VOsimhen144: people that use petrol generators don’t use 3 hp AC. Do you even know how much power is required to power an AC? Where you see 3hp AC? A petrol generator cannot start a 1.5hp AC talk less 3hp. Smart people have changed their ACs to inverter AC and have converted to solar. People who live in areas where the roads are not tarred and gutter water runs by their houses use petrol generator, that is where you live. Where I live nobody uses petrol generators. shame will catch you to put on petrol generator. Where I live, our problem was diesel not petrol. Those who don’t want solar wahala are still running their diesel generators and others have converted to solar during the period of grid failure and when diesel went to 800. Like I said most of the time we have light anyway. Somebody living in an are where his neighbors are using petrol generator is talking about 3hp AC…ode!! Even offices do not use 3hp. Stop exposing yourself!! Nothing wrong with petrol generators or living in a high density area but you then come here and try to brag with petrol generator? “Big men” don’t use petrol generators..full stop. The sound of petrol generators is a reflection of the social status of the area you are in. You won’t hear petrol generators In ikoyi, v/I, osbourne, park view or banana island. So oga go and rest. I don’t live in akowonjo or Berger. 4 Likes |

An adjustment is really needed to minimize the effect of this jump in the pump price of fuel and other essential commodities. |

You increase pump price to favor Dangote refinery. Government never paid subsidy to anyone. All they do is to give excess crude to importers. Moreover, pms hit our shores at #80 per liter while NNpCL double d price for profit. Now They are making 500percent profit. Tinubu is taxing Nigerians so that they can have enough money to steal. 2 Likes |

The reported drop of 18.5 million litres in monthly fuel consumption following deregulation is indeed a remarkable outcome. It showcases the potential benefits that can be achieved through policy changes and reforms. Such a reduction not only has positive implications for the environment but also indicates potential cost savings for the government and consumers. It would be interesting to delve deeper into the specifics of this deregulation and understand the long-term implications on fuel consumption patterns and the overall economy. |

oyeb15: PMS has not hit our shores for N80 in over ten years. Infact, not since 2010, if not earlier.... By 2012, it was N99, by 2015, it was N132, by 2022, it was reaching N300, by this year it was around N381 in april If there was no subsidy, by now, NNPC would have long since crashed. Also, oil prices have been very high. Where are you guys getting your figures from? |

9japride: I agree with you about our politicans being corrupt and wasting money....but we are not a rich nation. Rich nations are countries like Japan and Germany that sell manufactured stuff, and can set their prices. Oil rich nations are always a step away from starvation...infact 2020 when covid was high, and oil prices were as low as 24 dollars per barrel, our shame was exposed. Yes, we are potentially rich in natural resources, but we are not very rich because we insist on selling them, not taxing them, and not using them to make manufactured goods and servicies Even oil...we produce about 1.5million barrels, Libya produces 1.7 million. Libya has 8 million, we gat 180-220million people. Divide the revenue, and per capita Libya has 20 times more from oyel per person compared to Nigeria. That is why Gahddafi had money to give Libyans free stuff every year. If we want to be rich, we have to use our natural resources to produce goods the world needs. That is why we should have voted for a candidate who would have been talking about doing that, not APC and PDP over and over again. And anyway, if you are a graduate of a government university, government subsidizes education for you. Ditto health. That's why when you go to hospital for operation, your debt is not in the millions upon millions of naira like your US counterpart.(Tinubu's loan for education could change all that) 2 Likes |

nairalanda1: Please leave long talk. We are rich. Do you know the amount of wastage in our system? From local government, federal ministries, federal and state agencies, educational institutions, etc. All of them are just criminally minded. All they know is just loot loot. None of them in position of authority does anything to uplift the masses. Adults who can't ensure a good society, rather they are champions of looting. You need to get close to those politicians and civil servants to understand their mindset. |
