The fact that the army never spoke about neutralizing the bandits or showing any evidence that they engaged the bandits in combat ; it’s an indication that definitely ransom was paid .

No be today Nigerian security agencies will claim they rescued victims only for victims’ family to confirm they actually paid ransom to have them released

Most times those fire are not caused by normal NEPA electricity but by generators .

The thing is that those occupying upstairs as shops don’t install their generators downstairs , but same upstairs where their shops are located . U will mostly see their generators having by the balcony/railings from the second floor to the topmost floor.

When the generators burst into fire due to one reason or the other , the close proximity of the buildings in that area prevents fire fighter from easily gaining access to the place to put out the fire .

Markets do not open on Sundays or at Nights, and these is mostly when these outbreaks happen.

Also, markets that allows NEPA too is at risk in these situations. Person go forget to off switch or unplug something

If everybody is using their own generators, be rest assured that the possibility of fires at night would be difficult.

Or better still, make every shop dey pay insurance yearly

Those market sometimes open on Sunday ; and yes NEPA Light too causes some some of the fire outbreak .

I worked in that marina axis for close to 8 years and most of the fire outbreak that happened which I heard of were due to generators catching fire .

Most insurance companies will not agree to insure their risks considering the level of physical hazard involved. The buildings are too close to each other meaning fire can easily spread from an Uninsured building to several insured buildings thereby leading to insurance paying millions of claims on a risk they have little or no control over .

The best solution is to relocate those markets , but I don’t think any government will attempt that in the nearest foreseeable future. Those places are close clustered residential premises people turned to markets over time.

GOOD NEWS 🚨

AIR STRIKES NEUTRALIZED NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPER, JANARI, IN KADUNA STATE

Air strikes undertaken by the air component of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, on Thursday, 18 January 2024, have neutralized a well-known terrorist and kidnap kingpin popularly known as Janari and several members of his syndicate. Janari and his cohorts have been responsible for several attacks and abductions within Kaduna State as well as along the Abuja-Kaduna highway. The strikes were authourized after Janari and his gang were sighted at a location near Gadar Katako in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Further exploitation revealed that they were massing up for a likely attack or kidnapping of vulnerable civilians, hence the need to immediately attack the location. Intelligence received after the strike revealed that Janari was indeed eliminated alongside several other terrorists/kidnappers. Similar air strikes were also carried out on 20 January 2024 on confirmed terrorists and kidnappers’ hideouts near Chukuba in Niger State with various degrees of success. Feedback after the strikes was also positive as it confirmed that the targets were neutrlized and their mobility destroyed.

Collaborative efforts by the NAF and other security agencies will continue across all locations suspected of harbouring terrorists and kidnappers.

This is the way.

I read a piece that said the security services knew where the kidnappers were that kidnapped that family of girls in Abuja and wanted to bomb them to smithereens along with the hostages

I'm inclined to agree with the approach as a deterrent. You can only geolocate these kidnappers when they ring whilst with their victims. If this becomes policy, their hostages will become unfortunate victims but it is better to kill all kidnappers with their victims than allow those kidnappers live because they will go on to kill ten times more. After a while, they will find less risky business to pursue.

These Fulani kidnappers these days are full blown terrorists and murderers unlike the SS and SE kidnappers where you have good chance of living, and they should be treated as terrorists with all the collateral damage that comes with that. This is an unspoken policy the Israelis have with their citizens who are taken hostage. They will rather bomb the terrorists together with their citizens than use a more costly approach that emboldens and equips the terrorists for future ventures

I am so sorry for this example, but if your relative was part of the hostages, will this be a better approach?

This one no go work for Naija. The outcry and blame on Najia military and govt will be overwhelming. Even those kidnapped hopes and prays those outrage ransome demands are paid for their release.

I believe that these kidnappers are known. Their hide outs are known. So if our govt is serious to take them out, they can achieve it. You can't tell me that these criminals are with hostages every min of the day. When they kidnap, make calls demanding for ransom. After confirming their hideouts, the ransom should even be provided by the federal govt, followed by a barage of bombing of their hide out after the hostages are released. After releasing the Abuja hostages, the culprits are still walking freely....abi them get new replacement hostages immediately?

Even NYSC advised her prospective Corp members by issuing a memo that they should prepare their ransom money just in case they are kidnapped while answering their clarion call.

I guess they should change it to " please, prepare to be blown to smithereens just in case you ever get kidnapped. Your sacrifice will save other prospective Corp members in the future."

It is very easy to talk when it is on paper or when it does not involve you personally. It is one thing to have a view that bombing both terrorists and victims is the way to go, but it is another thing to state that those who do not agree with that method are too emotional.

The solution is to go after them in such an aggressive way that they do not enjoy the proceeds of their crimes or know any peace. Go after their families. Go after their property. Go after their businesses and investments. Make being a kidnapper unconducive for a peaceful like. That is what the authorities should be doing first before just lazily bombing both perpetrator and victim.

That time northern governors under during Buhari’s administration were granting amnesty to bandits and terrorists claiming there were “repentant “ , I knew this period will come .

Those governors were premising their amnesty for those non-state actors on the fact that if FG can grant amnesty to Niger Delta militants , then they should have no problem arranging for terrorists and bandits in the north . What they don’t know is nobody taste blood and money made easily from shedding blood and still want to go back to living a crime-free life .

Like u rightly pointed out, the right attitude is to go after these kidnappers and their families . Our military have drones , they should deploy them in the forests to track these terrorists and then plan rescue operations from intelligence gathered . These kidnappers make calls , they should track them . Except they are telling us our military is ill-equipped to combat arrange rescue mission within our own territory .

Very easy, brother.

I don't even see how this is effective. The people in the bushes are most likely not the kingpins.

Evans was not in the bush, and he had policemen and soldiers on his payroll.

Bombing them erases any form of intelligence we can use to nail the moneybags sef
