Sirchibuzo: The ICC should be run by ANSIPPA and their budget tied to the revenue generated from it. They should also move their offices there. The ICC needs to do better for events. They need to engage an event management consultant and target 30-50 events a year and develop a lawn next to it for weddings, society bashes, conferences. 6 Likes |

Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, CEO United Nigeria Airline congratulates Dr. Allen Onyema, CEO Airpeace Airline who was conferred with a Doctor of Management Science by the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, at the institution's 33rd Convocation Ceremony on the 28th of September, 2023. As a state, we have attained a certain level in airline transport; of course aeroeconomy is the next big thing. At this level, I think it is higher time we start planning and working towards attracting a world standard aeroplane service hanger. Yes we can do it if we call it a need. With the collaboration of ANSG, Airpeace, UN airline,... we can target a renown company like Airbus to set up a hanger in AIPC- Chinua Achebe Airport, Umueri with a lot of aero-commercial activity like sales of aeroplane frequently replaced spare parts like wheels (I guess) 3 Likes |

Chikeluba25: When our prominent people collect and celebrate these useless certificates from irrelevant Nigerian institutions I just wonder if they are truly awake to what is happening around them. Let's face it, these people should seriously be seeking partnerships with some African countries where they would fly and could be a flag carrier for them. In fact, they could float alternative airlines registered in those African countries, and then utilize their international airports as hubs for traveling into key European and North American international routes via that country's capital city. Leaving all their operations within Nigeria and banking on being allowed to grow in Nigeria is a strategic error that they would regret in the future. Many West and Central African countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Guinea Conakry are a few that would gladly partner to have a flag carrier. Even Dangote with all his connections within Nigeria's Federal Government understood that he had to build cement factories in other African countries as a strategic growth initiative and not solely depend on its Nigerian operation as its only strategy. I personally don't believe that Boeing or Airbus will set up in a Sub-Saharan African country (Except South Africa). Talk more about leaving the national airports of those countries and setting up in their regional airports. Foreign investors are not that stupid to invest billions of dollars in immovable assets in a country like Nigeria with a very weak Judiciary and other infrastructure such as electricity etc. Only hangers built by a Nigerian airline in any airport of their choice can happen in Nigeria. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Abufo: THANK YOU MY BROTHER FOR THIS COMMENT. UNFORTUNATELY, I DOUBT IF SOME CHARACTERS ON THIS THREAD ARE ACTUALLY FROM ANAMBRA, ESPECIALLY CHIMAADEOYE. I DONT KNOW A REASONABLE NWA-ANAMBRA THAT WILL PROUDLY DISPLAY A YORUBA NAME ON AN ANAMBRA THREAD. THAT ALONE RAISES A LOT OF RED FLAG. I SUSPECT HIM TO BE ABAGWORO BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW IT IS RIVERS STATE PEOPLE THAT ANSWER NAMES LIKE ROTIMI AMAECHI, PRODUCT OF ADEKUNLE RAPE DURING BIAFRA WAR. NEVER TRY TO GET ANY SENSE OUT OF THOSE IKWERE PEOPLE. ANYWAY, BACK TO TOPIC, PEOPLE LIKE HIM ARE BUSY PUSHING AGENDA TO DEVELOP ANAMBRA SUB-STANDARD, BELOW LAGOS AND ABUJA. THAT IS NOT Y MANY OF US ARE HERE, WE ARE HERE TO SEE ALAIGBO RISE TO A WORLD CLASS LEVEL AND BE A BEACON FOR BLACK AFRICA. ALAIGBO SHOULD SET THE STANDARD AND LEAD, THIS IS WHAT DAVE UMAHI HAVE SHOWN WITH HIS PROJECTS WHICH IS WHY, I APPRECIATE HIM SO MUCH AS A GOV. 2 Likes |

ChimaAdeoye: I HAVE SAID, I WILL NOT REPLY YOU ON THIS THREAD BUT I DECIDED TO EXPOSE YOU FOR THE FRAUD THAT YOU TRUILY REPRESENT HERE. I HAVE POSTED THE DESIGN FOR EBONYI AIRPORT AND THE FINISHED PROJECT, THEY HAVE REMAINED CONSISTENT WITH WHAT DAVE UMAHI CLAIMED TO BE HIS AIM AND ACCOMPLICHMENT. NOW, IN 2019 I RAISED ISSUES ABOUT ANAMBRA STATE GOV CLAIMING TO BUILD AN AVIATION CITY BUT NOT FULFILING THAT PROMISE. THAT WAS ALL, AND IF THAT IS A CRIME, THEN IT TELLS ME PERHAPS YOU ARE AN ILLITERATE. IN THIS DAY AND AGE OF SIOCIAL MEDIA, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO BE SPECIFIC AND FOLLOW SPECIFICATION, BECAUSE GOOGLE WILL PROVIDE ALL RECORDS. WHY SHOULD ANAMBRA PROMISE TO BUILD A WORLD CLASS AIRPORT CITY AND THEN DELIVER AN AIRPORT THAT WOULD BE SATISFACTORY TO HATERS LIKE YOURSELF WHO WANT TO SEE SUBSTANDARD STRUCTURES LITTERED ACROSS ANAMBRA? IS THAT NOT TELLING LIES? WHAT DOES YOUR CHURCH SAY ABOUT TELLING LIES, ESPECIALLY ONE TOLD PUBLICLY WITH VERIFIABLE TRACES AND RECORD. THIS IS THE LAST, I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THIS AGAIN. Bestmanfornow:Long overdue. Anambra has all it takes to rival Lagos, in human, natural and business capacities, but the state must be made to attract not just businesses, but all and sundry, by consciously making it attractive infrastructuraly. Anambra has roads, but single lanes are no longer tenable in the face of the developmental strides going on in the state. I urge those that will be affected by this to bear it in good fate and understand that a working and livable Anambra is a win-win for all of us Ndigbo, at least we have something to brag about. I must also commend Gov. Soludo for his Iron balls with regards to making hard policies like demolishing properties to make way for dual carriage roads with Seren environment in the state. I'M PROUD OF THE AIRPORT ANAMBRA HAVE BUILT AND WILL ENCOURAGE THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT THE INTERIOR IS RAISED TO WORLD STANDARD BY GRADUAL BEAUTIFICATION ANNUALLY. I WILL ALSO ENCOURAGE THEM TO BUILD THE REPAIR/ MAINTENANCE HANGER THEY ENVISAGED WITH AIR PEACE AND ALSO AVIATION FUELING DEPOT AS ANNOUNCED. I LOVE ANAMBRA AND WANT TO SEE IT LOOK WORLD CLASS. I'M NOT HERE TO SING PRAISES, ANAMBRA STATE DONT PAY ME AS AN EMPLOYEE. I'M HERE AS AN INDIGENE OF ANAMBRA TO DEMAND, DIVIDEND OF DEMOCRACY, AS WELL AS CONTRIBUTE AS AN ACTIVE CITIZEN. A SECERT THAT IGBO PEOPLE HAVE NOT YET LEARNT IS, IF YOU BUILD SOMETHING PROPERLY THE FIRST TIME, IT SAVES YOU ALOT OF MONEY AND TIME, HAVING TO BUILD IT AGAIN SO SOON. THIS IS WHAT I'M TRYING TO TELL THEM. IT IS NOT A RACE, LET US FOCUS AND DO IT PROPERLY, SO WE DONT HAVE TO COME BACK HERE AGAIN, WE HAVE SO MUCH TO BUILD. 6 Likes |

ChimaAdeoye:Like I said earlier, if we call it a need we can achieve it. In 2009 when the CEO of Innoson motors shared his plan of setting up Automobile manufacturing plant in Nigeria, Anambra to be precise; they discouraged him. Saying that it is impossible. Some even told him That Nigeria and Africa except South Africa is not due for such heavy industry.... Today Innoson (Nigeria first indigenous automobile manufacturing company) is a household name. Today Anambra is Nigeria indigenous Automobile manufacturing capital hosting Innoson, OMAA,... Anambra have the manpower/ capacity to host Aeroplane maintenance hanger if only we call it a need. 5 Likes |

Chikeluba25: We are saying the same thing and I totally agree that if Air Peace or other airlines are determined to do it, then it will materialize. In fact Anambra airport would be the best choice for it because it has the second longest runway in Nigeria and not as choked up as Lagos airport that has no space for aircraft being fixed to be parked for many weeks or months. Only a Nigerian airline can build a hanger in any airport of its choice. I just didn’t want us to keep hoping or hyping Boeing or Airbus would do it. The probability of that happening is almost zero. Not to mention that even Nigeria’s Federal Government would immediately block them and propose the MRO be built in Lagos or Abuja airports. By the way, it does not mean that an Air Peace MRO would be constructed by Air Peace staff. Air Peace would volunteer to fund the project for the aircraft manufacturer to bring in their own maintenance equipment to maintain their aircraft in that place. It does not mean it would maintain only Air Peace planes. All the airlines using that make of aircraft in West Africa would also benefit if an MRO is built in West Africa 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Anambra to Build Entertainment Hub at Its Airport The management of Anambra State International Cargo Airport, Umueri has disclosed that the state government plans to build entertainment hub at the airport premises to drive non-aeronautical revenue. The Managing Director and CEO of the airport, Martins Nwafor made this known to THISDAY in an interview and said that the state government would develop a very large area at the entry of the airport for the entertainment hub. Nwafor said that the facility would attract businesses and a lot of people who would enjoy the offerings at the hub without getting into the restricted area of the airport. He said that this is how many airports in the world develop non-aeronautical revenue sources by building different businesses that will attract people who will money and pay for charges like car park, facility entry tickets and others. “We are planning to develop a very large area. If you’re used to the airport, once you drive past the gate, you will drive to almost another 500 to 600 meters before you get to the car park of the airports. There is a very large expanse of land there. It is marked for an entertainment hub. In the entertainment hub, there are a whole lot that will take place there. The hub is intended to attract a whole lot of people into the airport without necessarily getting to the proper landing area of the airport. They can have their recreation, enjoy themselves, listen to music and drink while enjoying the theme of the hub. We can also have a small theatre for film and stage performance going on there. We are also looking out for investors to help us in developing that more. We’re consulting to get that done. We have the eatery already given out for construction. That is also facing the entertainment hub,” the Managing Director said. Nwafor said that contrary to general believe that state owned airports are not profitable, the plan laid out by the Anambra state government and the management of the airport, the Umueri airport will generate revenue that will sustain its operation, adding that the airport which has only operated for one year and seven months would not only fund its operations but would generate profit to the state government to justify the investment. “At the Anambra international passenger and cargo airport, we are not in any way a waste to the state, to Nigeria and the general aviation system globally. Some may actually not be profitable because of the way they were conceived, but I can assure you that Anambra International Cargo & Passenger Airport was well conceived and initially was a project between the Anambra state government and orient petroleum resources. However, the construction of the airport was eventually carried out by Anambra state government alone and before that was done, there was a business plan outside the fact that there was a crude oil discovery by orient petroleum resources in the Anambra area where the airport was sited. It was precisely sited at Umueri in the Anambra east local government. Just like I said, we had a business plan and that plan is working out right now. We’re just a year and seven months old and as we go on, I am going to show you what we have done. And of-course, you’ll understand that profitability of an airport is not something you can talk about in one moment, it takes a while for you to talk about the profitability. For the viability, yes. I would not say we are not viable because there are indications to show that we are viable. In the first place, the Anambra people do a lot of travels. It is predominantly business people. Our airport is located at the point where the farthest distance in Anambra state to the airport is about 30-35 minutes. We are closer to Onitsha, the business hub of not just South-eastern Nigeria, but Nigeria as well. Nnewi is about 30-31 km away and Awka city of the capital of Anambra state. The Managing Director said that at the moment, there are two major scheduled airlines that operate into Anambra state and that is the largest airline in Nigeria today, Air-Peace and United Nigeria Airlines. These airlines operate six days in a week, adding that Air-Peace has daily operation, one inbound from Lagos and one outbound to Lagos and an inbound from Abuja and one outbound to Abuja. While United Nigeria airlines which initially started like Air-Peace, but maybe due to shortage of equipment presently does four days in a week same way, inbound Lagos, outbound Lagos, inbound Abuja and outbound Abuja. “So, the Air-Peace uses the E2 Embraer 195 and sometimes the Boeing 737-500/300 series while United Nigeria operates with Embraer 145. But don’t forget that when we started the operation into this airport on the 7th of December 2021, we had some restrictions and at that time, they were both operating Embraer 145 until sometime in march, 2022 when we obtained approval for Boeing 737 equivalent due to the improvements made in fire service, we brought in the three brand new Zeigler fire trucks from Germany. Then, of-course,employed additional Category 9 (CAT-9) fire service personnel. Based on that we began to operate Boeing 737 and its equivalent. According to the Managing Director, the passenger traffic at the airport is still less that its full potential because the airport still operates Visual Flight Rule (VFR), which means that flights cannot land at the airport in the night. 1 Like |

Rocksvibes234: VERY GOOD IDEA, ANYTHING TO COMPLETE THE INTERIOR DESIGN OF THAT SMALL AIRPORT SO OWE CAN MOVE FORWARD TO OTHER THINGS. THERE ARE THINGS THAT SHOULD HAVE DEADLINE FOR COMPLETETION, EVEN IF THE DEADLINE IS 3 YEARS OR 4 YEARS. THE BRIDGE TO FLIGHTS NEED DEADLINE. THE SOONER WE COMPLETE ALL THIS, THE SOONEST WE CAN START LOOKING AT AVIATION FUEL DEPOT AND MAINTENANCE HANGER. ALSO, JUST LIKE BRAZILIAN PLANES ARE NOW CREDIBLE AND SAFE, CHINA COMAC C919, HAVE STARTED RECIEVING ORDERS. I EXEPCT ANAMBRA BUSINESS COMMUNITY ESPECIALLY AIRPEACE OR UNITED AIRLINE TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THEM, SO WE CAN AT LEAST HAVE ANOTHER MAINTENENCE HANGER THEIR IN UMUERI. THIS IS HOW U GRADUALLY GROW YOUR AVIATION SECTOR CREATING EMPLOYMENT. SOON YOU WLL BE RUNNING FLIGHT SIMULATION FOR TRAINEE PiLOTS AND AVIATION TRAINING SCHOOL WITH SMALLER PLANES. 4 Likes |
