The Super Falcons win big in Abuja and advance into the third round of the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers.

Rasheedat Ajibade ⚽️⚽️
Asisat Oshoala ⚽️🅰️🅰️
Uchenna Kanu ⚽️🅰️
Tosin Demehin 🅰️

The super falcons will face Cameroon in the third round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers.

The Indomitable Lioness staged a comeback after suffering a 2-0 deficit in the first leg to secure a 3-2 win on aggregate over Uganda.

Will the Cameronians come for revenge??

Just annoying that:

They haven't increased the slots from 16 to 24 for more participation

Still 2 slots for CAF

CAF is one of the latest confederations to wrap up qualifications.

I hope FIFA increases the number of participating teams at the 2028 Olympics, as the Women’s World Cup has 32 teams

By now, they should leave 16 teams for cadet level. It's annoying.

For me Peace Efih was the best midfielder in both matches. She should have a slot in the team from now on.

If we stay healthy I am confident we will get the job done.

Definitely. But it’s a shame that FIFA limits Olympics squads to 18. I wish they would increase the squad sizes to 22 or 23

[quote author=lovewins post=126722961]Cameroon just scored. Now 3-0

Seems it's going to be Nigeria Vs Cameroon [/quote

That 3rd goal should have been disallowed.. There was a big foul on the goalkeeper.. The ref really missed it

I agree. Was surprised the referee allowed play to go on after the infringement. Once again shows the importance of VAR in situations like this.

It's more the IOC and not FIFA. It's why the qualifiers aren't necessarily in the NFF's jurisprudence but the NOC. The IOC primarily determine the rules.

Wasn't particularly impressed with her in th first game, but she worked really hard yesterday. A lot of misplaced passes but she won balls had made impressive tackles. I think she's done enough to be invited for the next game, but not necessarily made a claim to a slot in the team cause the question would be who she displaces (not Ayinde or Ucheibe in my book). My opinion sha.

NFF, please, take the game vs Cape Verde to Uyo!

It seems Uyo is the only classy stadium we have. If the International Airport gets opened then both Super eagles and Super falcons can make Uyo their home.
It's also not as hot as Abuja and the crowd would be guaranteed.

That terminal should be ready by December or January

She worked hard in both matches and she had a hand in most of our attacking moments. I think if she had an Ucheibe or Ayinde beside her she would have been even more impressive. With Rasheedat she had to do most the clean up work but with any of those 2 she will be free to contribute more to the attack.

I didn't say she should be a starter but she has to be invited from now on. Let's not forget she is an attacking midfielder by trade.

18 is just crazy. Is that the same for men too?

I don’t know why the Winner of Nigeria vs Cameroon is paired to meet the winner of South Africa vs Tanzania. This isn’t random at all and it’s giving Morocco privilege again, unfair!

Any of Zambia or even Ghana would beat that Moroccan team. Trust me.

Yeah I agree and if it's 18 players, then we take 2 keepers. Using the last WC squad, I would drop these 5 players/positions
1. Yewande
2. Oparanozie
3. Esther Okoronkwo
4. The madam in Russia/Debbie/Onyi
5. The LB we took to the WC

I left Mama there because another defender has to take her place. Imuran is an utility player, can play defense and LW, would definitely leave her.
Also Rinsola is also available, it would be very hard!!! Players who can play multiple positions should have the edge in my opinion.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 12:46pm On Nov 01, 2023
It’s not a FIFA call, it’s the IOC, who are solely responsible for running the Olympic Games.
When you consider the number of days the Olympics games are held, it’s almost impossible to have more than 16 teams per ‘event’ - men or women’s football.
That’s why they have qualifiers - if your good enough, you make it to the Olympics finals.

2. Oparanozie already announced her retirement from club and country football, so she is a non-factor. You really need to keep up with the news.
4,5. Neither Debbie Abiodun, Onyi Echegini not Rofiat Imuran (or even Ashleigh Plumptre) will be dropped from the Olympic squad. They are for future of Nigerian's women's football and will be the backbone of our next WAFCON and WWC campaigns. It would be incredibly dumb of any coach to drop any of those 3, save for injury or an incredible loss of form.

Also, the Olympic Football event has never been on FIFA's calendar. This means Football clubs and all federations are NOT obligated to take a break or release players during the Olympics. There have been many bruhahas that have happened regarding this in the past - John Obi Mikel's bust up with Mourinho while both were at Chelsea comes to mind.

1.My namesake be cooling down. I wrote that players and their positions to be cut. Since Oparanozie is retired which I know of sir, for an 18 man team there's no need replacing her in my opinion.
2. In keeping up with the news, respectfully sir, it was Conte that Mikel had a bust up with and not Mourinho grin.
3. I think for female football, there's a strong chance the ladies will be released.
4. Assuming we qualify and we can take only 18 players, who goes and stays? 18 is a very small number, at least we can agree on that.

Nigeria still have South Africa & Cameroun to contend with

Zambia, Morocco & Ghana will slug it out for the other ticket

Surprised Cameroun got the job done against Uganda

South Africa’s encounter with Tanzania will be much easier than our game against Cameroun

The girls have real tough competition ahead
Ridiculous NFF hasn’t officially appointed a coach on a permanent basis

People will be angry if South Africa ousts us o
Our records against them have been bad lately

Don't think it's feasible. The Olympic games are carefully curated to factor in time (football isn't the only game) and medals. It's why only 18 persons make the team too. I think that has something to do with medals available. The only increased to 22 players available the last time because of Corona Virus.
