The DSS amongst other things has placed order for the Croatian VHS-2 rifle for it's operatives.

The DSS is increasingly ditching the Tavor-21.

Personally, I don't like this all black cammo.

I prefer we repaint to our desert camouflage.

Nigerian Air Force T-129 Attack Helicopter.

The T-129 is officially the most advanced Attack Helicopter in Africa!

PMB really tried for the armed forces...

No we are not, if you critically look at it.

Definitely the best for the military. He did quite a lot in trying to modernise the military.

I agree with you on IDF Cammo for aircrafts, they don't look fine, but our MI-35M helicopters are not bad in desert cammo though.

I'm sure the Air Force will not change the paint of the T-129.

In the last 5 years, consistent and geared towards building capability in overcoming certain types of threats.

In the whole still a long way to go.

Algerian and Ugandan MI-28s.

Together with the Egyptian Apaches and Kamovs, the best attack helicopters on the continent, in my opinion.

Egypt holds the record for me.

Apache and KA 52 (regarded best by the two most advanced countries and place of origin)

followed closely by Nigeria

AH-1z and T129

Then Algeria MI-28.

South Africa

My opinion, Nigerian T-129 ATAKs are the most advanced AH in Africa.

Followed by Egyptian KA-52, AH-64D and Algerian MI-28NE.

If the Egyptian KA-52 was the KA-52M variant or the AH-64E variant or the Algerian MI-28NE were the NM variant this would be a totally different conversation.

Boeing and Lockheed Martin have been upgrading Egypt's Apache helicopters to block E since 2022.

Yeah you're right as they were delivered as D.

However there is an ongoing conversion to E that started in 2022. Boeing is doing the airframe upgrades while Lockheed Martin is doing the avionics and sensors. Some of US Army E versions are also upgraded versions from D. They were recalled to Boeing factory and rebuilt as E.

You are actually correct. Egypt has the most advanced AH in Africa.

Ultimately though, it's nice to see that African militaries are upgrading their capabilities.

Nigeria's route to modernization has had the best impact on the ground in terms of improvement to security. Terrorist groups in Nigeria are largely no longer a major threat, and most have been driven to neighbouring countries.

Security really began to improve when Nigeria placed orders for 300 + CS/VP3 MRAPS and the purchase of A-29 Super Tucanos. These additions provided the military with confidence for relentless pursuit of Terrorist groups in the country.

The Army has taken delivery of 6 x units of Bayraktar T-B2 from Turkey and 12 MD 530F Cayuse Warrior light helicopters, the most advanced variant of this helicopter is coming in from the US.

Reliance on Air Force helicopters and some of the bureaucracy that comes with it would be reduced.

There's also the increased availability rate of air assets.

The M-346FA would also be another game changer when they arrive the country in 2024. Nigerian Alpha Jets are gradually now been retired, the capabilities we can bring to bear on potential threats are increasingly becoming efficient and widely available.

Nigeria has paid over 900 million dollars for the AH-1Z Cobra AH. Although I would have preferred we invested in 18 units of T-129 helicopters instead.

Old model MI-24V helicopters have been retired, I suspect the MI-35P will follow suit as well.

Leaving us with the MI-35M, a capable helicopter, but with the sanctions on Russia I suspect increasingly difficult to maintain them.

It's just that there is no use crying over spilt milk but I really don't like the Viper deal. The Atak is perfect. The Tucano deal was enough to please the US

The AH-1Z is a very capable asset, but it's largely political.

The Americans want to make sure Nigeria is under their control. That's how I see it.
