Anime or Live action? Which you wan watch?

One Piece has some of the craziest Foreshadowing and mystery...
The world building is some of the best in fiction.

I once showed here some posts about timeline of events in One Piece and it's crazy...
So many events throughout thousands of years even before the present timeline of the show

The Netflix adaptation is good but the goofiness is toned down

Seems we're afflicted with the same disease. 😭😭 I also downloaded ep 1 of Invincible the moment it came out but I'm yet to watch it. It's not easy these days because this November down to January next year is choked full with top projects.

I have never really considered watching One Piece; is it interesting?

Well, the One Piece live-action was very entertaining to me. Fun and enjoyable... Decent action scenes and some interesting lore and world building.
It was engaging enough for me to want to find time to watch the anime.

Well, the One Piece live-action was very entertaining to me. Fun and enjoyable... Decent action scenes and some interesting lore and world building.

I mean they both brought it with their performances, Sam Reid easily blew Tom Cruise's Lestat out of the water because he took the character to where Cruise was scared of taking it to evidently in Cruise's contract and Gaga put that Juliard's acting degree to good use,she won the Golden Globe for best actress in a miniseries the following year but let's be honest,who voted more for this? Gen Z? Even I'm Gen Z and yet I still acknowledge there were lots of TV vamps that deserves this title more not to mention the fact that we were only given one season each to see both characters in action,AHS :Hotel is even not on the list of best AHS seasons, it's just memorable because of Gaga and maybe Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates

Male vampire I like lestat for the role with elijah Mickelson a close second.

Female vamps if Pandora or Gabrielle ever appears on a TV show and the characters are well built then possibly one of them. Off the top of my head I cannot see a female vampire that has held my attention.

Anne rice the vampire chronicles is one of the best books ever written and would be a massive hit if properly adapted to tv. The vampire lestat and Queen of the damned are in my top 10 of all time.

I'll suggest the trick I used:

It took me about 5 years to catch up, but you can do it in less than a year.

Watch like 150-200 episodes at a stretch, then take a one month break...then repeat...
You'll be going by arcs...most of the later arcs are like 100-150 episodes long

As long as you fall in love with One Piece, the number of episodes won't be an issue. There's years I didn't watch a single OP episode. There's months where I binged a 100. Even right now as we speak, I'm 300+ episodes behind and planning to catch up next year.

TL-DR: Them no dey rush One Piece like party jollof

Cos I wasn't an ATLA fan and I didn't care much about the source material then...

But when I rewatched ATLA, I truly realized how bad the movie was

I wonder how painful it would have been for fans who saw the movie after being fans of the animation

Maann. It might be one of Nickelodeon's best animation in history. The story and character development arc was so top notch. It didn't drag longer than required, inside 61 episodes, they gave us total magic.

The movie adaptation was always going to have a hard time replicating it, and maan, they didn't even make any sensible attempt at all. A very very poor adaptation, probably M. Night Shyamalan only L. It was so bad that they had a sequel planned but they had to eventually cancel it... terrible terrible flick.

Queen of the damned was a complete let down,the only redeeming quality for that movie and why I sometimes go back to watch it was Aaliyah's performance and the soundtrack was fire

imo anime is one of the best storytelling medium for me...

What can be done through the animated medium is of no limitation. Some animated shows know very well how to use the advantages of the medium since live action is very limited...

Attack on Titan is living proof of how to use the animated medium to tell a very complicated story and build a very interesting lore...

For example Armin and Zeke's conversation in the Paths in the final AOT episode. I'm not sure how you can properly convey all the deep messages in that conversation in live action tbh...

It wouldn't have hit like animation.
In fact the entire paths sef is like something that love action shows will run away from due to how complicated it is for casual audiences

One of the reactors I watch on YouTube also made a point about it in one of his streams. About how unconstrained animation is and this allows you to do far more in animation than in live action without it feeling weird

I wish you'd give animation more chance tbh...
Once you get used to it, you'll understand the beauty of storytelling through animation

I'm talking about the book not that crap fest of a movie. The movie did not do justice to any of the characters and followers of the vampire chronicles would have puked out their guts after watching it.


The new series did justice to interview with the vampire which on its own was a boring book. The vampire lestat and Queen of the damned were fire from start to end. Characters well fleshed out that you felt for them.

Yu Yu Hakusho live action trailer

For fans of the anime. The anime was made by Togashi the same dude who wrote Hunter X Hunter. He wrote Yu Yu Hakusho before HxH.

Considering this is a series and not a movie...I wonder if they'll reach the Dark Tournament Arc. Those who've seen the anime know that the Dark Tournament Arc is one of the best tournament arcs in anime history (if not the best)

I don't hate animations; I watched lots of them, and I still do (occasionally). The problem is that I don't give animations as much attention as when I watch humans act. And these days, I can't even watch a full movie in one sitting, no matter how fascinating that movie is. Watching AOT up to the third season is testament to how good it is, and in due time, I will surely return back to it.
