grin let me state this point
USA is never winning the womens game again
Football lives in Europe and the world has caught up with them in terms of tactics, infrastructure, talent in the female game
England, Spain, Sweden have surpassed them now if you ask me

The Athleticism of the US is one advantage they had in the past but I don’t think they’re really off yet… Only Spain is the major threat in women football right now.. England to me isn’t that a Big threat… Sweden is very good and composed too but they tend to fumble at the final or Semi final stages of Big tournaments..

Lol, it's like you don't know the US still has the largest incubator of talent in the world for women's football. On the talent side they aren't lacking. They've just lagged behind recently in the administrative end. To claim they'll never win is being naive at best. Yes, Europe is waking up and all but the US is still very formidable and can still win.

I really pray for a fully fit, complete squad for wafcon. Most especially that midfield. We need to wrest that aspect away from SA. I also pray we get a proper 9 going forward.

I also pray we get our setpieces aspect up and running. The pk were so bad we don't even want to talk about it since then.

I believe Randy have learned his lessons, He just came in then even though there was a lot of time for him to do away with the likes of Sluggish Rita Chikwelu and Co… Again Halimatu Ayinde was nursing ACL injury back then when Randy started and she returned going to WAFCON 2022.. He had to make do with Rita Chikwelu, Regina Otu, Amanda Mbadi, Joy Bokiri, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Onyebuchi Goodness and co.. Even Okobi was hardly available then.. But the good thing now is that he already have the likes of Ayinde, Ucheibe, Abeodun, Payne, Echegini etc.

One Mistake he made was delaying in bringing in Ucheibe, even while he was commending her on Twitter during the UEFA Women’s Champions League games (One I remember very well was Benfica vs Chelsea) he spoke good of Ucheibe..

At least he don learn his lessons, if he doesn’t Win WAFCON, qualify for the Olympic and take the team to at least Bronze Medal spot then I can say that he failed because the team is already above 50% Compact!

Exactly. These folks literally have the best college programme for women's football in the world (probably the only one that exists). Their college programme is better than some football leagues and they are very well funded. Yes Europe is growing but the US is still very formidable.

They have the talents ( There’s one of their 17yrs years old Midfielder who’s currently a Starter for Ajax in both league and Champions League games) scattered all over the World. They just need to get things right again... NWSL is also getting in a lot of the European, Asia and Africa players right now for better competition.

There’s another League coming up in the US right now called The USL Super League
A new league that will be kicking off in August 2024 with 10 to 12 teams that will play at the same level as the National Women's Soccer League, the top tier of women's soccer in the United States. The USL Super League announced that it will apply with U.S. Soccer for sanctioning at the top level... And the report going on is that they will Pay higher salaries than the NWSL and compete with them in all aspects.. But again I’m still wondering where the funding is going to come from

Oshoala doesn’t deserve top 5 world best
She’s not even as good as Sam Kerr
Recent performance & realistically speaking

So the award is for the last 3 months?

That 9 is very important. We need a striker! Thank God we now have a solid midfield. The like of Umeh, Elisha and Edna should be called up and assessed in friendly matches to determine if they fit in (they will surely). Otu and Mbadi should be given chances too... I'm scared of Ayinde's injury issues lately.
Otu maybe, Mbadi?? not so sure.

But I would pick Christy and Abiodun as regular starters always.

So where you put Ayinde?? Cause I can see the Disrespect from some of you here about her..!

Injury aside no body in that Midfield can bench Halimatu Ayinde in her Position right now..

Ayinde sure. But the post I replied to already lamented how unreliable it is to bank on her due to the rate at which she gets injured. So we were speaking of players to take the baton in her absence.

I grab now, cause I was thinking I’m the only one seeing Elder Halima impact in the midfield.. Best Friends aside Okobi herself openly said she loves playing in front of Ayinde because she knows she’s there behind her to Clean things up.!

From 2014 till date that Lady has held her own in that Midfield playing alongside and in between the likes of Rita Chikwelu, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Ngozi Okobi, Chinaza Uchendu, Osarenoma Igbinovia, Tony Payne… The most indispensable under all the coaches ( Edwin Okon, Florence Omagbemi, Thomas Dennerby, Randy Walking) from 2014 till date…!

All the Coaches them picking their Midfielders as far as Halimatu Ayinde is available she will always start alongside any other two in Midfield. Her recent injuries have been a major concern especially since coming back from ACL in 2022

One thing I see again is that there’s a good understanding between Christy Ucheibe and Halimatu Ayinde in Midfield.. Both knows when to drop for each other!!

I really pray he has learnt. He's really familiar with the team and the potential. He will have no Afcon excuse going forward.

Personally, i don dey prepare for when Oshoala and Ayinde will not be getting starting shirts going forward. I'm going to miss Ayinde in particular when she retires. She too sabi. For now, let's see how we'll navigate the Olympics qualifiers and get that ticket. Personnel too full Randy hand right now.

He should sha address that setpieces game. If we qualify, it will be a great addition to our game.

Macleans dey
Blessing Nkor dey
The makeshift don taya me.
These two can fill in imo. But no sign of call up any time soon.
Nothing is exciting me right now than how packed that midfield is.

Ayinde deputy don dey ground anyway. That's the joy. Like i said, we going to miss her alot. Baller.

I like Macleans too especially her build. However she needs more exposure in a competitive league.

Macleans Chinonyerem is that no.9 I so much believe on .. I’m a big fan of a well built top9. One of the reasons I love the likes of Birgit Prinz, Abby Wambach, Lotta Schelin, Desire Oparanozie, Gaelle Enganemoult..

She’s quick, Uses both feet’s effectively, good in the Air, very physical, can hold up play and decisive in front of goal. she probably would have finished the top scorer in the Russian Women’s League if not for the injury that cut her season shot..! Anyway I still have high hopes in her as age is still on her side.. If she can replicate this form in stronger league like Spain, England, Germany or France i believe she stands a good chance as our no.9

Pls try check our Nkor style too. She's built too. Birgit that year. Once ball was touched by her, very hard to dispossess her.

Yeah yeah Maclean moving up the ladder in her Pro Career is quite good.. From Nigeria to Belarus down to Poland and now Russia..! A move from Russia to a bigger League side like Spain, France, Germany, England, NWSL and Italy won’t be difficult.

This bot ban me. This year should be a highlight for 9s for SF.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 3:11am On Jan 20
She really wasn't impressive at the last WAFCON when she got a chance to feature. Hence, she never got a follow-on invite.
I really don't see her being better than Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide, Esther Okoronkwo or even Edna, in terms of speed and quality finishing and overall command of the #9 striker position.
She also offers very limited versatility - can't play on the flanks.
Truth is: the quality of the Russian league is pretty low, comparatively, which may inform her relative success there.

I honestly don't see how she fits into Waldrum's team, in light of the players we currently have and those that are up and coming. Best of luck to her and hope she proves otherwise...
