damsberrydammy74: For a change of name (marital status), you have to change it first with NIN. The names on the passport (immigration) must always match NIN data. Go to any NIMC office with necessary documents - copies (Marriage certificate, Affidavit, and Newspaper Publication+Written letter) requesting the change based on Marital status. After the change has been submitted, it is another hurdle for NIMC to update it in their database before heading to NIS for a new passport (change of name). My wife did not require a consent letter (the instruction from NIS contact was to go to NIMC to change it first, then to NIS). PS: With the new passport process, things might have changed with NIS, so my info might not be accurate. 2 Likes |

eorom: Congrats, please I have also done biometrics for TRV and had to pay again for biometrics when I submitted my PR application. I just want to confirm if you didn't pay for the biometrics initially while paying and submitting the pr application. |
Re: Canada Spouse Family Sponsorship Visa/appeal Process by Myglan27: 9:29am On Jan 31 |
SophiaObiefule:you will get it soon by the special grace of God. When did your eligibility started and completed? |
Re: Canada Spouse Family Sponsorship Visa/appeal Process by eorom: 7:59pm On Jan 31 |
mikeayus: Yes, I did not pay initially when submitting the SS application (only included the Proof of Biometrics Validity document). It is good you paid, IRCC wouldn't ask again. Biometrics should be updated to complete once that stage is done. 1 Like |

SophiaObiefule: Thank you God will complete your joy too. The PPR will come out soonest. NOTE FOR EVERYONE: Please be checking the "view submitted application or upload documents" in the GC key portal. We did not get any message notification of any document request but saw a request to resubmit the passport datapage. we submitted it immediately. PPR can take anywhere from 1 month- 3 months after medical. especially with accra office so there really isn't any need to worry at this point. mine took 1.5 months from medical SophiaObiefule: |

Please I need advise and suggestions especially from alumni My VO is Accra but can I submit my passport to Kenya? |
Re: Canada Spouse Family Sponsorship Visa/appeal Process by 11elleo: 8:55pm On Feb 12 |
yes you can submit to any VO even if it is different from the one written on your PPR. as long as you follow whatever their requirements are for posting. if you can wait about 2-3 months for passport return, then send to accra. if not, send to kenya. mine took 7 weeks because i submitted to accra SophiaObiefule: |

Hello All, silent observer here. Spousal sponsorship application: I initially applied in March 2023 but wifey's application was returned as incomplete. So, I re-submitted May 2023. Timeline: May 16- Application received August 17 - Request for Biometrics Nov 17 - Request for immigration medical exam Nov. 17 - eligibility completed Nov. 18 - Pre-arrival services letter Nov 30 - Medicals completed Feb 07, 2024 - BG verification completed Feb 07 - Copr details generated Feb 12 - PPR mail Worthy of mentioning is that we applied for wifey's visitor's visa mid-way. We applied in July 2023 and visa approved in Aug, 2023. Also, wifey was able to get a job in principle (guys, there's no hack here. just aggressive sending of job applications), while she waited for her ppr. Within the 2months we waited for the PPR mail, we decided to apply for an open spousal work permit. We flagpoled ( bad move. can't flagpole as a PR) and later applied online for an open spousal work permit for wifey. What's interesting is that, the minute the online application for an open work permit was sent, IRCC decided to update the spousal PR application to BG completed, COPR details generation and hence PPR mail. So, safe to say that the independent application prompted the system to do the needful, lol. Rooting for everyone waiting it out for IRCC to do the needful. Cheers! 1 Like |

unitedCA:Congratulations on your PPR. Can you please share with us what your approach was with the Visitor Visa, we are just planning to put everything together now just like you did. Spousal Sponsorship followed by visitor visa application, was there anything special you did to ensure that the visitor visa was granted or is it safe to say that as a potential PR (Spousal Sponsorship in progress) the visitor visa is all but guaranteed ? Thank you for your time. 1 Like |
Re: Canada Spouse Family Sponsorship Visa/appeal Process by unitedCA: 6:08pm On Feb 19 |
I attached a blank document checklist. The expectation was to fill the sections relevant to your application and attach. I could have sworn I duly filled it but I guess, I didn't save it properly. Dizzy007: 1 Like |
Re: Canada Spouse Family Sponsorship Visa/appeal Process by unitedCA: 6:26pm On Feb 19 |
Like you rightly said, ss (spousal spon.) followed by vv (visitors visa) application. As you already know, both applications are treated separately as the applicant's intentions differ. We didn't do anything 'special' other than submitting the required documents. We kept the vv documentation light because most documents have already been submitted during the ss application. VV is not guaranteed for anyone, however, I would say you'd get to know the decision of the vv application within record time, (unless there are mitigating circumstances peculiar to your application) beekind: |
Re: Canada Spouse Family Sponsorship Visa/appeal Process by beekind: 2:24pm On Feb 20 |
unitedCA:Thank you for your response. Well it does seem like unlike before Visitor Visa application after Spousal Sponsorship application process are now being given more positive response than before. I say this from just observing the trends so I may be wrong, I wish others could also weigh in and share there thoughts. Does applying for a visitor visa after aor (spousal sponsorship) have more positive outcome these days compared to in the past ? |

Good morning Fam. How are you all doing? My BGC got completed this morning but Eligibility is still in progress and this is very strange to me. I thought Eligibility comes before BGC. Has anyone here experienced this? Thanks |
