Stay back here. It's better than where they'll use tax to finish your income and leave you in the cold hands of loneliness and depression with no social life.

Remember housing there is monthly and to meet up and still have small change to roll by you'll have to double or triple your hustle in that extreme weather condition leaving you exhausted and sick.
it's obvious you don't pay tax to the state government here in Nigeria and yet you want development.

Honestly, when I consider everything, that's what I'm leaning towards. My visa is multiple entry, good for 10 years

I see that you keep hammering on the bolded. You only have a 10 year multiple VISITOR's visa. Canada recently announced you could get an LMIA job permit with it. This will end in 2025.

LMIA is not easy to get and they are mostly lowly paid job. Tech won't be part of LMIA as you such resource can easily be got from Canadians and PR holder.

You cant be using visitors visa like you are a PR holder. You can be leaving Canada every six months and reenter again. The immigration won't let you in again at some points.

Think carefully on your next move so as not to ruin everything.

Stay in Nigeria.
Nigeria is far better than Canada. No police harassment, no security issues, beautiful environment, Sane-educated and modern society, steady light, stronger currency value, good job security, free and advanced healthcare, better future for your unborn children, free quality eduction for your unborn children.

Coupled with other advantages, if I were you, I'll prefer Nigeria with 500k salary than Canada..... coz am very sure that same tech company will not lay me off years to come and my salary will keep on increasing yearly with inflation....

au revoir passez une bonne journée
Baba don't follow this advice. use your tongue to count your teeth. N500K is just $500 for a whole month. something your can earn in less than 3 days there in Canada doing menial jobs. I currently earn far above that amount here in Nigeria. i trust me i have been leaving from hand to mouth. N1M is not enough to take care of a family with 3 kids in this present Nigeria. and trust me it will only get worse. Am Japa to Canada anytime soon.

U will make *4 of that while in Canada.
So bro use ur head.
Travel abroad double ur hustle
Make some cool millions then come back home and invest

What's 500k? Think about the value of your life here. The nepotism, the celebrity of mediocrity, the toxicity of work place that can be a springboard for mental health issues

Didn't think I'd actually land the job at all! 500K a month plus housing, car, health and life insurance benefits.
Why is life always like this??!! In serious dilemma what to do

Wow! You could close your eyes and still make a good choice here. If you are like me who value my health it's N500k monthly job o, yes right now I would go if I get Canada chance but that's because I didn't have a N500k salary job. I learnt cold can kill in Canada so why taking that risk if I'm already well set up here?

My one Kobo advice is very simple... Postpone ur trip to Canada by 6months .... During that six months u can work with this company here in Nigeria. Learn from them n evaluate if it's worth staying back for... 500k plus housing car and health is very nice ooo. Things are not as green on the other side. If after six months u feel Canada is better then u can relocate since ur visa is ten years ... For the main time what part of tech did u study

If it's a visitor Visa, please! Take the Job. You can't work with a Visitor Visa in Canada.

You can if you get a job from an LMIA- licensed company. But like I said, they are only available for jobs that companies struggle to fill with Canadians - mostly lowly paid jobs. The scheme will end by 2025

500k is actually a small amount if you are a programmer in Nigerian with to 3 years experience . If it's a remote job take the job, relocate to Canada and be working for them remotely while looking for a better job in Canada. If you get a tech job in Canada, you can easily earn 2000 to 3000USD after tax monthly.

You need to look at the bigger picture and make this Canada move for the sake of your future and the future of your children. You can even relocate from Canada to US few years later.

In all you do, don't allow the fear of the unknown be the reason behind your decision. Good luck

Let me give you an advice

Stay back in Nigeria for 6 months to 1 year. This period will help you accumulate relevant job experience with your present employer. Use the opportunity to look for a related job in Canada which you can apply for.

Make sure you get a job offer first before relocating properly so it'll be easier for you to settle down. No use visit Visa get hope.

Prepare yourself well before relocating.
Re: My Dilemma: Canada Or 500K Tech Job by chaiks: 2:40pm On Oct 15, 2023
Go to Canada. That is the best option. You have a tech skill which is highly needed in Canada already. 500k is nothing and the stability of that job in Nigeria is not guaranteed. In Canada, even if you don't have a job already, you will do certification and land a good tech job while doing some menial jobs to sustain yourself for a start(assuming you don't have job already in Canada). Most importantly, as years goes by, you get PR and eventual citizenship. What is more than that?

What do you use your money for?

Your question is irrelevant . In this Nigeria you don't ask a family man what he uses his money for
Ask kids those question . However if you want to know why I have not travelled yet ...then I can simply tell you that it was a big mistake on my part cos I was one of those that believe Nigeria will get better ...I don't want this op to make such mistake I made . I built house with my money...I now realised that I.voukd ve gone and still buy house when things starts getting better for me over there .

The OP is an Agbadorian who has been at the forefront of dissuading Nigerians from japa. It is a sarcastic post to make it sound stupid to relocate. No one earning 500K in Nigeria would opt for a visit visa.

How is it not possible?

-Postpone the relocation.
-Work the job for 2 months & show super skills.
-Tender your resignation or let HR know you'll be relocating verbally.
-Since its a tech role they will be the ones to suggest you remain with them in some capacity if you are good.

OP this is the best advice for you. Even when they allow you to go, they can still permit you to work remotely (From Canada) since you are good. Except you don't trust yourself, you can decide otherwise.

I have a proper Canadian visa, a friend I can stay with, and some tech connections. That's it

Having money is everything. Having a visa is absolutely nothing. It's only in Nigerians head that visa equates to gold.

Having said that, anywhere you can get money and even more money is where you should go. Also have it in mind that travelling out doesn't mean you will make the money.

The call is just yours to take. But yes, go anywhere your money is. Even if it's Nnewi or Accra!

It’s easy!!

Since your visa is multiple try skid for 10years, it means you can travel anytime right?

Take this 500k job and work, you can take a leave from work once a year and visit Canada for holidays, use that period in Canada to look for jobs in-between. Once you get a job over there, the rest is history

If you already have money to sustain yourself in Canada travel if not stay put and work because sapa will finish you up in Canada. Assumption reads to depression in abroad because you will be disappointed by the people you think will help you. You dont pick money on trees abroad. Be wise
