Shegzdave: Very true They will speak with a lot of authority, manipulating their congregation. I watch a lot on Facebook In Bro Gbile Akanni's words, "They will change a simple statement to big big grammer". 1 Like |

izzou:I don move with some god of men but this Man own just Dey organized and hard in manipulation, I’ve seen some things about this god of men that made Me believe that most of those churches are financial institutions. How they can manipulate one into thinking that making them is making God happy is what amazes Me. You just have to be manipulative, be a conman, able to think deep( using the probability of an outcome to make a prophesy) and boom you’re a pastor, though not all of them sha |

izzou: 100%. In Igboland and as my father always says "Anaghi a lucha nwanyi a lucha", loosely translated to mean you never stop paying for a wife. There are things on the list that are must haves and things that can wait or never get paid. I have not seen where a woman did not marry her man because he did not fulfil everything on the list given to him. Some families can be difficult but that is where the man's kinsmen who are experienced come in. It is why you don't approach bride price meetings, especially in Igboland with rookies or friends who have 0 understanding of how things go in Igboland. You go with experienced uncles and kinsmen. A lot of young folks are strangers to their kinsmen, uncles and community and only reach out when they need something. Make I jist una small.... Last year, I was part of a group that went into bride price negotiation on behalf of an extended cousin who was getting married to a first generation Igbo daughter here in the States. Her father and his kinsmen presented the list that was sent from the villa. We presented what we physically brought and told them the things we will pay in cash for the must haves, the others will be done in the future, remember the saying up there? Our side huddled up again and totaled the cost of what wasn't present in the must haves and presented the total in cash (dollar) to the father's kinsmen. Remember, by the time you total everything that we needed to pay to carry our wife home, it was pretty much nothing considering we paid in Dollars. Na when e dey for Naira na e be like say na something (Naira don suffer.lol) The father's kinsmen vex, they argued, the money presented doesn't meet the value of the items on the list that are must haves. Na him the eldest man (89 years old, he was an accomplished/ retired Professor in the US) in our group, who flew in from Nigeria for the wedding said, since the list was sent from the village, we are costing in Naira and since Naira isn't the National currency of the United States where we are marrying our wife, we are obliged to pay in Dollar..Na him we begin chant victory praise for Igbo. Immediately we pay cash, father of bride called his daughter in and handed her over to the husband. Both families are well to do, so it wasn't about the money but Ome n'ala! Stay in touch with your culture guys! 6 Likes 5 Shares |

In my perspective, the tradition of bride price has outlived its usefulness. Despite arguments about maintaining cultural respect, I perceive it as selling a child, and the specific price seems irrelevant. Even if the bride price is 19 naira, paying it before marriage feels like a purchase. Some argue for cultural preservation, but we've abandoned practices like killing of twins in the past; cultures should be flexible. |

BlueRayDick: The story is not even extreme compared to those of David Koresh, Jim Jones, Rajneeshpuram, Heaven's Gate etc I think that some people are just naturally susceptible to being influenced and controlled by such schemes. It is not really about education or enlightenment but about if something deep inside you makes you vulnerable and susceptible to being a victim and/or enabler. 1 Like |

Disstroy & Patrickmuf did Betta Edu practise at all? I checked her wiki page and noticed they only talked about her studying medicine , having PGD in public health and that’s all. They just jumped to her sojourn in politics , nothing concrete about her professional career as a doctor or stint as healthcare practitioner |

BlueRayDick: She has basically been an ''executive" doctor. We know the type. Graduated from Uni in 2010. Was a house officer 2011-2012. NYSC 2012-2013. Masters London School of Tropical Medicine 2013-2014. Special Adviser to the Executive Governor 2015. There has really been no time to have a proper career in medicine. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Roland17(m): 6:31am On Jan 09 |
Ibime: You are right. While not encouraged, some of the must haves can be settled with cash if they don’t go with everything but you can’t or shouldn’t go empty handed looking to settle everything in cash, it is deemed disrespectful. |
