I plan to relocate to Canada from UK probably next year September. I have one and half year experience in care in UK. I would appreciate if anyone can suggest a cheap and good college to apply for diploma in healthcare in Canada. Can I get a good college between 9000-14000 canadian dollar ? |

Godsknight: That's amazing. What part of the UK are you in? I have seen people move from the UK to Canada. You sure must have your reasons. I spent 2022 Xmas in the UK after a few years away. Saw everything I needed to convince me not to return there. In the end, it is about your prospects in the UK vs Canada and above all yout happiness. Hello Everyone. Please I have a couple of questions. I am a lawyer here in Nigeria, about 4 years post-call call but I have never practiced law. My experience has mainly been in sales and business development for about 3 years now. I got ITA last year and I'm hopeful to land this year with the intention to live in Calgary so I've been seriously thinking about the best career path to follow in Canada and to start planning ahead now. I have I.T. certifications as a Scrum Master and as a Product Owner (PSM and PSPO) and I also plan to sit for the Agile Project Management and Business Analysis certifications before I travel so I can pursue a career in I.T. as a Project Manager/Business Analyst in Canada. Recently, someone advised me to not sit for too many certifications so that I am not overqualified for entry to mid level jobs since I don't have a lot of experience in the field. There is also the option of studying and sitting for the bar exams in Canada and pursuing a law career as it seems that everybody is trying to become a Project Manager nowadays and the competition for those roles is really high so pursuing a different career path may not be a bad idea. I really just want to know if it's a good plan to work with and if there are opportunities for young professionals like me or the possibility of getting a decent job, especially in Calgary in I.T or even any industry generally, or if there are better options to consider as far as building a career is concerned. korodejvo: You have got plenty and time ahead of you. It all depends on what you plan to do. What do you like? The options are endless. There are any employment services open to PR holders and upu can start to benefit before you arrive. Start by connecting with people on LinkedIn. I have gone through that IT certifications path in my former life. It never stops. What ever you do, try to have that additional career which you have already. All I can say is that with your law background, you shall chop and chop. |

korodejvo:If you have never practiced law in Nigeria, how do you plan to start out completely new in Canada with inadequate experience? That's going to require some dedication, especially as it's a new country and things are not going to be immediately clear from the beginning. Writing many certifications should not be a thing that worries you. You just leave out the certifications you don't want employers to see when you fill out your resume, and include the ones necessary for the job you are applying for. 2 Likes |

Please, guys, I am on my knees...I don't know what is happening ooooh. Ever since I came to Canada 3 months now, no job. I have certificate in CPR/HEART&STROKE. I am about to even write security government exams and I have a police clearance and vulnerability certificate. I have experience in Personal Support worker/Care giving. I have experience in Housekeeping also. I did some warehouse jobs in Nigeria too. I worked in a supermarket too. I have a Bsc in Geology/Geophysics in Nigeria. MBA which I didn't finish before coming to Canada. I am also a student presently at NAIT I need work ooooh, bills are coming and no job yet. Edmonton is my location abeg, any update on legit job, please I would appreciate 🙏 |

I started thinking about law just recently after a couple of colleagues in Canada advised I consider it and also to have a plan B career wise if the first one doesn't work. just to have as many options as possible. I'd take your advice regarding the certifications. thank you NuCypher: 1 Like |

korodejvo: I have an engineering background and developed interest in programming. First job out of uni was in IT. I had good IT certifications and IT job but determined that I was better at engineering management. I felt more efficient and fulfilled with engineering management. Let me use football analogy. Let's just say I am a better manager than I was a football player. The experience and discipline from programming, studying for and passing certifications and grinding is still helping me today though. Finally, Project Management is a very strong asset in Canada. jakeroberto: How are you structuring your resume? There's a lot going on in the experiences you listed above. They're all for different roles so if you're not already tailoring your CV to apply for a particular role, you're doing it wrong. Secondly do you drive? Not driving limits a lot of job opportunities. So many jobs require a driver's license. If you drive, look for opportunities in smaller towns 30/40minutes outside edmonton. They may be more desperate for workers. Do you have a PSW/HCA certification or you only have the experience? In Alberta, most jobs advertised for health care aides need the certification and won't hire if you don't have it. You may want to look into disability support services, those ones hire people without certification. Submit application online and follow up in person with a hard copy. Goodluck! Taal17: The difference will not be much. They will use pre fabs and those prefabs are made in companies with minimum wage workers and minimum wage workers are cheaper than labourers. All countries have minimum wage workers at more or less thesame proportion |

You don't need large human capital to build gigantic structures. This isn't about the cost of labour. I still don't need more than one human being or max two humans to use an equipment that can do the job of possibly 100 human beings |
