Welz: Pls try to differentiate from net and gross. No way 15k fuel will net you 58k, maybe you mean gross tho and when you finally do your calculations, your net may not be up to 30k. Kommot your commission and kommot your 15k for fuel and you will realize what's left is not up to 30k 2 Likes |

Pearl1910: He said he makes 26k in some days which includes 10k fuel and 20% commission. If you deduct the commission and fuel, he will have 10k left after 8hrs of hustling on an average day. Now, if you deduct other expenses incurred, his take home will not be more than 7k at most or even less. For Christsake, he's going home with 7dollars after eight hours of hard labour, hardly enough to buy groceries on his way back home. Coming to your point, it's a terrible return on investment after eight solid hours of work. This is no soft work as you term it. 8 Likes 1 Share |

TheModerator: Honestly, there's no soft work in the hustle anymore, imagine driving 8hours only to go home with 10k when before this fuel palava, I will drive 3hours and go home with 13k just by setting ajah from mushin and setting Ikeja from ajah... And 2k fuel which was 10litres will cover both trips for me... 4 Likes |

Omoapena: That's the point. For a man with kids, he will need to buy cereals, fuel for generator at home, food for his children, other household items on his way home with just 10k? Tell me how much he will have left to even pay bills and fix his car subsequently. Soft work indeed. 4 Likes |

TheModerator: There's drastic shortage of drivers sef because it's no longer soft work, reason why bolt will be giving someone 4km to 6km distance pick up with about 15mins to 20mins drive and they won't still give one privilege to cancel such trip... I was in Ikeja isaac john yesterday and they kept giving me trips from gbagada, oshodi, ilupeju, Allen and ogudu. I decline all and they blocked me for 24hours, forcefully giving me a break I don't want... 10 Likes 1 Share |

Omoapena: That's it my brother. People are turning their back on the business, that's the reason you have shortage of drivers. When you drive for 8 straight hours and you struggle to meet up with basic needs despite the fat dashboard, you just know is quit time. It also highlights why djkayzee231 was unable to fix his knocked engine until his partner stepped in. When you have major issues to sort out with the tool (car) you use for the business, you're simply left in limbo. It doesn't make sense. Not being negative but just true situation report. 5 Likes |

TheModerator: The man came with a problem that requires a solution. Why are people delving into his personal remittance with the owner? If he finish explaining, will the people asking help him to pay up the balance? He needs advice and solutions on what to do, not people asking him what's not necessary at least for now. 2 Likes |

Welz: Well, i give myself daily targets and once I meet up, I go home and if I don't get to meet up, and I'm tired, I go home as well.. I work according to my strength and mood... Sometimes, I meet up with my target within a short time and I continue working to cover for next day target and sometimes, I don't get to meet up with my target so I ended up adding it to next day target... I don't have a resumption time or a closing time... 4 Likes |

TheModerator: Considering his mode of operation, Its a handsome income. I dont expect him to make more, starting work after morning rush hour and barely working more than 2trips at evening rush hour while working only within VI and Lekki phase 1 all through the afternoon. Sometimes u really need to know how people work when they say d job isn't paying so u understand their POV. Coming to dollar comparison of the income, don't even go there. It's universal and I doubt u earn more than $10 daily in your 8-5 job. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Omoapena: I doubt u make profit of 13k before fuel increase for Mushin to Ajah then Ajah to Ikeja (Minus surge). If my memory serves me right Mushin to Ajah would be around 6k, then Ajah to Ikeja would probably by 8k. When u deduct fuel and Commission u would be left with around 8k. If u do same thing now, your profit will not be far from what u got before. U guys should stop building mansions in d sky, be satisfied with what the hussle offers and leave within ur means. Plan ur life, grow ur income gradually and live from what u get. All my brothers are Federal Civil servants and I know what is obtainable in paid employment. Many average drivers earn far more than level 12 Civil servants, d difference is just financial management. 8 Likes |

Well said Themoderator and omoapena. I said the hustle for me is just to put food on the table and take care of some LITTLE family needs. I've said this a long time ago. The hustle is not to hammer. I don't know why pearl has decided to bring this up again. If the hustle is making you hammer, then good for you. This is my own reality! I also fix one or 2 things in the car. The hustle isn't like before anymore! 8 Likes 1 Share

Omoapena be careful with the acceptance rate. If it gets to 50, accept the trips that comes till you build it up again to like 70, then you can begin to choose the ones you want and the ones you don't. I was around 70 before. I'll boost it up tomorrow. Meanwhile from GRA to ilupeju is about 10 mins, if there's no traffic....so you should have accepted considering your acceptance rate score. 1 Like

Pearl1910: I love this submission @ the bolded For a whooping 30k what you're left with is barely half This is the sad reality Unlike the notion the ant and telegram group people were spreading Before you can make as much as 30k - 40k easily and make a profit of 25-30k Now what ever you make half or more goes into fueling and commission except there's constant surge then otherwise |
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by TheModerator: 12:59pm On Nov 01, 2023 |
Pearl1910: Thank God you used the word "universal" in your last paragraph. There's a global price index that Nigeria is not immune of since we are largely a consuming nation, we import almost everything including cars and their parts. When your income is not flowing with global price of goods and services, you will find it hard to keep your head above water. That's why we must always check how much we earn and it's worth in dollars (as the global economy is powered by dollars). Almost everything you buy into your household is measured in dollars. Therefore, we cannot afford to discard that dollar comparison as it relates to our income.. Earning less than 10dollars a day in this country is living below poverty level. Anyone in that sphere must strive to come out of it. |

Djkayzee231: How did u think u will pay for a Corolla for 3years without having a major repairs before finishing the contract? If u had put this into consideration and kept money aside for contingency u would have had enough savings or part to fix ur car properly. I always say ringing corolla engine while using it for ehailing is a waste of money. If u do it, then plan to buy engine in d next 2months. I have given my advise already, u can't give me any justifiable reason why u couldn't pay 3.2m in 2years with a sound corolla, Irrespective of your agreement (except it was a problematic car) and also didn't have money in your account/cooperative/Ajo to fix ur car before partner collected it. It's one of the two, if I get a HP on 25/30k I would certainly have enough money in my account should anything happen, I am covered. Or I pay way more than the agreed sum and complete my payment before partner can say jack Robinson. If it was a problematic naija used car that ur partner gave u, then u have reason to talk hard with ur partner and collect your car back but if he gave u a sound toks/clean corolla, then u have driven the life of the car with nothing to fall back on. That's on u. 3 Likes |
