I don't know why you guys decide to use paracetamol on another person's headache. Someone told you is his personal belief to pay tithe and you are questioning him.
Religion is a personal belief just as tithing. You are in a society that allows adult and even children to make their own decision but No, you are still stuck with ur Naija mentality of ethnocentrism.

If you like go and be questioning your colleague at work about their gender identity, may be you will learn to respect people's opinion.

Which belief?how did he arrive at such erroneous belief in the first place?
So how will he ever get it right if we leave him to his belief howbeit erroneous.

If I belief that killing humans is a form of worshipping God,u should leave me since it's my belief?
You think his belief is not my concern?it is,because these people have been brainwashed to believe their money is a form of worshipping God ,that's why we have 200m unproductive youths in extreme poverty paying tithe to these fraudsters believing a miracle that never comes will come.

Then they will indoctrinate their innocent children and it continues.we need to wake up

Na tithe una dy argue here..... the 20-40% tax wy dy go to buying arms and ammunition for Ukraine and Israel una no argue am.

Your money is been used to house immigrant terrorists una no argue am.

9ja leaders dy waste our money anyhow. £1 is heading to #1500

If you pay tithe, great. If you don't believe in it don't pay... it doesn't stop your blessings..

Period.

Good afternoon everyone, quick question: I already had an Upwork account from Nigeria (NB: this account wasn’t active, I just created it and abandoned it) ,

if I were to change the account location and start using it to get freelance work now in the UK, would the hours count towards my 20-limit as a student? Would it be considered self-employment which is a breach of the student visa conditions?

Add: Also, is remote work that I’d been doing for a UK client from back home and I’ve continued to do now that I’m in the uk part of my 20 hours too 🤔

Yes freelancing is self employment and its a breach of your student visa rule

So I’m trying to open a traditional bank account (banks with physical locations that I can go to).

In the “Are you tax resident outside the UK” , what do I answer to? “Yes/no” ?

I’ve never made a tax payment in Nigeria before. I just get paid my salary and that’s all 🫠; I also asked my previous employer if he had any tax history I could maybe use since my salary apparently came with tax deductions, he said no (this one ehn 💀).

Anyways, any responses would be appreciated. Thank you. 🙏🏾

Does this include the remote work that started in Nigeria and is paid to my Fidelity dollar account too? (Client is UK-based).

I need to be clear if this covers freelancing that’s done within UK territory or prior freelancing with Nigerian residential details that serves clients from other countries.

Work done while in the UK and get paid through UK payment system.

Yes if your former employer is a Nigerian company. If foreign then you need to get a tax ID and report your earnings for self assessment.

Thewritingnerd:
Lmao Shey FIRS? Will they really take it up ? 🫠 Because it’s really ridiculous to think I had tax deductions on my salary yet they weren’t actually being paid 🥴.

Try to pay up even if it’s to take a loan. But I think some school will allow you write exams but you won’t be awarded certificate until you pay up.
Hmnn, I would have loved that. But are there ways international students can access a loan in the UK?

One limiting factor so far is my location, I stay at Rotherham S63 and most of these banks jobs are concentrated in the bigger cities... Need to find a solution to that...
Remote jobs exist. Besides, some jobs offer relocation packages, all you gots to do is ask. Follow who know road my brother.

Do you own a credit card? If yes then find a way to withdraw the balance £1k through PayPal and then pay back the CC company in instalments on a monthly basis albeit with interest similar or lesser than taking a loan. Stay committed and pay back the 1k in a few months at no risk to your credit score. This is the fastest method to resolving your issue.

I was in your shoes last year researching on the same topic. I have an Upwork account of 5 years old with over $20K total earnings and lots of clients. I abandoned it in 2020 and wanted to resume using it for side hustle when planning my UK journey last year. But all my findings indicated that doing so is against my student visa rule as freelancing/self-employment isn't allowed. And your UK-based client might want to do their findings to be sure they aren't breaking the law by maintaining a freelancer-client work relationship with you when you are already in the UK on a student visa. I might be wrong, though, but the last time I checked, my understanding was that it has to be an "employment" not a contract or freelance role.

The crop of pastors/men of god/reverends etc etc etc etc etc we have these days is totally nothing to write about. No occupation and yet live a lifestyle of frivolity, affluence and waste. For heaven's sake, a number of Christ's disciples were fishermen! Peter (the rock), Andrew, James and John were fishermen, Matthew was a tax collector, even Christ himself was a carpenter.

I rather hand my 10% to some stranger out there that clearly needs it than to some fraud!!!

Hmmm, when last did you try the method and what's the effect on your credit score?

Heard about it last year but was skeptical about it due to cc score effect

Currently on this with PayPal Credit, although I didn’t withdraw but I made a large purchase and zero impact to my credit score because I pay over the minimum balance every month. This is how credit card companies make their money. The guy should just make sure say he pays up every month and keep his utilisation of that card really low, like perhaps £5 monthly so that he can clear out his depts fast atleast within 3 - 5 months. He may not have to withdraw with PayPal, he can even call the school and give them his card details so that they can take the money.

NB: This is not financial advise but from personal experience.

Please how long does it take to hear from Canadian embassy when applying for a visit visa from the UK. The silence is deafening,no update in any form from them.

E dey tey... very long annoying process. If you've done biometrics, all u can do is wait.. I've seen 2-8months.

Good thing is the visa once approved is for the duration of your passport...

If your income is liable to tax only in the UK, the answer is no. If there are other jurisdictions where your income is liable to tax, then yes.

If someone tells you he earns high salaries and you find out he's a pilot for instance, what pointer do you expect him to give you to be able to secure such jobs?

Go on google, type "high paying jobs that are in demand" from the search results you will see skills you need to secure high paying jobs.

Get the skills, go back to google and search for those same jobs and apply.

My guy that is the pointer you need o.
Make sense. Also this country one has to face one industry or else you will just be gallivanting around.
