BlueRayDick: My wife wanted to give birth at general hospital when we got married because she heard their matron has experiences over private hospital matron. We lost the first pregnancy to general hospital because my wife that was bleeding was made on sit down for more than 2hrs because only one doctor was on ground. |

larride:My wife's CS was done at Island Maternity in Obalande and it was superb. That was 4 years ago and the CS fee was 105k. A lot of doctors on ground. It was a nice experience. Mind you, I can never make use of a typical general hospital! 1 Like |

Segedinho: It really depends on the particular public hospital and the private hospital. There is a bare minimum standard below which most public hospitals (at least secondary and tertiary centers) won't go, but private hospitals can sometimes scrape the barrel when it comes to unethical and unsafe practices. Then again, the top private hospitals will be better than the public hospitals in most cases cos it is the same specialists but working with better equipment and in better environments. |

larride:Sorry about your experience, my wife also insisted on general hospital even though my office HMO was there But our own experience was pretty fair the only annoying thing is they left her alone to be shouting from 10pm to 2am The foolish doctor excuse was she's stubborn and not obeying instructions he proposed CS I didn't even argue I was leading her to the theatre when she felt the urge to push again and she had it without the CS but I still pay half of the CS money sha My people are wondering why we have not try to get another they didn't know the PTSD I suffered that day is still there plus her blood pressure have not returned to normal till date 1 Like |

Is it the increasing number of substandard private hospitals wey una dey eulogise? Let us add levels to this thing. Top private hospitals are okay; The Evercare, St Nicholas and some other expensive/affordable ones around us. But many private hospitals are death centres. The major problem of government hospitals is the lack of equipments and manpower. The doctor(s) are more qualified than what most private hospitals parade. LASUTH is a government hospital that is very okay.Even LUTH is okay, except for the lack of equipments. Nigerian Navy and Army Hospitals are okay too. Make we no go praise private hospitals too much oh. Many are not better than roadside canteens 2 Likes 2 Shares |

izzou: There are so many private hospitals that are very good and even though they are not up to dem St. Nicholas , Lagoon hospital , Reddington ,Eko Hospital etc standard . I’ve used a couple of them in the past and I can confirm some of them have equally good doctors ( mostly doctors who work government jobs also work in those hospitals as side hustle ). Some of the advantages those private hospitals have over government hospital is the fact that u can walk in anytime and have ur health issues attended to. Nobody will ask u to first go and pick an appointment date to see the doctor . They are more empathic ( which is something that is lost in public hospitals ; till this day my mum still tell tales of the shege she saw at Ayinke House during childbirth ) I remember sometimes around early this year I had issues with my ear and had to go to the hospital to complain . Less than 20 mins after seeing the doctor , they had the ENT specialist check my ear and a procedure was carried out . I was relieved after a day or two using the oral drugs I was given . I can’t imagine the same situation playing out in a private hospital . I co-saw shege with the rest of my family at LASUTH last year . The bureaucracy , lack of human kindness and care free attitude of government hospital health workers is a huge turn off for me . I will pick a decent private hospital above dem LASUTH any day anytime on general medicine issues 1 Like |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Itsrm(m): 6:38am On Nov 10, 2023 |
BlueRayDick: I agree with you here. They lack empathy and have this I dont care attitude that I can't really describe. Until someone has an accident and the bone is completely crushed or someone has been shot, nothing is an emergency. They will just leave you there in the waiting room. Thank God for HMO. Nothing will make me visit a government hospital. The good doctors in public hospitals are still consultants in private hospitals. All the surgeons in UCH, LUTH e.t.c have private hospitals that use them. Wetin person con dey find in government hospital again? |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 6:42am On Nov 10, 2023 |
BlueRayDick: I already reiterated that the problem with government hospitals is lack of staff, equipments, and the pressure has removed every iota of empathy from the staff. Asides that, they have more qualified staff than most private hospitals There are not so many good private hospitals. Maybe you are using Lagos/Lekki eye to look at it. Where are the many good private hospitals in areas like Badagry, Shibiri, Epe, Ojo, Kirikiri? But people will need to do CS there...So? Health care is not cheap. Just browse the prices of medical equipments and you'll know that what we call "private hospitals" are just school clinics. Decent private hospitals are not much. No use big man eye look this matter abeg |

izzou: Baba every area get em own fair share of good hospitals , it’s affordability that is the issue . At least I’ve lived close to some of the areas u mentioned up there and I know the people there will know where to go to get good health care . That lack of empathy is a major issue with the government hospitals .The value they place on human live is not much at all. I don’t think it’s majorly lack of staff and equipment . LASUTH and LUTH for example are well equipped with medical equipment and qualified personnel in different departments ; yet u go see shege there except u get “leg” to take fast track ur treatment . Make person just pray to have money to be able to afford private hospital or hope his comapny has a good HMO plan like itsrm pointed out. |

izzou:Most of the doc in private hospital are from gov hospital...They gives different attitudes and listening ears to every single drop if complain in their respective private hospitals.. Where my wife gave birth 4 days ago,do you know that the nurse came as around 2 am to clean everything my wife messed up including washing my wife's pant..(yeah you heard me right)she washed her stained pants as well as cleaned up everything..... Gently bath my wife ...bath d baby after cleaning his poo around 6 am d next day...always came to ask questions..infact slept in thesame ward with us.. I was dumbfounded cos I haven't seen something like that b4 except ofcourse in a movie.. The doc himself left London to permanently stay in Nigeria for his profession. At times,,,a listening ears plays a major role in the recuperation of a patient |

BlueRayDick: We are saying the same thing. My only issue with the talk is how you guys are suddenly placing Private hospitals above government. Naaah Very few can be there. If you leave me, 90% are just clinics. Most can't treat past Malaria and typhoid, then carry out deliveries. Just need a surgery, and you'll see them refer you to either an expensive private hospital, or the same government hospital that is shiit. Many private hospitals are not decent. A 3 Function hospital bed is about 500k now. How many decent private hospitals have that? Let me not even go into other equipments that cost millions. Some medical equipments are up to $100,000 Anybody that wants to stone government facilities is right. But if you wan rate Private over am, state the class. A lot of them cannot match LG General hospitals sef |

Segedinho: You are right. But if i give you a listening ear, and i am not a professional or i don't have the equipments to treat you, of what use is the ear? Government hospitals have no empathy, but bros, many private hospitals cannot be rated over them. I mean...MANY |
