I watched well last season. Although he scored some goals you hardly see him going for a 50-50 ground duels. You can't do that against Africa teams with high energy and pace!
charlesemeka85:
he balled well for Empoli last season and was a regular in their starting 11

He is still good but at the moment Aina and Osayi pass am

The likes of Cafu and Maldini lack the kind of tactical education defenders get today. Haba.

I am talking that defending today is more tactical, you are talking Baresi, Maldini.

The understanding of spatial play today can't be compared to the past.

Graeme Le Saux said he learned more in an interview with Tody Alderweireld than he did in his whole career. That will tell you the gulf in class in knowledge.

Then you say Baresi, Maldini. Na wa.

It's blasphemy. He once argued with me like this on Zidane and De Bruyne.

If you do your research, you will notice that most of these people commenting are from the indomie and gen Z era. Most of them watched our superstars on YouTube that’s why, they can compare the likes of KDB to zidane

It will take Brazil almost a century to hv another R9. A player many regards as the best number 9 ever

He had it all, over complete Dey worry am
Halaand is scoring goals woto woto but if you mention his name close to that of El phenomeno, people wey know R9 go just hiss.
Halaand lacks star dust quality. No halo will be put on his head.

I watched every match of Nigeria 99 and France 98. I bet I know Zidane and co. better than most of you arguing.

The problem is most of you find comprehending points difficult. I have to repeat it for days and you will still talk off point.

I said, De Bruyne is more effective. If you want grace and tricks. Call Zidane. If you want radiant and beautiful football, call Zidane. If you want effectiveness and tactical intuitive play, De Bruyne trumps Zidane.

You people saying Zidane is better is strictly due to grace and style.

There is more to the game today than grace and style.

Even Maradona himself did not score that solo dribble exceptional goal against England on a regular basis. It was a one time goal that encapsulates his genius.
I was told Ronaldo would score 4 of such in a game grin grin

Goes to underline the fact that modern football is low quality. Denis Bergkamp for all his exceptional qualities did not get the distinction of being named as best in the world. Why? Too many quality players then.

Brute or Brains the aim was to stop strikers. Same end product, different means.

Let your current best defenders come and hold a candle to people like Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Cafu, Baresi etc

And our own Taribo. Thierry Henry said he absolutely hated playing against Taribo.

I honestly chose to not add him.

I wonder how it's rational for him to think R9 for example would find it hard make runs now.

If players of his quality were in proliferation now shey coaches for de find how to pass till thy kingdom come just to open spaces.

Graeme Le Saux from Jersey a English channel island.I followed him passionately as Chelsea fan,a good left back in his days.

Well,am opportune to watch old,new and vastly new generation of footballers.Yes there are massive improvements in what we are having today which is expected but I will not use that to downgrade the past footballers.

Sir,I want this discussion to start from Nigeria using eagles as our reference point from 1980 till date and compares the set of eagles.

My all time eagles till date that will make today’s eagles line up.
