if u have business or work or anything u are doing that can be getting you 1.5M and above in Nigeria. You don’t have any reason to travel out. 95% of people outside won’t be able to safe more than that in UK, Canada or US. You may definetly not even like the job u will be doing to even be saving such amount. it will be a job you can’t even do when u are in Nigeria

This is what my head and common sense tell me, but my heart says Canada, Canada, Canada, now or never

My candid advice to you as someone living in the US is this…I have watched Nigeria closely for the past 30 years or more and my observation is that things keep getting worse by day. Any problem you see today in Nigeria I assure you will never get solved but will only get worse . I remember how as kids graduate unemployment problem started small small under Shagari , today jobs are almost non existent, problem of NEPA started with taking light for a few minutes from the mid 80s to today no light at all, cultism in universities started with break bottles on head in early 90s to full blown killings in campuses, water corporations had taps running back then until the problems started manifesting in the early 90s today , states water corporation is dead with every now digging boreholes without minding the environmental damage in future, kidnapping for ransom started around 2005 with Niger delta groups kidnapping oil workers for money, today it has spread to every where in the country including all the major highways and villages, problem of Nigeria’s refineries started around mid 90s , ordinary to repair refineries every country does have had Nigeria spend hundreds of billions of dollars with no single result that Nigeria is now importing petroleum finished products 100% now etc . In essence for the past 30 years any problem you see today will never get solved but will get worse and out of hand as the years go. Many Nigerians seem to live in the same fools paradise that Nigeria will get better lol. Nigeria seems like a nation that’s cursed to get worse everyday why? I followed the campaigns of late Abiola and recently Obi and those men unlike other leaders I have seen before had a grasp of the real problems of Nigeria but were rigged out. My advice to you go for Canada. You get your PR after a few years and citizen after 3 years. It offers you endless opportunities. You can still find an IT job that allows you work remotely that way you can travel to Nigeria or anywhere in the world and work from there assuming you no longer like Canada…most importantly secure your future. Nigeria doesn’t offer you anything including job security and no labor laws . The way the economy is now heading to $2,000 a dollar that 500k will now become less than 250k …there is no future today in Nigeria and if you miss this opportunity it will become harder for you to leave because the country is getting worse by day..Good luck 🍀

Go to Canada if you have a legal pathway to permanent residence.

Nigeria today is for people who are already established in corrupt politics, older retired people, poor people who have no legal pathway to japa, and the likes

Even people earning N1 million plus monthly and others are saving up to move their families abroad

Only people who are already there don't see it that way. Maybe because they owe money, or they earn and spend in $

If I hear say you miss this opportunity for mere less than 500usd that will move to less than ,400 USD before long.

Canada is the easy pick here

How much is 500k? $500?
The question is,
What do you want to achieve in 5yrs time,?
Are you single?
What type of visa do you have?

If it's a visitors Visa take option 1
If it's a PR visa take option 2

Option 1 Truth is, the house, could be raided by EFCC, the car would almost go bad as a result of bad roads, plus part of the cars could be stolen, the health benefits is abysmal because HMO are out to make profit.

Option 2However, Canada is currently going through a criss period, you have constant power supply, good road, standard health care same with one the PM is receiving unlike Nigeria where your have your president going for abroad for mere headache, serene environment plus you have laid a very fantastic foundation for your generation unborn. It's also worthy to note that there's racism in Canada.

The ball is in your court, you decide

Racism and cold weather - and I loathe cold weather. Still, my heart is in Canada despite those already there being discouraging

Let me tell you this little story . We were two friends ...We decided to buy land on same location ...I started building my own house while he built bq and fenced his own. One day this guy called me to infirm me that he wants to sell that land and move to Canada. I was angry with him but he remained adamant . Yes I completed my house but thus guy has bought 3 houses ever since he left . He has taken his wife and kids to Canada...infact today I can't even stand where he is. standing . This is personal experience..pls don't make my mistake

Before you make a choice... Just think about it that 1000 CAD is more than 500k...

So if you're half as good as the job you landed suggests, think about making 4k CAD monthly in a sane environment where everything works just fine.
No allow your village people use you.
This is a chance to secure the future of your unborn kids.
Nothing dey 9ja...even if u dey earn 1m per month, who deh earn 4k for canada, usa or even UK na bros for where you deh...

From what you said, it’s a visiting visa you have to Canada on a 10 years passport

Why don’t you visit and see the canada and go back to Nigeria to continue your job

You don't understand. I already have my tickets and ideas and dreams in my head. I want to japa now, but common sense and people already over there advise otherwise

Was there really 24 hours electricity in Nigeria in the 80s?

Good advice from someone in abroad for years, Nigeria like quick money. If the reason of coming is just about money, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re coming to better your life and your kids you’re welcome. There is no shortcut, all those bullshit advice you’re getting will not help you. I don’t know much about Canada, but in US, if you’re ready to go to school & work hard, you can be anything even more than you can ever imagine.

Thank you very much. Do you think I should leave now with these tickets or work till I get PR?

Stay back here. It's better than where they'll use tax to finish your income and leave you in the cold hands of loneliness and depression with no social life.

Remember housing there is monthly and to meet up and still have small change to roll by you'll have to double or triple your hustle in that their extreme weather condition leaving you exhausted and sick.

I'm surprised someone in Nigeria saying this. Only those already over there talk like this. From what I hear I know it's not as easy and straightforward as we think. Still, to be honest, my head is full of Canada

Yes it was because I remember in 1986 one day we were reading and then the lights went out, my mother said we should remain calm wherever we were that the light will come, after about thirty minutes they brought the light..It started getting worse in the nineties and by 1998 we have become used to sleeping without lights and a lot of people started importing more generators

Lol... Bro I see it this way, no matter what, if it's bad there, those that are there will come back to hustle here...
It's never easy especially going to start all over in a new place but bros... Life is a risk... Staying back here is a risk...
Even me I have that fear presently because I've gotten a visa to join my wife in UK..
I earn close to 500k in both my business and my job monthly but I think of how much I can earn with my work rate and the grace of God....
It's not easy but we have to try...
We are Nigerians.
People wen dey go there go survive and make am, no be 2 heads them get...
Believe in yourself and your ability and leave the rest to God.

Thank you for very good thoughtful advice. That was my thinking too, come to find out when I talk to people there it's not that easy. One thing I dread is going from eating at table as oga to being the server in a cold place
Yeah, I was careful not to mention this part. It always don't end up well between frnds in circumstances as this.

If you've got well established frnds/family out there, getting recommendations for employers can surfice in the case where there's no work permit (if you choose to rough it)

Nigeria is a lost cause!

I'd advise anyone to find their way out if they get the opportunity. 500k you see today can't give that perfect dream life considering what Canada has in stock.

Get a virtual Canada line. Arrange your resumé to match Canada format. Use your frnd's address. Apply to jobs and attend virtual interviews.

For me stay in Nigeria for atleast 6 months and save money. If possible 1 year. You can’t work with a visitor visa. don’t ruin ur visa. Save enough money since you already got 10 years visa no issue. Ur plan should be permanent resident route with work experience. If you’re old for marriage get married and start the pr process with ur wife. 500k is change. Naira is useless right now that’s just $500. You might not make a lot of money in Canada due to tax and inflation but atleast after a few years you will have ur citizenship which is the most important. With your citizenship u can relocate to any country of ur choice hassle free or come back to Nigeria if u wish. Ur target should be a second passport for urself and kids.

And by the way pls how easy was it getting ur visitor visa cos I plan on getting one for my my child birth. How long did it take? How much was in your acnt and the necessary documents ur submitted. Thanks
