Covered drainage is the standard practice. It shouldn't even be subject to discuss. But then there are also some elements of truth in the fact that we need further reorientation for our people. Go to some parts of Uyo, you can literally seat inside their open drains to eat. Even my home town, i always admire how clean the open drains are because of regular cleaning by the age grades. So free flowing drain is not about if it is open or covered. If we must cover our drains, which is the ideal, efforts must be made to cover all other adjoining drains, else OYO is your case. A clear case is Ziks avenue Awka. The drains were covered by RCC. But it is giving serious challenges. Before this years rains, ANSG embarked on desilting along that route. But just one rain, come and see wahala. Currently around Eke Awka, water flows almost on road surface cos the drains are full. And unfortunately the people who have shops along the road cannot do anything as it is difficult to move the coverings. Meanwhile traders along Arthur Eze desilt there's almost every sanitation day. So while we admire and hope for the standard drainage under side walks, such factors should be taken into consideration. Maybe installation of iron grills before any closed drains and also along any open drains, so those that trash their bin in the drains can be easily identified. We need uncommon solutions for our problems. 1 Like |

Those who support desilted covered drains are best and exposed.. trust me we have to accept development Those who don’t accept open gutters … my question is still unanswered… and I repeat since Anambra has 98 percent open drains … how has that stopped erosion? Why is erosion still at it peak? Why is there still so much refuses dumps in the gutters? All the time ANSG says gutters are clogged Is obvious their theory is not helping them… And still they are championing what is not working… it is obvious mentality is very poor. Anyone who supports open gutters ask them these questions… one of them said in reply boldly he cannot answer it . 1 Like |

Armon: Many problematic things in Anambra cities is poor planning or management. SAND Gutters will always be silted up if connecting roads are made up of dirt. In Cotonou what they do is that they tar the entrances of all connecting roads up to 3 meters to reduce sand buildup on the main road. PLASTIC The greatest generators of trash dumped in gutters are informal traders. How is it that you go inside somewhere like Main Market or Eke Awka and you don't see rubbish everywhere but then you step out to the perimeter and entrance and rubbish all over the place? Lawlessness breeds lawlessness. All those illegal hawkers dump waste on the ground and in the gutters and get away with it by pleading poverty. But poor villages are not full of filth. ANSG needs to use a hard hand on hawkers. How is it that the cities were a lot cleaner under the Obi administration but filthy ever since? Restaurants dump their oily waste into the gutter and get away with it. 2 Likes |

abuzz33: No matter how they try… they can’t stop people from dumping refuse. Secondly… ANSG need to change the way thy are building roads … trust me is poor… let’s leave open gutters aside… what about light poles? What about wide dual roads? … they reply is no money… but check other states we are better than .. then you will know they are corrupt. No huge roundabouts!! Thin roads every where… Nnobi road cut into half because of erosion. The people supporting these mentality are seeing is not helping yet they are on it… that tells a lot about being exposed 4 Likes |

Bestmanfornow: Honestly those pictures are nice and simple… I love it.. Secondly to be honest … let me ask obvious questions because we have to be accountable… guys remember the amount Soludo budgeted for this 2.4 billion, assuming this the half part of the fun city… as shown in the picture being the structures to be constructed so that this only is already 1.2 billion? Well lip sealed … I only sense outrageous inflation of the budget.. I stand to be corrected. 2 Likes |

Fantastic news!!! CHINUA ACHEBE INTERNATIONAL Airport, Umueri ! Thank you Soludo for honoring this legend of our time, one of the greatest and undisputably the best known Igboman globally. Nelsolala: Covered drains are indeed the standard and desirable drainage system for modern cities. However, it does take some skill, technology, and infrastructure to operate them and keep them functional. I'm afraid that we don't quite have the infrastructure or technology to ensure they remain functional all over the state. If you watch the recent New York City flood of about 2 days ago, you will realize that if they did not have the capacity to go underground and continuously keep their drains open, it would have been a total disaster. However, the city officials came out in full force to ensure immediate removal of debris from the underground drainage channels which reduced the duration of the flood and damage caused by the flood. The most important technology of underground drainage is being able to continuously send equipment into the drains to keep them open. In Nigeria where our LGAs cannot even clear open drains on the surface, I truly fear that our LGA staff can maintain underground drainage systems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpJzOuYSpKo&t=284s 2 Likes |

If we accept open gutters what has the government done about excess waste or optimum waste management to avoid erosion? Still ANSG is taking us for a ride!!! ANSG can’t build a good road with amenities like wide dualized roads with light poles, road markings, traffic lights etc they can’t manage waste, nor ersosion… and you are supporting them… What proactive steps have they taken? Your Soludo built a road in amansea without a light pole awka for that matter.. the ekwulobia bridge; one lane..thats the only super road project for awka. Armon: Dude, I have used the airport to Abuja There’s nothing like covered gutters in or out of the airport I can agree with you on sidewalks along the major road that leads to the airport but not inside the airport Then again, I love both Soludo and Obiano. I love peter Obi the most but what I don’t like is to talk thrash one and be prompting the other AMC is a private own, same as Dubai and rotek, Obiano didn’t add a dime to all those projects Obi, Obiano, Ngige and now Soludo are doing/have done well for ndi Anambra, just accept that Obiano took up major projects and let our roads to rot, he has his own negativity same with Obi and Ngige Let’s leave the sleeping dog lye🌚 4 Likes |

Jcoleworld911: Nwannem.. I love my State I want to brag about it… The part of the video I asked you to see atleast you saw it was covered. I know of course AMC and the rest of the estates are privates companies but Obiano brought those investors and they invested as well as the farms … now we brag of AMC as the best estate in south east.. for Obiano to bring them and we are still bragging about it in soludo’s admin tells the Soludo is still sleeping… how many huge investors has he brought? They were yabbing Obiano then is only MOU he was signing but all of them is up and running …nwanne 2years is gone.. Brother you don’t love Soludo like I do… but his pace of work is disappointing. Go and check his new roads he constructed is a disgrace how will that rubbish last in awka for that matter? We have had good governors in the past by now Soludo should know that the bar is raised after obiano’s good works. Honestly we are lagging behind. 4 Likes |

Soludo is really trying his best to bring decency to Anambra. I know some people cannot see through his plans yet because most of his projects are still ongoing. But by the time all the roads he is working on, dualizing and expanding in Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi and Ekwulobia are completed, Anambra will wear a powerful decent look. My prayer is that Soludo should stay the course and supervise the contractors closely to ensure they deliver high-quality standard projects. Then he would have carved his name in the gold with his achievements. I don't want to praise him yet and will keep my fingers crossed until I see the outcome of all his efforts. Perhaps by his 2nd anniversary in office, he should be able to report concrete and tangible achievements. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9uLXlb-2k8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60uSGXMAYqE&t=1549s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfbRYsputtw&t=213s 4 Likes |
