Two Ministers in the Federal Executive Council on Friday expressed concern over the deleterious effects of fuel subsidy removal and floating of the Naira on the economy.

The Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Abubakar Bagudu and his counterpart in the Ministry of Agriculture Senator Abubakar Kyari, picked holes in the economic policy of the present administration.

The duo spoke at a session with the joint Committee of the Senate: the Committee on Finance; Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions Committee and Appropriation Committee.

The Minister of Budget noted that the removal of fuel subsidies has instigated a high cost of petroleum with attendant costs for farmers.

Senator Kyari in his observation declared that devaluation of the Naira in the guise of floating the currency has made farm produce in the country cheaper in the neighbouring country and consequently encouraged what he called “undocumented exports of food to our neighbouring countries.

Our food products are the cheapest around the neighbourhood,” Senator Kyari declared.

“Our food products are the cheapest around the neighbourhood,” Senator Kyari declared.

So produce more . This is exactly what the policy is supposed to do. More exports means more forex and the inability of farmers from neighbouring to compete on price . Kick this one out already

In a sane country its either they are sacked or they resign since the policy is not in tandem with their vision.

They president don't have balls to sack and they are integrity challenged to resign.

What we have now is executive officers that are not on the same page.

Two northern ministers. Are you thinking what I am thinking?

Confession time.
I have said it that even in the US and the most advanced countries in the world, with average incomes 500 times our own and able to afford basic life needs,if fuel price had gone up and their currency devalued, both at the same time, there would have been riots in their streets because of the effect it would have on everyone.
But here,a balablu wanted to act Jackie Chan, thought he was knowledgeable when he has been found to be empty or at best sawdust brain filled;went ahead to announce both measures on his first day in office.
And like all empty brained people, when the effects of what they do or their policies start going awry, they look lost and clueless or what next to do.
This is the sad situation of our life today with Tinubu.

Aren't you supposed to be happy that you got increased exports whether
documented or undocumented since it is not for free?

Supported.

Any stupid minister who doesn’t want to join Baba Emilokan to continue to teach Peter Obi a lesson should jejely resign and stop complaining.

It’s Awalokan government.

What matters is that we are in power.

It doesn’t matter if every Nigerian dies as long as we are in power, and Peter Obi and Obidients are learning lessons.

The ministers should stop embarrassing the government and the president.

Ndi ala!😏

I said it from day 1 but it's unfortunate that many people who applaud the move don't realize their mistakes

A country like Nigeria cannot float it currency and expect an easy ride

Chopping off head is not the solution to headache

Removal of fuel subsidy is not the solution to subsidy scam, the best solution is to go after the perpetrators and prosecute them

Almost every countries on earth subsidize her citizens in one or the other

Fuel & forex are the 2 major determinants of price of commodities in this country and ever since both is on high side, life has become unbearable for Nigerians

Federal government need to think twice and act
