinic, an in some cases, perform surgeries(as sacred an act as it is). There should be like a public internet portal where anyone can search a Medical Doctor either by name or ID to ascertain its authenticity and area of specialty, and not just Medical Doctors, but other Medical practitioners. But No. they'd rather shy away and focus on irrelevant stuffs. I hope we get it right someday 1 Like |

KendoRide:I tell you. Evil pervades the length and breadth of this country. Alot of people are being killed untimely in this country especially in the healthcare sector. Some people are there in the open drug markets killing Nigerians with fake drugs while others are in different quack private hospitals sending people to early graves. When you hear that life expectancy in Nigeria is as low as 48years for men and 52years for women, these are the causes. Since the goverment appears not to be serious in regulating the health sector, I think Nigerians should rise to the occasion and employ jungle justice on these unscrupulous killers. 1 Like |

But I thought there is a medical board in charge of visiting medical establishments to verify practitioners' credentials! He's been operating for 20yrs yet these people never checked him out! What a nonsense country! |

Creamypie: It's terrible. Most, if not all, stolen kidneys are exported to Arab nations where they cost like gold. It's a medical fact that the Arabs as a race have kidneys that get damage easily. Egypt is the first destination of choice,,then Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and all . Also Egyptian and Indian medical personnel are at the forefront of organ harvesting in the world. So, Indian and Egyptian clinics are suspect even here in Nigeria, but who cares. 1 Like |

[quote author=Mindlog post=125825605]] This up here is not accurate and it is misleading. I am licensed as doctor in Canada, the UK and Nigeria. The Medical and dental council of Nigeria(MDCN) is responsible for registration of doctors in Nigeria -not the NMA. You can find out if a doctor is registered on the MDCN . The MDCN has the legal power to sanction and license doctors. The NMA is just an association of doctors much like your old student association. it is a voluntary body. It has no legal power to license or sanction a doctor. It has no legal powers to monitor and inspect healthcare facilities The Ministry of Health(MOH) is the government body saddled with the responsibility of maintaining the healthcare of the citizenry. They are the body empowered to conduct registration, inspection, and licensing of healthcare facilities, they are thebody to fish out quacks and prosecute them accordingly. This gentleman is not a DOCTOR, he is an average Joe on the street that has opened a clinic in a remote area. He could as well be a smuggler, an armed robber, or a kidnapper- He is just a criminal. it is not the job of the mdcn or the NMA to catch him. There are thousands of them in the country. This here is the responsibility of bth federala dn states branch of the ministry of health. the NMA and MDCN should not even be involved. It is important for the citizenry to gather information about their "doctor". the information is there on the internet. You can also alert the MOH if you feel someone parading himself is not a real doctor.. |

I do not often jump on social media train for stories like this until investigations are concluded but those blaming NMA, or dragging hard working genuine doctors in the Mud, this piece might educate you on the various regulatory bodies. It is fairly long read but it might save your life or save you an organ. *This is my first ever post on nairaland I think. I am licensed as doctor in Canada, the UK and Nigeria. For the internet savvy, checked linkedin or facebook. Good healthcare is not cheap and that very cheap healthcare you are getting might be killing you- if it is too good to be true, it is not true. Xscape1993:it's d doctors that are partly responsible for dis issue.... If u go to d North or some part of d country you'll see community health officers conducting surgical operations... It's normal medical doctors that trains them....they learn surgery as if they are learning tailoring... Then they look for one sch of health and do 3 years course in community health science, get a license then open a hospital.... People wil think they're doctors but they ain't.... It's only when u dig deeper... I've seen one or 2... They'll tell u they can do everything a doctor can do 2 Likes |

Rayban25: There is no Christian organisation or church on planet earth without its fair share of wolves in sheep's clothing. I will continue to say it that the way people go about getting money or wealth without the fear of God and many of us applaud them at will or see them as role models, is a way to tell us that there is no end in sight for things like this. 1 Like |

writeprof: Did I say I dont know? Why is it RCCG that is ringing everywhere? Adeboye hasn't taken strict measures to ensure the sanctity of his church. Now it is coming to light and any body can just minister on the pulpit and any political crook can do whatever. If people like idahosa were alive you wouldn't see this in his church and trying to be making statements in order not to offend people and instead speak out against nonsense going on his church. 1 Like |

Rayban25: RCCG is ringing everywhere because it's the most popular church in Nigeria today. Your argument and position is baseless and clearly biased induced. Maybe you should tell me what you have against RCCG or Pastor Adeboye. You definitely have an axe to grind. Are you a member of the church? If no. How did you know he doesn't talk to his children who misbehave? |

NMA failed the community. How can somebody set up and operate a hospital for 18 years without being a medical doctor. To think that Kekere is a Redeemed Pastor is the most embarrassing. Adeboye should increase the filtration process and requirements for being a Pastor in Redeemed, a lot of criminals who should be answering alter calls every Sunday find themselves as pastors in Redeemed. 1 Like |
