My German was nonexistent when I got here. I remember stepping into a supermarket to buy a new Sim card and the old German lady sold me a voucher. I wan complain give am, she change am for me in angry German I gently swallow my L go my apartment.

Playing football with German boys really helped my learning because football is a universal language and is part of the international guy code. I’ve played football with Argentinians, Brazilians, Uruguayans, Italians, Germans and Portuguese without knowing Spanish or Deutsch and everything works well.

I wish i learned German before traveling, my life would have been infinitely more easy.

I have now reached A2 certification in German proficiency which means i can relate with people on a lot of topics. My fluency still needs work because i have to consciously translate from English to German in my head and that’s a lot of work.
