Onyi Echegini make All-ACC First team of the Year

We better not Sleep on this talent, good she can play on the Flank especially the Left Flank which is her 2nd favorite position apart from the Attacking Midfield..

Maybe Flourish will later flourish. She is the only one I can mention now. Debbie is doing good too but let's wait and see how she perform as a pro.

Omor forget it Deborah Abeodun and Onyi Echegini will definitely own the SuperFalcons Midfield very Soon, they’re very good at their Age and I like how Commanding they’re on the Field..

Wasn't particularly impressed with her in th first game, but she worked really hard yesterday. A lot of misplaced passes but she won balls had made impressive tackles. I think she's done enough to be invited for the next game, but not necessarily made a claim to a slot in the team cause the question would be who she displaces (not Ayinde or Ucheibe in my book). My opinion sha.

We’re forgetting so soon that Peace Efih is an attacking midfielder that can also play as a wide midfielder very well… First game she was very poor but in this game she stepped up..

With Ayinde and Ucheibe back she would seat out for sure… Attacking Midfield wise she would be Competing with Tony Payne, Onyi Echegini then Fresh Blood Esther Onyenezide

Bay FC & Utah Royals FC will select up to 12 players each from current NWSL clubs

Except as noted below, teams must designate all players as either protected, meaning they are ineligible for selection by Bay FC and Utah Royals FC in the expansion draft, or unprotected, meaning they are eligible for selection by either club, according to the following requirements:

Teams are permitted to protect a total of nine players. All other players must be unprotected.

A team is permitted to protect one additional player after the first expansion team selects a player from its roster.

Unsigned unrestricted and restricted free agents are not eligible to be selected in the expansion process.

Under-18 players are not eligible to be selected in the expansion process.

Individuals on the Discovery List of any team are not eligible to be selected in the expansion draft.

Players with a “no trade” clause are required to be protected by their current club.

Teams are required to disclose to the league, along with the protected/unprotected designation, any players who a team believes will be unavailable to play by January 1, 2024, due to injury, retirement, loan, or any other reason. This information will be shared with the expansion teams.

Earlier this year, the NWSL announced the asset selection order for Bay FC and Utah Royals FC ahead of the expansion draft. As a result of that process, Bay FC received the first pick in the expansion draft, which will then alternate between the two clubs through 12 rounds, with each team selecting up to 12 players.

Each incumbent team may lose no more than two unprotected players throughout the expansion draft.

It's what I said. Wasn't impressed at all with her in thr first game, but she put in a lot of work yesterday. I however don't see how she fits into the team with Ayinde and Christy present. She has a better chance making the team as a DM than she does as an offensive player.

This is undisputable but we're talking about the global podium. Any of our players who has the potential to roll with the big girls when it is time for the global awards.

This two should definitely be considered among the Big stars of the future with what have seen Echegini delivers she would be among them as she always find her way in goal scoring Positions, that’s another thing that set her aside her Peers..

Another left footed box to box CM on the radar and soon to be reconned with is Elisha Sulola, who made her debut for Valencia CF in Liga F this past week.

Tall and skillful, a very good dribbler and passer of the ball as well as rugged in the tackle. She is 22.
Naija's SF midfield is stacked with really good, young and upcoming players.
Exciting!

Her strength is in positioning and accurate shooting as well. I love that about her.
I have great hope in Esther, Flourish, and Echiegini.

Yeah yeah… Positioning, Skills, Accuracy in front of goal and she’s arguably the Best Ball Passer in the SuperFalcon even SuperFalcon media Officer Tobex once said it in the Nigeria Women football group that she’s the best and the most accurate Ball passer in the team during the World Cup…

Deborah Abeodun is developing fast and her Strength in midfield is immense…

The top need for the Super Falcons is in my opinion an excellent passer of the ball. We sadly do not have one yet. We have pretty good strikers who can do put the ball in the net if given a chance. Our CB are improving their ball playing capabilities (the pass from Demehin to Kanu for the first goal was sweet). We also have folks like Payne who can effectively dribble and carry the ball. We are however lacking when it comes to an effective passer. It's why we couldn't score a lot of goals at the world cup. Too many misplaced passes characterized the last 2 games and almost everyone was a culprit.

This is where the likes of Echiegini and the young exciting Esther can come in. Also Babajide Rinsola is a good crosse from the wings.

Immense wouldn't be how I characterize her performance. We had little to no attacking threat unlike the first leg so she had little to do defensively. She was ok but again she had no test.

Yes Rinsola is a good crosser of the ball and Esther did quite well when she came in. I'll however not conclude until they both have a long stretch of games to prove this.

JOE however seem to be more effective as AM so can't conclude on her too. Hopefully she gets to feature more so we can see.

We might have had more to do. Ethiopia had more shots on target in the 2nd leg. They had their chances but the defense was just better

We should be talking about having Osinachi Ohale, Ashleigh Plumptre, Christy Ucheibe, Halimatu Ayinde healthy and Available, cause the game against 🇨🇲 will require a lot of Physicality too…

Once Ayinde and Ucheibe da available case close Cameroon should forget about the Olympic Games..
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 2:32pm On Nov 02, 2023
Banyana Banyana striker Thembi Kgatlana has shared why playing at next year’s Olympic Games in Paris with her teammates is high up the bucket list..

South Africa played a 1-1 draw against their opponents last week in Kinshasa and a goalless stalemate at Orlando Stadium will mean that the game will go into extra time and if the score is level after extra time, the match will go into penalties.

Kgatlana says having featured in successive FIFA World Cup tournaments as well as winning the WAFCON, the Olympics is the obvious next phase.

"The fact that we couldn't qualify for the Olympics the last time, I think has to fuel us because we are a team that always wants to go to big tournaments. Olympics, we've been there twice before. The World Cup, twice. So, it's more about like I said keeping the momentum and going for the big tournaments," Kgatlana said.

Getting to the multi-sport event takes some effort with four qualifying rounds being played across the continent. Kgatlana admits this is challenging, but wants Banyana to continue playing to their strengths.

"It's not gonna be easy of course and like I said a lot of people are looking at us as African Champions. They wanna beat us. They bring their A-game. So, it's only fair for us to do the same. To perform, to bring our A-game and to make sure that we play how we wanna play and take out a lot of pressure coming from outside," Kgatlana added.

At Orlando Stadium this afternoon, despite the rain and cold conditions, getting to play the second leg at home should suit Banyana according to Kgatlana.

"I think number one is the weather, it was very hot. It's not an excuse, we can't control that but at home, we know how it feels like to play in any kind of weather. So, I think that's an advantage for us too and the facilities that we have. They had a turf pitch and we have a grass field. So, I think in terms of how we play it's gonna suit our game because we wanna move the ball. Turf holds the ball, it's hot, it's just a lot but I think on grass we are more comfortable. We are a team that likes to play the ball and that's going to give us some sort of confidence."

First of, we must get our acts together against Cameroon, no shenanigans at all. Any little slip or admin errors from us could cost us big time. The road to this Olympics looks hard but of course we are capable of doing it but we must get our acts right.

I know I am way too far ahead of myself. Assuming we qualify, and we have to take 18 players. Baring injuries, this is what I think, 2 GKs, 6 DFs, 5 MFs, 5 FWs.
This is what I think;
Gks
1. Nnadozie
2. Oluehi
DFs
3. Alozie
4. Ohale
5. Demehin
6. Plumptre
7. Imuran
8. Akudo/Nicole Payne* ( I feel we need 4 CBs instead of just 3, NP will mean 3CBs, perhaps Ayinde/Ucheibe could play as a spare CB if push comes to shove
MFs)
9. Toni Payne
10. Ucheibe
11. Ayinde
12. Abiodun*
13. Echegini/Effih/Onyenezide
FWs
14. Oshoala
15. Kanu*
16. Onumonu*
17. Rashidat Ajibade
18. Monday Gift/Rinsola/Esther Okoronkwo

Actually I think Oshoala and Rashida are the only ones guaranteed of a spot baring injuries and team or NFF politics as forwards.
* In my opinion, these names are not guaranteed, the other guys being paired up may just fight for a space with them.

If we qualify, I don't envy the coach making the final team selection.
