πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ Ghana to get new alumina refinery as government announces GIADEC’s strategic partner for Project 3A

Ghana is set to benefit from a new alumina refinery following the successful selection of a strategic partner that will work with the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) to deliver Project 3A, one of four (4) projects being executed under the Integrated Aluminium Industry (IAI) projects.

The execution of Project 3A – Development of a mine at Nyinahin-Mpasaaso and the construction of an alumina refinery, will put an end to decades of exporting raw bauxite from the country to the refining of bauxite mined in Ghana to produce alumina that will feed the VALCO smelter.

ABOUT GIADEC GIADEC is a state-owned company responsible for the development of an integrated aluminium industry in Ghana. The company’s portfolio of assets includes mining rights to all of Ghana’s 900 million tonnes of bauxite reserves, 100% shares in Valco - Ghana’s smelting company and interest in Ghana Bauxite Company Limited, a producing mine that has been operating for over 70 years.

Over 60% of its local wealth and budget, spear heading various regional agreements and programs not to mention contributing the most money, equipment, and manpower to the peacekeeping operations throughout the region.

All this is common sense and everybody knows it. So tell me are you just playing dumb or are you an actually this r.e.t.arded?

Kindly explain these points further when you say "1) Over 60% of its local wealth and budget..., 2) ...not to mention contributing the most money ..."
Does the number 2 form part of the number 1 I listed above or its a different contribution.

By your estimation how much or what percentage do you think Ghana contributes?

I know for sure Nigeria and Ghana make the most contribution? And I believe Nigeria will contribute more than Ghana, I just want facts.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by vankelvin: 10:29am On Feb 01
You are very clueless and stupid as well

"Assuming" 60% of Ecowas money comes from Nigeria (which is not true)
1)Where is the Ecowas Secretariat located at?
2)How many nigerians work there as compared to the other member countries?
3)Which local economy benefits more from the Ecowas/the headquarters, meetings et al?
4)Which country gets more benefits from the activities of Ecowas?

How do you expect other countries to pay equal amount to support Ecowas bugdet when the Secretariat employs more nigerians and also when your local economy gets the lion share of any benefit that comes with the Secretariat?

How do you constantly complain about your country's contributes to Ecowas when your country benefits from Ecowas as an institution more than any other country?

You are a useless olodo

Infact nigeria should be paying 80% of Ecowas local budget but unfortunately they are too poor. With all the benefits they enjoy they still have mouths to complain

Even Ghana is not complaining na nigeria

No one is saying Ghana is all good but you cant be comparing with countries we are doing better than
Africa infrastructure development index 2022
https://infrastructureafrica.opendataforafrica.org/pbuerhd/africa-infrastructure-development-index-aidi-2022
Ghana 81.14
Nigeria 69.22
Kenya 58.73
this was quite helpful

The points you're raising are exactly reasons why Accra, Ghana should be doing wayyyyy better than we're currently doing. You don't agree? Because the ADVANTAGES we enjoy as a country are ENORMOUS.

There's no BRT system in Ghana. We couldn't implement it. It requires creating dedicated roads on both sides of existing roads for ONLY BRT buses to ply to reduce traffic etc. we couldn't do it. We did trotro with the BRT buses, made losses because they're big and stop too often so people reverted to using the old smaller faster trotros and most of the BRT buses we imported are rotting away

I can raise several points but it'd only prolong my comment. Sometimes I say give Ghana to even Nigerians and see how they'd turn it around. If we were a serious country we should be exporting electricity to Nigeria by now.

That you and a lot of Ghanaians are 'content' with our mediocre performance is why we're where we are, when we can EASILY achieve more and become the eldorado we wish to be.

Ivory coast suffered 2 civil wars, 2000 plus people died etc BUT they still held on to their number 1 cocoa producer tag. If it were us?... 'small' bawku conflict we can't solve, now the factions have resorted to shooting innocent passengers in bawku bound buses. imagine we had a boko haram? I could go on and on. There's a lot of nothingness/bareness/lack of leadership in our spaces, so don't act as if we're making anuly significant progress. With the ADVANTAGES we enjoy as a country, we should be doing wayyyy better.

Go and see cocoa Produce Buying Company PBC, it's bankrupt and it's assets are being seized. Aden? We can't manage anything?

And this 'mediocre' mindset reflects in even our black stars. See how other countries are 'killing' themselves to do exploits for their countries .But black stars would be lethargic, play as if there's nothing at stake etc. we'd be a goal up or down, Richard ofori would be so slow to start the game, wo dwene ho a wontease

Etc etc. 'poorer' Senegal, go and look at the wonderful things they're doing. Doing BRT, running ELECTRIC train, building a new city etc. Whoever is running their space is visionary, and you can see it in their doings.

Etc etc
Nigerians cannot afford to pay the electricity bills Ghanaians pay.

Give Ghana to Nigeria and they'll run it down to make it another Nigeria

What happens with old trains. Do you throw old trains away simply because it is old, or take a new one simply because of pride . There is purpose for everything and not necessarily because I want to copy my next neighbor simply because that is the new trending thing happening now.

There are many countries of advanced standard that still maintain their old trains alongside a new one
