No Good personally all these empty threats no go dey move una .

The only reason a pastor would insist you offer professional services for free is because of familiarity. Same pastors hire Christians to come setup things and offer their services yet pay them. I learnt this firsthand.

Years ago, a certain renowned pastor would hire my friend and I to come handle/head his church's media. We got the gig through my friend who's a producer at a radio station then where they had become acquainted.

Every weekend (Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening), we'd come in with everything taken care of - transportation, food, lodging, e.t.c, and still get paid. Of course, we'd go through the motions of after-service, getting further acquainted with him and to discuss about media strategy.

Months later, he wanted a church website. I gave him the quote, and he questioned why I was asking for money for it. "This is the work of God", he said. "Adding God's work to your résumé is a blessing", he added.

I saw the signs and bolted. We'd become too familiar and technically I was attending his church so why pay me more for extra services when he was successfully blackmailing others not to charge anything?
After months of evading him and the familiarity had waned a little, he called me to pay.
-----

Mercy Chinwo was doing free ministrations at the church she worshiped when she was in Akwa Ibom. Immediately she distanced herself and developed while at it, the same church pays her millions to perform when she gets invited, the last time I heard. Freke Umoh too.

The only reason a pastor would dare say such to you is because of familiarity. You reverence him. Genuflect before him. Worship him even. Call him "Papa", and worship in his church. Offer same service to other churches and you'd be paid.

Pastors, like politicians, are opportunists and Machiavellians. They understand the Art of Psychological Warfare than most people, and use it deviously to their advantage. They are the two types of men of substance/influence I am most on guard around. Slip and you'd be exploited to death.

All the big pastors pay all the big gospel artistes that perform at their churches during concerts , conventions and music festivals . It’s only their own choir members they gaslight not to “charge the Lord “. That’s the only explanation why the big gospel artistes have money and the pastor’s choir members still look up to God of “papa” for breakthrough .

Even this same Ibiyomie cannot claim he doesn’t pay any of the big gospel musicians that play in his church during special events .

E come be like say Nigerian Muslims know the religion pass Saudi’s ; the same way Nigerian Christian’s appear to know the religion pass Europeans wey bring the religion.
Forgetting that even the son of Prophet Noah were amongst those who drown. An Arab is not superior to a non-Arab, a white person is not superior to a black person except on the basis of piety and noble character.
"The most honorable amongst you are the pious" Bilal was a black slave yet he is more honored more than Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl who are of Quraysh.

I'd be specific. The Akwa Ibom State Government paid Mercy Chinwo #15 million plus flight tickets for her band and accommodation at a 4-Star Hotel for less than a 7-minute performance at the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol last December.

Mercy Chinwo charges between #7 million to #10 million for her performances (20 minutes at most). Her former church in Akwa Ibom pays her this much. She performs regularly at Salvation Ministries programmes in Port Harcourt. Ibiyieomie pays her in millions. Any dedicated and talented chorister who doesn't get paid for it is a fôôl.

He'd keep tricking them by telling them he's giving them the platform and exposure to grow. Heck! They'd be too enamoured by him to ask for what's their due.

----+----

One of the ladies I got very acquainted with at the church I mentioned finished her master's programme to go serve the Papa. She literally worshipped him and was even assisting in the serving food and kitchen duties in the man's home with his wife as I saw a few times. And she's from a very rich home.

Somehow she was able to break-free and doing well with an international travel agency in Lagos as she told me when we reconnected two months ago.

It's almost like hypnosis.

What piqued me about the said lady was how skilled she was.
She had a master's degree, was a baker, and could make custom shoes, bags, and jewellries to match which she did on demand.
I've eaten her cakes, cupcakes, and pies, and they were tastier than the word "delicious".

How he had a hold on her to relegate those commercialisable skills which she was already making money with to go grovel at some Papa's feet and be servile to him and his family should be studied.

That Papa title is probably enough to hypnotize just about any overly-churchy person; and it works always, as in her case too.

Remember sign fireman?

A journalist also did exposes on the man. They also came to naught.

Someone needs to start regulating these churches, but it will be politicized and turned into persecution nonsense and Nigerians will jump on all the anointed bs.

They really got out of control in the gej years. That was when they all started buying private jets. Do you remember pastor bling bling (ayo oritejesafor) who was dashed a private jet by an anonymous donor?, that was when CAN became thoroughly and irredeemablely politicized. That same jet was used in the 15m.usd gun running scandal.

Any government calling for regulation of religious organizations no just get plans to dey succesful grin

I think the only kind of regulation that can be done was what OBJ did by placing a ban on live-streaming of miracles on TV. That way anybody cannot claim he was not protected enough by the authorities .

Any attempt for government to do more than that, gbe religious leaders will start misinterpreting it and their followers will take their word for it.

They will deliberately misinterpret.

As an example - who are the real sponsors of covenant university? We don't know. All the infrastructure used to build so many of these churches - is the money from tithes only?

For all you know churches could be used to launder kidnap money. Or yahoo money. That's how opaque their operations are.

If na by Infrastructure , wo churches too borrow money from banks like every other business.

What they do in such instance is that they access credit facilities from commercial bank for capital projects and then peg their source of repayment to donations, pledges , special offerings etc . The members will pay back the principal and interest without even knowing .

I’ve seen such facility offer letter before .
