lionshare:You need Serious data to watch Netflix in the first place, poor masses can't afford that. Not to talk of devices you'd need to access the Netflix, Smart TV,WiFi box,data,etc... It's not the Netflix subscription but associated cost. So you see, piracy and asaba movies lives on...The 2 industries will exist concurrently, serving different markets 1 Like 1 Share |

Efilse: I don't agree with you. Some people can double as directors and producers. Do a simple Google search and stop all this assumption. |

TimeMachine3:You'll soon learn that turnover is bigger than aesthetics. A N1B movie that distribution and production cost surely took 20% of the revenue and that will most likely be achieved just once in 3 years is what you want to use and compare asaba industry that they use 3m-5m to generate 15-25m and will turnover this more than 30times a year for a serious producer? You're still naive. Redbull cost 1k on the shelves, fearless cost 200 or so, Later go and check NBL balance sheet on Fearless and also go check Alva on redbull. Dey play 1 Like |

SeaTrade: Hate dey blind reason and logic! E no go help you. What you don't know is it's a progressive journey......our movies are getting on Netflix, Amazon prime, it's getting noticed......which would start bringing heavy investor into the industry. But it first had to start with quality. See it takes time, creativity and $$$ to create quality not the asaba rubbish we did in the past, that made cheap quick profits and almost wrecked the industry. The new Nollywood is on the right trajectory. 4 Likes 1 Share |

N800m for a movie produced in 2016/17 is greater than the N2 billion of 2024. Statisense should know better. You can't make any reasonable and responsible deductions or valuations from your Naira-based listings. The Naira is too unstable for this nonsense. Use percentiles ONLY. 1 Like |

While one tribe (the yorubas) invest heavily to make quality movies. The other tribe does quick, easy movies to get easy money. The quality of Nollywood movies will greatly improve if the yorubas take a leading role 2 Likes |

Pristine664: As pathetic as your warped reasoning sound, I'm inclined to ask - why were this "noisy southern neighbors" given the lead roles in the same movie? Why didn't the likes of your "de-sophisticated", hypocritical Z-list actors/actresses take up the role n fetch Funke same revenue? Now here's free knowledge - Lionheart alone was sold for $3.8 million which was about 4.5 billion naira then. Did you hear any "noisy southern neighbors" disturb your forebears and kids unborn about this figure back then? Now Use the current forex yardstick to convert $3.8m quickly n see how your exposure to reading n writing is an utter waste of space and effort. Internet slowpoke. |

Armaggedon: Your "igbo are always the best" mentality still continue in 2024 despite seeing overwhelming empirical evidence from Statisense. If Genevieve's Lion Heart tops the chart, looking at all the variables including those you mentioned, Statisense would have put her name. As at the time Lion Heart was bought by Netflix, the equivalent in Naira was about N1.3b or so and you cannot tell the buyer to increase their naira purchase value to present value of Naira visavis the dollars. 3 Likes |
