gammarays:

Obi is not an angel but will do better.
Are you aware that more than 60% of the nations budget goes to running government and other useless expenses.

One has to start somewhere to repair damages.

This is what many people don't know and those who know still play politics with it.

I supported PO because I believe the critical stage Nigeria as a nation is, needs a prudent at spending not those who don't care or lack the will to close their pockets.

Also, Tinubu never laid down his clear policies of how he will govern if given the chance (though not I expect anything much from him) but people never see that as redflag.

PO on the other hands spoke alot about this issue of subsidy and most Tinubu supporters laughed at him.

PO talks about tackling corruption in subsidy by asking "How can Nigeria who is not as populated as Pakistan be consuming much more fuel than Pakistan?"

You see that's someone who knows where the problem lies.

The fraud on subsidy is what a reasonable leader should have addressed first and close all the loop holes before thinking of removing subsidy.

I'm of the opinion that even if any leader can block all the loop holes in subsidy, Nigerians will be surprised that the government will pay subsidy without stress unlike what they are making us to believe.

PO also talked about tackling oil theft in Niger Delta region which is seriously affecting of production per day.

What measure has Tinubu Government put in place to prevent that?

Has the man ever even say anything about oil theft?

I don't want to talk much, Atiku would have done better,
But if it was PO, he would have done better, his intentions for Nigerian is good but you see that Green &Red Chambers members, they would have so much frustrate PO in his early years of his governance.

Tinubu's failure started from his hasty vendetta mission against Emefiele who is the most experienced to help him on easy transition. He turned it to a tribal thing and now he has failed.

Yep, the subsidy was a Greek gift. The exchange rate problem did not start with Tinubu unless if you see it from the prisms of partisan politics. Unfortunately this is the lens through which most of you see from.

Actually, Atiku and Obi dodged a bullet.

Nigeria is a sinking ship, with the whole insecurity and toxic corruption culture, the economy is bound to collapse.

Ants and bees build, but cockroaches destroy.

Nigeria is a land filled with a lot of people harbouring cockroach mentality.

Unless there’s a change of mindset from top to bottom…Tinubu, Atiku and Obi combined can’t save the sinking ship. That’s the cold reality Nigerians are yet to wake up to.
I disagree, I know a couple who woulda cancel their japa plans if Obi had won, a captain told us that criminals in forest were waiting for glimmer of hope if Obi had won they will drop weapons, but that there more criminals now than before, Obi and his team would have been the first presidency answerable to the people, monitored by opposition, troubled by powers that be, thereby forcing him to take right decisions always, he would have been a listening and communicative leader, not the one that will tell you "if you like protest" what about international relations and national image, rule of law etc. Forget.

Nigeria's economy is now on a free fall. Everything is collapsing before our eyes. Dollar rate has crossed the 1000 mark and is steadily climbing towards 2000/$. Millions of businesses both big, medium and small are either closing down or struggling to survive. Fuel is now 620 per liter yet subsidy is being paid.

There is absolutely no hope in Nigeria that things will improve any time soon! In other words, there is hopelessness!!

plenty hope

.
This brings me to the question of what if.
What if Peter Obi or Atiku Abubarkar had become president instead of Tinubu, would Nigeria have turned out this way?

Yup

.
At what point will Tinubu admit he has failed?

never

.Or would he continue to use propaganda to buy time even when there is no hope ahead?
plenty hope

MrEverest:
Lol, you think Nigeria is any better than Venezuela? Venezuela was a socialist economy and that's why they had those issues.

I don't think Nigeria would have been in this terrible situation if Peter Obi or even Atiku is in power. Tinubu isn't a good administrator. Someone that ruled a huge economy like Lagos yet had very little or no legacy in place except corruption and cronyism. Even a goat will do better as Lagos governor. Even if Lagos has no governor, it will still be performing and generating huge revenue because Nigeria's Economy is more or less domiciled there.

Tinubu destroyed our economy when he removed subsidy on his first day and also floated the naira without having serious buffers.

describe currency removal buffer

. I don't think Obi or Atiku would have been that stupid.

Tinubu was battling legitimacy issues and thought he could use severe changes in the polity to cause distraction. Now, it has all backfired. His legitimacy or lack of it has remained in the front burner. He doesn't even seem to have any plans but continues to do trial and error with 200 million Nigerians.

what was atiku and obi plan?

Lmao you obviously know nothing about economics... Zero

Are we not paying subsidies now on petrol?
Soon we would be paying 600 subsidies to keep petrol at 620 ... Which is more than we paid before Tinubu comes it

we were paying for 30 million litres under obj
Now 70 million when Nigerians are poorer
What's the difference
Subsidy was just blank looting check

.
Like Peter Obi said It's foolishness to float a currency without having the mechanisms or liquidity to back it.. It's pure foolishness

what are these mechanisms

Just. 2

You guys know Tinubu has failed just console yourself with it would have been sams under Peter Obi

The reason some yorubas like myself rooted for obi was because of his prudency and shrewdness in management of public affairs and finance.
At this critical point when we need to shore up our dwindling finance, Obi would never have appointed 48ministers, he would never have budget have approved new cars for NASS members.
We went to it blindly but our eyes are wide open now. God will see us through is the only prayer I have for whoever doesn't play an active role in foisting this mistake on us .

Believe any politician at your own detriment

The believe that all igbos want to opt out of Nigeria was a false generalization and a fallacy,it's just like using professor Banji Akintoye and chief Sunday igboho stand on Yoruba nation actualization to generalize that all your want to opt out of Nigeria.
In every society where injustice persist, there is always agitations. If such agitation is not properly handled by a tact and compassionate leader in the mould of late Musa Yaradua ,it could escalate to civil unrest.
During the campaign processes,PO was the one only candidate who was more explicit and offered practical solutions to solve the issue.

I was one of PO's cheerleaders when he was governor because I liked his prudent, program based approach to governance. However, I didn't support his presidential bid because I don't believe that anyone no matter how competent will be able to dig us out of the hole we have found ourselves.

We need fundamental structural and even constitutional reforms to surmount the challenges we face. I hope to be proven wrong but this is just the beginning of our troubles. If and when a) Ukraine and Russia get tired of killing each other and b)Saudi Arabia is able to extract the security guarantees it needs from the USA, oil prices will crash, That is when our real crises will actually begin.

i agree with you that nigeria can not be dig out by anyone without fundamental change but while waiting for that to happen of it will happen, we need someone to help us stabilize the status quo from what buhari did with reckless spending not someone that will even spend more, not someone hasty in making decision and definitely not someone with much baggages. we need someone who is tight fisted and wont waste money, someone with fiscal prudency and that person s definitely not tinubu and here we are with that fact.

And the dashed hopes of Nigerians from Jonathan and Buhari presidency hasn’t shown you the systemic rot is far deeper than you think?

When you are truly voted by constituents your policies have your people at heart, obi would not have removed these subsidies or devalued the naira on a whimp. And Obi would definitely not increase the cost of government by creating multiple ministries, and ministers, Obi would not borrow money from IMF to share it to invincible households, Obi would not have been this tribalistic, having 10 igbo ministers and and 5 sw ministers, with most of the security aparatus in the country being igbo people.,. Not even atiku would have been this petty with tribalism.

The collapse of the naira is because of a loss of hope, everyone is bailing.

I am really devastated by how quickly everything is going south...I wish i sold everything at half the price in 2020 or never invested in nigeria in 2015...

Nope, just telling you it’s pointless heaping your hopes on politicians when the system is designed to fail from the very beginning.

Until the masses comes together to put the politicians under constant pressure to deliver, it’s gonna be stories of false hopes and disappointment over and over again.
