Itsrm: They will soon tell you Nigerians are wicked and greedy people, and it has nothing to do with the government. That was how one on frontpage was lambasting farmers for increasing the price of foodstuffs; afterall they planted it on free and available soil, so they should have no reason to increase. And i started wondering if this moniker is okay; ....Like very okay? 9 Likes |

izzou: Our politicians have mastered the populace, them no rate Nigerians at all. There is no consequence for failure in Nigerian politics. Patapata, you take a break for a few to enjoy your loot. If they end up in jail, they are given palatial treatment there and are out before the end of their sentence, maybe forfeit a % of the loot. We are wailing about APC who have been a disaster, but let me assure that if PDP or LP wins, those same criminals in APC will decamp and join the PDP/ LP or the winning party, so what gives? Increase fuel to 2000/L, they know Nigerians will only wail but they will buy. Insecurity can meet everyone at their door step except the rich and politicians, nothing will change, they know Nigerians will only wail. This is especially sad for a country with the amount of educated citizens and tertiary institutions littered around the country. I can go on and on. We need to start from the process that nominates these criminals for elective positions. Until parties begin to present credible and prepared candidates across all levels. Also, Our institutions are extremely weak, I keep saying this. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

Roland17: The positive of changing unperforming political parties is that it filters a lot of corrupt politicians out of the system; not all, but a lot If APC didn't win, people like Bagudu, Matawalle, Heineken, Betta would have their hands almost or completely out of our cookie jar. We cannot be saying we have thieves as politicians, and then support the system that gives them a platform to steal. Change parties if they fail. One strong message it passes is that the politicians will now realise the people now have the power to do and undo. APC no be my party, but when i came to Ebonyi, I must confess, Umahi changed everywhere. If they conduct the election again, I doubt if another party can win. If this Nwaifuru underperforms, the people should kick him out. That way, his structure that failed too will leave. 2027, we go still vote APC, then come back and tell ourselves that Nigeria's problem started from Oloibiri. 13 Likes 1 Share |

izzou: Well, you are making my point about politicians having 0 consequence for failures. The country is riddled with killings by marauding Fulani herdsmen, food shortage, kidnapping, hostage killing and insecurity. There is no power, inflation and unemployment are double digits, exchange rate is a mess and fuel is selling at unbelievable rates… Now, Ask yourself, what have the Senate and HOA done about the current situation? In a serious country, both houses would be putting tremendous pressure on Asiwaju, Infact, he would have been forced to make an appearance but no.. you know why? Look no further than the profile of the senate President. In which world did anyone expect Akpabio, a renowned “Gbemistic” man who can’t even hide it with some of his utterances perform or care about the populace? Wasn’t Akpabio a founding member of the PDP and a member for the longest time? But guess which party he won election to become a senator and subsequently Senate President? These are people that are elected to speak for the people, why are they not? Take a look at all the politicians serving this government and you will see many have cross carpeted so many times that there is no more carpet to walk on. Our electoral laws are too lax. I remember when aviation workers shut down airports across the country in protest, did the government not resolve and address their grievances? How many of them want to travel by road? They know what is waiting for them if they keep the airports shut because of the strike. 3 Likes |

izzou: Even this one complaining about free water forgot the Sumo bringing out the water is not powered by free water. The nylon they use, cost transportation of goods and routine maintenance has gone up astronomically. I don't blame them, na frustration. Meanwhile, I have a strong feeling that once they effect minimum wage increase, they will fully remove petrol subsidy and fuel will cross 1k per litre. |

Roland17:Thank you so much for the bolded. Folks keep talking about the APC as if it is a person. 80% of politicians in the APC were once in the PDP so, it has more to do with the class of people we elect to lead us than the party and our knack for not holding elected officials accountable. Even if LP had won, the national assembly would have frustrated Obi and who's to say most of these crop of failures wouldn't have decamped? It is the sad reality of the society we find ourselves, see Doyin Okupe who was indicted by the anti-graft agency rose to the level of campaign DG all because he has the resources. If Atiku or Obi had won, they'd easily welcome into their fold someone from the APC who was a former governor/senator/minister than elevate a modest party faithful. The system rewards people with no values. Looking ahead, will the average Nigerian demand good governance instead of asking for crumbs from politicians? Will the average Nigerian grow above ethnoreligious bias when the law catches up with someone from his/her ethnic group? When I served in Osun State, I got to meet one of Aregbe's SAs from Ipetumodu in Ife-North LGA. Every other weekend he comes home, and the whole community flocks to his compound, they have to cook from Friday to Sunday when he departs and not just that, he dispenses cash freely. So, where exactly do the people think he gets all that money from? Also, how will they be able to ask questions about the government he works for after eating their cake? Nigerians first need to set our priorities right. To demand accountability is to reject the crumbs but seemingly, it is a big ask for Nigerians... 9 Likes |

patrickmuf: Good point. But i would agree completely with you, if it was the poor, hungry masses were the only ones voting these failures. But when we have educated, enlightened ones voting a party that failed, what would be the justification for that? On this thread, people who supported APC here clearly told us here that APC failed, so what is the justification for voting it again? Abi dem collect crumbs? No guarantee that LP would be better, but the gain would be to checkmate mediocrity, and send thieves to retirement. If LP fails, they already know that o ti lo If APC had lost, Matawalle will not suddenly decamp and get a position. He will wait for 4 years, at least, assuming the new government doesn't open his file. We reward mediocrity too much in this country. What we would not accept to run our business, we would gladly apply it to run a country 4 Likes |
