That's what they do.

The moment they see another competitor, they buy you immediately.

I heard they tried buying La Casera, but the owner said "Over his dead body" grin

It is all about timing. The guy is taking a gamble that the US are too preoccupied with Isreal-Hamas and Ukraine-Russia, and yes Russia must have had some input in the decision-making process.

Coca Cola already bought Chi limited since 2019 na and the company has not died any painful death .

I think it’s just a case of Coca Cola seeing a viable business , offering the owners good money they cannot resist and Coca Cola expanding their product line .

Coca Cola seem to be a good company cos I didn’t hear of Chi staff being retrenched enmass since 2019 when Coca Cola bought over t he business ; that’s commendable if u ask me cos most takeover like that usually affect the staff majorly and not the owners who have collected their money and move on

I am not talking about retrenchment.

I'm talking about not wanting any competition at all.

That’s how most forward thinking business people think na.

U see a competitor that has prospect and May one day edge u out of the market with its product offering ; the reasonable thing to do is to buy the competitor now that u still have the money . Use ur years of experience to further that their prospect and u Also still have a control of the general market .

I am thinking as a consumer

Very soon, anything juice i touch my hands on will be from Coca-cola

And the moment that achieve that, Instant monopoly.

U are an enlightened consumer na.

So many consumers on this nairaland don't even know Coca Cola bought Chi; so far they didn't see any change in taste, quantity, branding and quality of the product. Even when they eventually know about the ownership they most likely won't care all things being equal.

As regards monoploly, they won't achieve it 100% in a place like Nigeria where people imitate ur product's name, design and branding just to chop out of ur initial market share. Dem go flood market with imitation of ur products with less efforts and still make gains.

We need to go back to regional government, if we don't want to divide the country. Honestly I do not see how this country can be developed to reasonable standards in the next 200yrs.

Na you dey shift post.

You said Nigeria is too big for one man. When presented with countries where Nigeria is like 3 states combined, you shifted to existence grin

The truth is Regional governance would be worse than what we have now.

Just yesterday, we talked about state governors. Despite what they have, none of them have developed their state to a reasonable standard, in relation to their handouts from FG and their IGR.

So what makes you think a Regional government will change anything? Oh suddenly, SE, SS and SW will become Dubai in 60 years? Na lie.

As long as there are no systems to demand accountability and dispense justice, if you like divide Nigeria to 774 countries, Nothing changes.

......US is practicing true Federalism bro. Each federating operates like a nation and independent of the Central Government to some extent. They control their own resources, have their own police and so on.

Besides, USA has been in existence since 16th century, kinda surprised you are comparing to Nigeria that's unknown until 20th century. LOL!

Forget about regional government, now you are making sense. The only system of government that could work for Nigeria is for each state to stand on its own. Just like it's done here.
