Take these people serious at your own expense. I will only take this Dangote Refinery serious when I start to see measurable impact in terms of positive changes in the lives of Nigerians. They can do this showoff in the beginning only for the Refinery to downsize later, Nigerian government is capable of anything. |

Richtaiwo: It is not carbon monoxide that destroys the ozone. Go and update your knowledge bank. Infact, carbon monoxide constitute largely to environmental pollution(quality of air).Green house gases responsible for ozone depletion are chlorofluorocarbons as well as carbon dioxide(CO2). Climate change (excessive heat speeding up the evaporation and precipitation process, leading to excessive rain and flooding) are caused by green house gases. However, a poor drainage system and poor waste disposal can aid the severe impact of climate change. 1 Like |

justtoodark: Leave them. They can pay 7x for fake bottles of Azul but can't pay 6k for a bag of cement. The makers of Azul only release about 100 bottles per year. Yet Nigerians consume about 2k-3k bottles monthly. Where they are getting their own Azul from beats my imagination 4 Likes 1 Share |

Biodun556:so what exactly is the benefit. This will only make inflation static, reduce the purchasing power of people and make the naira useless. Under full capacity, the price of fuel should be adjusted locally to #300 that's the meaningful thing to do. |

ZKOSOSO: You should be asking why all the Southerners that got licence for refineries did not start them up. Like Oriental refinery, for example. The answer is, subsidy made it unprofitable for them to do refineries. Only people who could do refinery under subsidy regime was Dangote, and that is because Dangote has the sources of income that would enable him to do collateral with the banks that lent him money. When some of us say subsidy should go, it was partly because we wanted more people to be able to take loans to build more refineries...since now subsidy is gone, the potential for profit means that banks would lend them money easily. But most of you Nigerians no wan hear. Na cheap fuel we want. And it isn't just Southerners, many Northern refineries...must it be only Dangote from the North? There are others, but because of subsidy, dem no wan do refinery too. Sometimes, some 'harsh' decisions are for our benefit. But we said no, so here we are. I'm even not surprised Dangote is favoruing his own people. Na his private business. Plus, if I was a Northern governor, I would be putting pressure on him to employ our people. If he was from the South, I would have expected the same thing. The problem is subsidy made fuel refining so unprofitable in this country that potential Southern refinery tycoons could not do business. I don talk my own. 7 Likes 1 Share |

justtoodark: I feel for you. Why would Dangote buy feedstock at international price? That is the first problem, if he signed a supply agreement with NNPC to supply feedstock from their allotment for local production. Because that is where the issue lies. |

SeeWahala:What a very dumb post! With a weak mind like this i will be very surprised if you are employed. The major benefit Nigeria stands to gain is reduced pressure on our nations FX. Second, hundreds of thousands of people are going to be employed. That value chain will trickle down to hundreds of thousands people if not millions. Third, FG cannot claim credit for this because itβs a privately built refinery. 4 Likes |
