Well,to many his opinion is insult to us,not qualifying from a group that have Cote d'voire,Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea seems not possible.

Cote d'ivoire is a host country so all we need is to win our first match and at least get a draw against Cote d'ivoire, our last match against Gujnea Bissau would be difficult based on what happened during qualifiers, defeated us at home and also lose to us at home.

The Ivory Coast are typically strong starters in AFCON so they are favourites to top the goup(plus home advantage).

It will be really shameful if the SE fail to qualify from the group in an expanded AFCON with best loser slots.

This is JP's last chance at redemption with the team.

If Salah goes trophyless again this season it won't be so straight forward that he will emerge CAF player of the year for 2024.

Though it's very early days front runners for next year are Salah, Boniface, Kudus but the upcoming AFCON will give a clearer picture.

Marjoribanks:
For where? Salah is winning it hands down!!

LOOKMON is in a terrific form man! I am very proud of him. I believe LOOKMON has the stamina to play a central midfield. Anyways, the boy is quick, skillful and full of energy. His shots accuracy is impressive.

Charles is right Sha. They need to justify picking them in the team with meaningful career moves. I know making it in Europe as an African is tough but others have made it work. Look at someone like okoye. He was picked while playing in the lower leagues of germany but today partly because of his super eagles appearance which gave him visibility he is now in Italy. The super eagles is an international brand and lately it's painful how our npfl stars who have featured for us since atleast afcon 2013 have failed to utilize these big opportunities. It's been 10years since we conquered the continent. Where are our npfl stars? . Where are egwuekwe, MBA, odunlami, agbim, juwon oshaniwa, uzoenyi, Reuben Gabriel, gbolahan salami and a host of npfl stars that have played for the team since then? This thing is supposed to be a mutual partnership; we invite them, they play for us, go to better clubs to improve themselves which will be of benefit to them and us but it seems it's only the local players that benefit from this arrangement. The last npfl player I can remember that made a move abroad and became a main stay in the team is etebo. Talents are emerging and the local stars need to start making moves in order to join the team.
u get time to answer emotional and sentimental fellows 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

With the poor quality of the NPFL and that of its players none deserve a chance to even mk super eagles C team

The only position I will encourage to be scouted in the NPFL is our goalkeeping department

No right thinking coach that wants to achieve something tangible in any continental and global competition will neglect players balling hard in top leagues and clubs in europe just to accommodate bricklayers and butchers from the NPFL

I will even prefer promoting promising U20 players to the snr national team than hand npfl players such opportunity

I partially agree with you that Npfl stars don't utilize the opportunity but let's ask ourselves how many of the chances are they been given?

The example of Maduka you gave didn't gel because none of this boys been called up has ever enjoyed half of the privilege Maduka enjoyed. It's either they introduced them in the 87 or 89mins aside the Keshi boys.
oga if you give them 120 mins they won’t do shit

Football don evolve and don pass that stage of kick and follow. Our NPFL players lack tactical football education, also they are age cheats. The very reason they hardly attract clubs from Europe’s top 10 leagues

Do you know that Nigerian players doing very well in top leagues and decent clubs in europe are product of our local academies and grassroot clubs? huge numbers re exported every year from this academies/grassroot clubs which our Npfl clubs can’t boast of

When was the last time an npfl club made a statement in continental competitions or even the CHAN designed for local league players in Africa?

Answering the question paragraph after paragraph ..

MBA didn't need 120 mins.

The football that has evolved is it the football club football or national team football? are we both not here when our super stars can't retain possession for 30 seconds?

No lie about the academies thingy

The last time any Nigerian club did well was Sunshine stars I think and the last time we did well at the CHAN competition was during Keshi era.

That said, the gaffer is responsible for picking His Arsenal's and will be responsible if everything go south which I don't pray for in this coming AFCON and he has done just that.

Lastly, We have an Awaziem in this team, average player which I rate a lil bit but lately he's not it and the stats don't lie even though it's indicative and not conclusive. And We also have a Sodiq Ismail but no matter the stats he's not good enough because he plays at home?.

For some of us calling for 1 or 2 Npfl stars have you seen one person talking about the striking position? Ponder on that last question if our talk is based solely on emotion because we want an Npfl stars

Philosopher1979 is right..

Nwakali will give the coach the option of resting Iwobi by subbing Iwobi out in the 2nd half instead of him playing full 90mins even when he his tired..

Awoniyi's injury became worse due to Awoniyi playing for the SE despite been partially injured when the coach and NFF could have invited another player in his place..

As it is now, Ihenacho should be excluded from this AFCON due his injury.

Nigeria has too many players to choose from and should protect players with injury by not inviting them.

creative players like Ejuke, Nwakali, Orban should be in the team.

Quality, Creative players do not remain in dead teams season after season and in poor quality clubs with poor quality players. In the case of Nwakali for the past 8 years.

Chávez has a -23 goal 🥅 deficit after 15 games loosing 11 and winning just 3 ,two by sheer luck because players were sent off.

Why is a quality player in a dead team getting €2k or less a week.😨. Because he is too good.

I just went through what you posted up here. Anyways, if wishes were horses, we would ve had someone like Tosin. But in here and now, we cannot mention him cos he has not committed to the Green and white.
In the backline u cancelled 2CB's in Omeruo & Awaziem without mentioning capable replacements.
Dele Bashiru, Alhassan & Tella would ve been good additions to the team MF. But no one told the coach to limit his Arsenal to 5MF and entire team to 25 players.
Akpom breaking into that attack will be like a camel passing through the eye of a needle. He has only Sadiq to displace, not even Musa.

Musa and Sadiq in the here and now are not on Akpom level and Musa is simply expired drug.

So which position or player/players (excluding the goal keeping position) in the current super eagles set up (those uncapped and not in the afcon team inclusive) do u think Npfl player/players can replace or better than?

A simple answer with names of the npfl players u wish to recommend will be appreciated

There are many Nigerian eligible players that SE management have no idea about. Hopefully after Afcon some of the current players will be phased out.

I've always given Bassey the benefit of doubt because of his age as that leaves room for improvement. Glad he's getting better in his defensive responsibilities sadly we don't have that ideal partner in the SE setup to help him raise his game. Ekong, Omeruo and Ajayi are to mid to be ideal foils for Bassey.
