Peter Obi’s Purported Investments Are Worth Next To Nothing, Says Soludo

https://www.channelstv.com/2022/11/10/peter-obis-purported-investments-are-worth-next-to-nothing-says-soludo/

Someone once said it is when breweries fail you know a country is truly in trouble. In good times people drink and make merry. In bad times they drown their sorrows in alcohol. The failure of hero beer should actually be taught in business schools. Particularly as president obi had shares in it. No corruption no conflict of interest, just the most honest governor Nigeria has ever seen.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Bismarck Rewane, has said that Nigerians are more concerned about the rising food prices and less bothered about the 2024 budget

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Business Morning’ show, on Thursday, the respected economist said, “In the end, budgetary arithmetics, budgetary mathematics in economics is of no use to anybody except when by this time, six months, if we are buying rice at N40,000 a bag rather than N60,000 a bag, if we are buying bread N900 a big loaf instead of N1,300 which we are doing today. If we are buying garri at lower prices. “The people are not interested in whether the budget is balanced and what the debt is. How does it (the budget) affect their day-to-day livelihood? That is the key thing.”

The economist said the high level of poverty is already causing mental health challenges for many people.

He said, “You will notice that on the streets of Lagos in particular, the number of lunatics has increased and part of it is driven by poverty.

We are having “many mental health issues. People are pushed to the wall. Some of them walk across the road even in moving traffic.”

He said the government must be honest with Nigerians on the economic realities, noting that people cannot start pretending to be happy.

“You can fake news but you can’t fake prosperity,” Rewane noted

Before the election Tinubu himself said he won't give any excuses, and also doesn't want anybody to make excuses for him. But today people keep making all manner of absurd excuses for him. 7 months later, Mr Tinubu is yet to hit the ground running.
Anytime we talk about how bad the country has become, some people will start telling us about how PDP did same thing or didn't save money. I can bet my balls that if GEJ remained in power, even with the said fall of oil revenues the country wouldn't have gotten as worse as it was under Buhari.

If firearms are made legal in this country, in a month the death toll would exceed total death toll recorded in USA till date. All these APC supporters are very stupid.

He is not wrong. All Nigerians care about is inflation, but most are too stupid to know the root causes of inflation.

Ibime:

Nigerians just want you to fight inflation, stuff that hits their pocket directly. And that power is often out of a Presidents hand.

A quick reminder that Ibime has ALWAYS had a soft spot for the APC despite their proven multiple failures in governance.

Know that Ibime supports Tinubu, right after also supporting Buhari. During Buhari's tenure, ibime consistently defended the APC regime while simultaneously attacking anything PDP.

This is just to remind you guys because I know I will be needing to do this from time to time.

Focus on the issues. I don't have soft spot for PDP or APC. I have criticised APC times without number. I only have soft spot for educated commentary and detest foolishness and butchering of economics

If inflation is all you care about, and you lazily dismiss the impact of oil revenues on defending the Naira and thus taming inflation, you are as foolish as the day is long

Tinubu told you he will float the Naira and end subsidy, as did Peter Obi

Both has happened and you are shocked

When politicians talk, take the one that is meant for you and leave the rest. The speech Tinubu will give the Nigerian Stock exchange is different to the speech he give the pepper sellers in the village. By your level of education, you will know which of the speech to pay attention to

A renowned economist is stating the obvious, the exact same thing I've stated repeatedly which is that common man only cares about inflation. Did he tell you HE is not expecting inflation under the conditions? I'm sure he has been hedging against it personally with dollar holdings like I've been asking guys to do for months and years.

What is lazy is dismissing the impact of oil revenues on those prices of goods. That's what I called lazy not any megedefegede you are talking about.

If everybody hedge with dollar holdings including artisans and pepper sellers in the current situation we've found ourselves like the economist is doing, how will naira and the economy improve/grow....is that what we should all do till the root cause of inflation is gone cheesy grin

Ibime, only someone who hasn't followed you for a long time will be deceived again by you. I'm not ashamed to admit I was partly influenced by your views on buhari and APC, even adopting your staunchly anti-pdp positions.

This below, documents your positions on APC and PDP throughout the years. That last post was basically you still hyping buhari despite seeing how much of a failure he already was.
Accept that you were wrong.
Some of these posts are from 10 years ago when I joined this forum.

Ibime:
I think I have said enough about GEJ over the last year so right now Ima siddon look and let whatever happens happen.

Maybe he is putting his horrible performance in 1.5 years as Bayelsa Governor down to the need to "stabilise".

Buhari performed wonders in 2.5 years as PTF chairman; Amaechi and Fashola the same in their respective states in the same time period.

Of course, someone over-engaged in the machiavellian politics of settlement would have no time for governance.

Ibime:

Guy, we did not wait 15 months to see the effect of Amaechi's work in Rivers State.

Nor did we wait 15 months to see Fashola or even Oshiomole in action.

Buhari was President for 18 months, and his policies are remembered for a lifetime.

Buhari was PTF head for 2 years and people remember what he did.

What did GEJ do in Bayelsa State? It's a simple question.

All we know is that he opened Bayelsa's coffers for PDP campaign in 2007, and his wife planted a few hundred million worth of flowers in the state (inbetween being dragged up twice by the EFCC).
So please tell us what he did in Bayelsa, and lets see. . . .

Ibime:

Your man Goodluck already destroyed your nation, you couldn't see it because Oil was at all time high. I make no apologies for supporting Buhari because Buhari had a record of delivery both as Director of the PTF and as Petroleum Minister

Ibime:

I no send them but the mark of a thief will never stain my thumb.

Buhari performance has been disappointing to say the least, but PDP would have done as bad during the oil slump.

Between Atiku and Buhari, I know Atiku as a man who helped bring Customs to it's knees. At a time when most other Government agencies were.still functioning, Customs had become defunct as far back as 1980s as they were all thieves. People used to lose so much at the Ports or have to pay ridiculous bribes back then.

The only one with record of public service is Buhari - Petroleum Trust fund was the last sustained infrastructure development program in Nigeria, and Buhari executed it brilliantly. You cannot have lived in Nigeria in the 1990s and not been touched by it's impact. Many of the roads we use today, school infrastructure etc were last upgraded or built in PTF days. Someone once argued PTF built 144,000km with about 80,000km in North and 60,000km in South saying Buhari is biased. I said stop right there. No Government has built even 10,000km of road since then.

As Petroleum minister, he built 3 refineries, they said why build refinery in Kaduna. I said first there is savings in piping crude to the North rather than trucking, secondly none of the complainers could explain the energy mix needs of Nigeria. Since then, not even a modular refinery has been added in Nigeria.

He staunchly venerated Buhari the failure and now supports another failure in tinubu.
This post will still be a reminder of shame in a few years time.
